Established in 2000.

Dr. Roger Hicks opened Yubadocs Urgent Care in 2000 to serve people who don’t have a primary physician or need same day medical care. Yubadocs is open 7 days a week (Monday through Friday 8 – 6, Saturday and Sunday 9 – 4).

Yubadocs sees patients with acute illnesses, fractured bones, lacerations, and more! If you are sick or injured but don’t need an ambulance, you are in need of urgent care.

Yubadocs is proud to provide outstanding medical and urgent care to those who need it in Western Nevada County.

Dr. Hicks received his BA from Brown University and his MD from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his Family Practice residency at U.C. Davis, passed Family Practice Boards, and is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. A Director of the Urgent Care Association of America, he is a Founding Director of the Urgent Care Assurance Company. In addition, he is the founding president and current board member of the South Yuba River Citizens League. He was drawn to Nevada County by the Yuba River, and opened Yubadocs in August, 2000.

I went to Yubadocs and received excellent care. Dr Hicks and Dr Harris were both outstanding. The Medical assistants were also professional and through. They all took their time with me and really listened to my health concerns. The front desk staff were all helpful. I feel fortunate to have Yubadocs for Urgent care.

I went in a few days ago for a dislocated shoulder. Handed the receptionist my CDL and insurance card, sat down and filled out the paperwork. Turned it in and sat back down. Waited 45 minutes in agony when the receptionist finally called me up to tell me that they aren’t contracted with my insurance provider and that if I wanted to be seen, I’d have to pay in cash upfront. She said she could try billing my insurance but that I’d have to leave my credit card information with her. I asked if she would please call my insurance carrier to find out if they would cover my visit and she said «I don’t do that.» I asked her why she hadn’t told me about the insurance as soon as I handed her my card. She said she was too busy to notice my carrier. She then suggested I try a different urgent care facility or the ER. I left in tears. I will NEVER go back there and I will never refer my friends to them. Yubadocs are a disgrace to medicine.

I was hesitant about coming in again after all the poor reviews. However, I’m glad I did! This is only the second time I’ve been here. Once nine years ago and today. Both experiences were great! The front staff was friendly and Josh and Dr. Harris were professional, polite, thorough, and caring. I walked in at 8:00am and was out, with prescriptions in hand and a positive strep test, at 8:50am! This was without an appointment. The cost was also very reasonable! :)

Walked in at 5:55 last Friday with a just broken and very painful wrist. Despite the fact that they were about to close, they gave me x-​rays, splint, pain meds with tremendous TLC. The staff and Dr. Hicks were great and all stayed to make sure I was well-​taken care of. Can’t imagine how long an ordeal I’d have had at the ER.

I would give them a zero, if I could. I went in, twice in 3 months, with URGENT problems. First time, sat for 2 hours, before going back. But someone comes in with a hurt leg and goes right in. Yesterday, I go in with blood all over me from a cut. I still sit for over 20 minutes! I finally said F! CK it. I left. I will never go back. They don’t care anymore.

If you have insurance beware! If you are an insured person, however your insurance is not one of the few they accept up front, proceed with caution. You will be required to pay up front and will be charged more than an uninsured customer who is offered a 20% discount for paying at the time of service. Additionally, you will be paying more than the negotiated rate with the insurance company as well. So now you are paying for your insurance, plus you are only getting credit toward your deductible for a reduced/​negotiated rate which is less than what you were actually required to pay. Do your research in advance so you’re not caught off guard. We already pay enough for medical care without being required to pay more than the going rate.

Tried to get my CDL physical here. They told me it was $ 165 when I found a place for $ 40. Their knowledge and capacity on CDL physicals appears to be quite limited. Recommend shopping around before jumping in here.

Dr. Harris and Britt (hope I spelled that right) were great! My only gripe is about the administrative staff. I wish I had names, but suffice to say that their tone, facial expressions and body language were not appreciated nor demonstrative of a professional facility. Two words that come to mind, «condescending» and «intimidating». I’m sure many others that visited today 05/​26/​2015 felt the same way. My family and I will go elsewhere now.

Inept. Rude. Uncaring.
I cut a finger while performing my duties as a wedding planner. This is what «urgent care» is for. I walked in, and explained that a wedding was happening that afternoon and that I needed a few stitches right away. There were no patients waiting so this should have been no problem. 40 minutes later, they were still trying to train the new girl how to enter my data into the system. Finally they called my name to be seen, and I again explained that I do not have much time. They said that to stitch up my finger would take at least another hour. They became surly and rude when I told them that I did not have that kind of time to spare. I do not think there was even a doctor on duty. They had no explanation as to what could possibly take that long, so I left.

