Legoland Discovery Center

Kids love this place. I thought this place is too small to spend time, but the have more than i expected. I’d like to take kids again.

My granddaughter really enjoyed her first experience at Legoland, although I was quite put off by a few things that need improvement: all the employees that were engaging with kids were surly, cold, harsh and even a bit mean. Not good for kids. I would have loved to interact with employees that either loved kids and/​or loved their jobs.
Also, we rode the cars that have us shooting bad guys and, while a super fun idea and very engaging, the guns did not work 90% of the time! Very frustrating.
Finally, I would have appreciated a few helpers in the Lego building area. Dads were having fun building race cars for their boys but for the uninitiated like myself and granddaughter, we were really floundering despite our desire to build something workable to run on their tracks.

My kid had a BLAST and that is all that matters!!!
Kingdom Quest was actually a lot of fun… So was the 4-​D movie.
I didn’t give 5 stars is there is no place to eat when we came… The café is being remodeled. Also, kids can’t go to the water park unless they have a change of clothes… That would have been valuable information to put in big bold letters on the website. My kid was disappointed he could do the water park.
In all… Super fun for the kids. We don’t have a Legoland in Washington state so this was a great treat for our son while visiting Texas.

My review is only for the store. Yup, after you’re done with your tour, you enter a Lego store. I had one Lego associate stand by me as I was ripping apart the bin with stuffed animals. I wanted to see how high I could stack the Lego blocks. I was hoping to reach the ceiling. I got to about 6+ ft and some of the plush animals looked like they were about to fall out so I stopped and walked away. They have a life size Dirk Nowitzki Lego figure and some other cool sets on display. It’s definitely a wonderful place and i look forward to coming back. Other than the girl staring at me building my tower, I had a great time. Cashier was amazing too! Also, the music they play is uplifting and makes anyone want to whistle along while they shop. What a great time!

We took our kiddos for my son’s 6^th bday… we all had alot of fun plenty to do for everyone… I wish I had looked more into it to take swim suits for the water park portion outside… the rides onside were fun and even one adults could go on too… they had alot of fun stamping their cards at each new thing and the 4D movie is a must! All of the staff were really nice and helpful. The exhibits were awesome!

Review for «Adult Night» event which occurs the last Monday of every month:
This Legoland is seriously small. The rides were fun, but outside of that, everything else in the activity section was kind of… alright/​lame.
The exhibits were AWESOME !! I’m talking about the Lego-​built Dallas replica and the Star Wars exhibits.
Pricing wise; think with how small it is and the lack of other fun activities, this event should have been priced around 10 max. But online prices are around 14 – 15 total and in person is 21.
Get the online tickets if you’re planning on checking this place out!

The lines are so long. The rides are not that fun. I spent twenty minutes waiting in line at the concession stand and finally gave up. I would rather be desperately thirsty than give them 3 more dollars and twenty more minutes of my life to finally get a beverage. Do not expect to eat or drink if you go.

I can’t believe we have been wanting to come here for several years. What a disapointment. I’m just glad we didn’t buy an annual pass.
Theres no direction at all. We read that you can build and test lego race cars, but not really. Two kids had all the wheels in the place. There was zero supervision and no direction. The floors are littered with bricks to trip and slip on. Kids are screaming and crying.
Here on a Monday at 2 during school hours, after spring break. Still crowded.

I was worried that there wouldn’t be enough to for my toddler because he is only 2, but I was wrong. It was great, plenty to do and extremely fun. I recommend it to anyone.

Came here on a Wednesday when there was little activity with my 3yr old and 15 month boys. Wife had got discounted tickets online.
If your kids are into Legos, then i’m sure they’ll enjoy every bit of this place. The walk-​up ticket prices are a little high ($ 21 per person) for the content in this place. You may just want to get the online combo admission to Sea-​life next-​door and Lego land or search for a better deal online. You can save more $ if you purchase your ticket online 24 hours in advance. Kids under 2 get in free.
After our tickets were verified, you have an option of taking a $ 15 single 8×6 picture or $ 20 for two 8×6 pictures in front of a green screen which will later be superimposed with Lego action stuff. I thought the pics were a little pricey. You can pre-​purchase a photo package online for $ 35 for 3 — 8×6 and a digital copy.
You’ll be taken on a Lego factory tour where the kiddos will spin the wheels, push the buttons and shout as loud as they can to create Lego Bricks before you are let loose to visit the various areas of the discovery center.
Not a lot to do for adults in this center, but I kinda liked the building a race car using legos and the lego display of DFW area & Star War model display which I thought was pretty cool. There is a café and a couple of fun rides for the kids — Forest Ranger Pursuit & Merlin’s Apprentice Ride. I did not see the ride where you aim for targets that a few Unilocal reviewers have talked about. Not sure if they took it out.
My 3 yr old son enjoyed the play-​area slides and the 4D movie, he really didn’t care too much about the legos. Hopefully when he grows older he’ll get to love legos.
The 4D movie plays every 15 minutes and be prepared to get a little wet, and have stuff blown on your face. My only issue was the air that was being blown around felt like it had dust and I couldn’t stop sneezing after the experience. They may need to clean up those fans up on the ceiling to get rid of anything that may trigger allergies.
The shop has a bunch of souvenirs, but again, these are pricey.
Overall, cool place for kids who love legos. We were a little disappointed the outdoor play area was not open. We were told it is under construction.