YubaDocs’ performance is inconsistent. We have had some very good experiences in the past but most recently we had to walk out.
The last time we were there their service was extremely and unnecessarily slow, arbitrary, and poorly managed. We went there with a written report from a reputable MD in charge of another medical facility who ordered an ibuprofen injection. The staff was slow and stalled us and delayed us again and again. The injection itself took less than a minute. The administrative workers seemed unprofessional and had poor attitudes. We wouldn’t think of going there again unless they shaped up.

I think what makes me most angry was I had to pay upfront to see a doctor because they dont take Blue Cross. When Blue Cross reimbursed, they paid them not me. They only reimburse on the third Friday of the month. So they have my money for about 2 weeks but for some it could be a month. CRAZY. The business person would not even talk to me, the receptionist told me. When I called back a day after the visit for the pain meds they offered for shingles, they took a good day to get back to me. They are not the most efficient group nor considerate.

******DONT GO TO YUBA DOCS FOR URGENT CARE******
Came to Yuba docs about 8 years ago because I had stepped on a rusty 1.25 inch staple while wearing flip flops. I waited a long time to be evaluated by a doctor who’s advice was to go home and soak my foot in a mix of warm water and Epsom salt for 30 minuets twice a day. They didn’t acknowledge the fact that I had pieces of rubber stuck in my foot, that were clearly visible and could have easily been removed by the doctor. I went back home and soaked my foot as instructed. However the next day I couldn’t put any weight on my foot and had a bright red line from my black and blue foot, and all the way up to my shin. Ended up going to the ER down the street and they immediately admitted me to the hospital and also got the rubber out of my foot within 15 minuets of being in the ER ! Stayed two days in the hospital and almost needed surgery to remove infected parts of tissue. Ended up paying $ 100– for Yuba docs with bad outcome. I could have spent the same amount of money if I had just gone to the ER in the fist place without having to go through all the extra chaos!

Recommend YubaDocs? NOT!!! Can”t give less than 1 star — too bad! Staff is curt and inefficient. An untrained assistant was «learning» to do x-​rays (not a certified tech). Fracture was misdiagnosed as a «sprain/​strain» and as a result the patient had to have a full knee replacement. I wouldn’t trust this place with my cat.

I have used Yubadocs several times over the last few years. They have always treated me with great courtesy and with attention to my comfort and needs. If they are busy they will take your number and call you 15 minutes before your appointment. and if you don’t have an appointment it is not a problem unless they are very busy. They are a great alternative to using the emergency service at the hospital (also very good) if you have an urgent need outside of normal hours. I recomment them very highly. I’ve read some of the negative reviews from people put off by their not taking their insurance or by long delays. It seems only people who have a beef write most of the reviews so though I’d add my evaluation to show that you can expect very good, fair treatment.
You know, if you read these reviews and then go to Yubadocs and have a good experience, why don’t you come back here and leave them a good review?

I tried YubaDocs for a physical. Their specialty is urgent care, but they also do routine doctors’ appointments. The offices are in a strip mall next to a Chinese restaurant in Grass Valley, so there’s plenty of parking close by. The waiting room was basically generically medical but clean, wasn’t crowded on a weekday morning when I was there, and there were nice, framed, artful photos of the Yuba River hanging on almost all the walls. As for the egregious privacy issues other reviewers commented on, all I can say is I didn’t notice anything much out of the ordinary. Paperwork was minimal, and the doctor I saw seemed professional and willing to take a few extra minutes to help a new patient.

Yuba Docs couldn’t even diagnose a «cold sore» (HPV-​1) outbreak on my arm. Their examination and swab test came back «normal.» I had to go to a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis and prescription. I will never go back. It was expensive, and they couldn’t even figure out something as simple as a «cold sore.» Give me a break. Waste of money, for Yuba Docs to tell me everything was «normal» when it was not. Avoid this place like the bubonic plague. I would hate for someone else to go in with a more serious infection and be told everything is «normal.»

This morning I had an accident. Within moments my hands were tingling like they were attached to electrodes and I was fearful that my neck was broken. My husband headed straight to YubaDocs and within minutes I was in a room and being tended by excellent medical staff. No fuss over whether I had insurance or how quickly I could pay. Less than 30 minutes later the x-​rays concluded that I had no fracture. When you’re really, really scared and in pain it’s such a relief to not have to wait hours in a triage to get results. The cost for all of this? Less than $ 300, of which I had to pay half. They bill my insurance– I don’t have to. I just await the reimbursement. Simple and efficient. And very inexpensive.
This is not the first time I have been to YubaDocs. All of my experiences and those of my family have been excellent. We’re so fortunate to have them in our community!
I find it odd that only negative reviews are shown for YubaDocs when I know I have posted positive reviews here before. Where do the positive reviews go and why do you only show negatives, dating back to 2006?