It’s cool– unless your kids are really into Legos, I say this place is cool for kids under 6−7… The employees could be more involved and informative about things but other than that, my son had a good time. Definitely a check off the list place but not ongoing unless your kid is into Legos lol.

If only I was 9 and not 26 at Lego Land. We came with a 12 year old and a 13 year old. I think kids these days do not enjoy stuff like this nowadays unless they are less than 11 because the kids did not enjoy it was much as the little kiddos running around.
There’s a little ride where you aim for the targets, which was kind of fun, even for someone in their 20’s. It rides 5 people max. The people there would split the group according if you have more than 5 or less than 5. They would not make you sit with someone you don’t know. Which I thought was thoughtful of the workers.
There are some cool things for adults to see as well. There’s a whole city of Dallas made with Legos of course. I think it’s something one should take their kids once at least.

I took my three year old here and she loved it. The whole place felt a bit cramped with dim lighting. Kids perhaps will enjoy a more bright environment. There were not that many rides but hey, this place is for kids and not adults and my daughter had a blast :)

I would like to give 4STARS just because of the awesome photographer/​staffer who interjected my husband and I while in line reviewing the price list ($ 21plus per person) and ask if our son (who is 11months) was the only child we had to enter into the venue. We replied Yes and she told us to NOT WASTE our money because our son would NOT be able to get on ANY RIDE or play in any of the areas at most he could partake in one of the many things to do.
The 2STAR is because this is NOT clear on the website and those at the front desk wouldn’t dare tell you this info and just charge you out the Wazooo to enter. It’s ridiculously pricy and my girlfriend who was meeting is there was actually already inside and her son who is 2 was not able to do much because of his size and no one warned her so she spent the money.
I would suggest you don’t go here unless your child is at least 4feet and I also suggest you search GoldStar for deals and search the site for advance tickets which is still pricy after you pay the fees online.

A kids Lego dream. My son is obsessed with Legos. He loves coming here and playing in the play set. He can spend two hours building with the foam Legos in there. He loves to ride the rides. I believe the police car ride is his favorite right now. He especially loves the 4d movies. Of course building with the traditional Legos is mixed in between all of those activities. Of course after you build them you have to test them out. We manage to visit every inch of this place every time we come. Needless to say we can spend 4 – 5 hrs easily in this place. It is a really good place to hide on a rainy day. Keeps the kiddos from getting cabin fever.

I brought my 7 & 8 year old nephews. They loved it. We came on a Sunday afternoon and luckily got right in. The wait was only about 10 minutes. It was busy but we didn’t have to wait very long for any of it and it wasn’t overcrowded at the time. The staff was really attentive to the kids. They have a large play center in the middle and the person letting the kids inside, made sure to ask who they were with and checked with me before letting them enter and made sure to get my attention before letting them back out so I knew where the kids were at all times.
The 4D movie was awesome. I had to make the boys go, they didn’t want to sit through a movie when there was so much to play with, but they loved it. They told me later that was their favorite thing.
We were there about 3 hours and I think we missed a whole section. We never went past the café area and there must have been more stuff on the other side because looking through the pics on Unilocal I noticed some Lego cars you could ride and we never saw those. I was just letting the boys go where they wanted, but if I go again I’ll make sure they find everything. We didn’t go outside to the water area either, but we saw it on the way in.
I didn’t think the prices were too bad. You can get them cheaper online in advance but you have to schedule a time to go (which I think is stupid). I didn’t want to be on a time schedule so I opted to just wing it instead and just pay the higher rate. I could have got a $ 3 (per ticket) discount with my AAA card the day of but I stopped at the Texas visitor and welcome center on the way in to town and found a $ 5 off coupon in the Grapevine magazine so I used that instead. It saved me $ 15.

My husband and I took our 8 year old son here today. What a disappointment! We bought our ticket on line for the 10:15 time slot and arrived a little bit early but still waited till 10:45 to enter. Once we entered we found the Kings quest was out of order for the day. The Lego factory tour was horrible, you couldn’t hear the man speaking even with a mic. Over all it was entirely over crowded I have no idea why we had to pay for a time slot! It seemed pointless now. If you was to buy a picture be prepared to wait. They had two young ladies who were working but there system is so slow I waited 30 minutes only to find out the people taking the pictures had given us the people before us in lines picture claim ticket. The did eventually find our pictures but it just added more time to something that anywhere else is pretty fast and easy. Never again will we return no one had fun.

Oh LegoLand, what a disappointment you were. I kind of figured beforehand that it wasn’t going to be all that great because 1) I’ve seen other LegoLands on Tv and knew there was no way they could fit that cool stuff in a mall and 2) it’s in Grapevine Mills Tourist Trap… errr…Mall.
I went with my 5 year old son who likes Legos but isnt ridiculously obsessed with them.
Ticket Buying: I bought tickets for my son and myself online and used the discount option to get both aquarium and LegoLand tickets. I don’t recall how much the adult was over the child ticket, but my total was $ 54 which I felt was decent for two attractions. We chose the 11:30 am on a Sunday time slot.
Arrival: we got to the mall around 11:15 and although the signs pointed in completely opposite directions from where we were supposed to be we went with process of elimination and got in the big long line. About twenty minutes later we got to a counter where we showed them our emails and bought two bottles sodas for $ 6. The fridge with sodas was practically empty so we got stuck with orange drink and diet Pepsi. I know this seems minor but there’s a theme.
Step 1: this is where all the people in your allotted time slot get herded like cows. There is a green screen for a photographer to take your picture but no one offered that nor where there any photographers so we got past that into a hallway before being moved into the «factory». I seriously would have rather watched a video of the REAL Lego factory because it was so crowded and you couldn’t even hear the little presentation. At the end of that the «factory» spit out a souvenir Lego block for everyone and we were herded into a narrow walkway into the main part.
The map gives you the impression that you are in for some ginormous theme park type setting. Uh… no.
Kingdom Quest Ride: basically little cars with laser tag type guns attached. You ride through about a three minute ride shooting targets. They also take your picture as you go through this and will sell it to you but I don’t see the point. My son loved it though.
LegoRacers: this was an area with a bunch of random Legos in bins that you build cars from and race them down ramps. It was really crowded and pieces were sparse. My son did this area twice.
Construction: this is what the map calls the playground area. Basically it’s an oversized McDonalds play place with a fire house theme. They require socks. We did not have socks. We were directed to the café to buy socks but a nice lady had just bought a three pack somewhere else and gave us a pair. Anyway, so they will let your kid go into this without you but they cannot get OUT without you. I am not a helicopter parent and they don’t tell you this so my son had to yell at me from across the place to come get him. Later, another worker let kids out without a parent so I’m not sure what the actual proper procedure is and what the point is because there are unattended kids everywhere. Anyways, I was surprised my son enjoyed this feature because he’s normally not that into play places. There are height restrictions. Probably around 9 is the cut off.
Ninjago Training Camp: I did not go into this room but I think it’s another laser thing.
Lego Studio 4G: in my opinion this was the best part about the whole place. The movie was cute and had a lot of effects such as wind, mist, and snowflakes. Very nice, large theater.
Forest Ranger Pursuit: this is the jeep ride where they drive power wheels on steroids around a track. Push the petal to go, let off to stop. Just like power wheels. Apparently my kid is the only one who has ever ridden power wheels. It was painful to watch and he was frustrated that he kept getting stuck sitting behind kids that didn’t know how to go. Ages 4 to 9 ride this.
Mini land: this was actually pretty cool with Lego replicas of things like the Ferris wheel at Fair Park, Reunion Tower and Great Wolf Lodge.
Café: they had health food which is good I guess. You also buy the socks here. A large fountain drink is $ 2.75. I was pissed that I spent $ 3 on a bottle drink I didn’t want. The prices in the café seemed very reasonable.
Duplo Village: here they have the bigger duplo blocks for kids to play with and a slide. Probably for around 2 – 4 year old age appropriate.
Princess Palace: the token thing for girls to do. A «castle» made out of pink Legos with ikea tables and chairs, «girl» Legos, and a karaōke stage.
Merlin’s Apprentice ride: this ride sucks. You have to pedal to keep the thing in the air and if you stop pedaling you look like the loser mom.
Pirate Beach Splash Pad: we didn’t even go out there. A splash pad is a splash pad.
Gift Shop: very poorly stocked. Over priced.
Other Tips:
once you leave the main LegoLand you can’t get back in. Period. No hand stamp. Nothing. You’re done. If you’re looking for a Lego building experience you won’t get it.

After reading some bad reviews I was a little worried what to expect, but we had a wonderful time. My children are 2 ½ and 7 and they had fun the whole time. We arrived about 10 minutes before our 1030 entrance time, got in right on time. It really wasn’t crowed, wait times for rides were 5 to 10 minutes. The staff was very helpful and friendly. At one point my son needed a bandaid and they got him right away. The place is on the small side but with small kids I didn’t feel like the kids were going to get lost. So I liked that. Some people were complaining about the price but what do you expect, its a tourist attraction. Our visit was on a Wednesday during the summer. So maybe that helped with the crowds. Idk. We really had a nice visit.
From our experience here are some helpful tips to make sure you enjoy your day fully.
–bring socks for big climbing structures (u can purchase some in the food court for $ 1)
–bring swimsuits, sunscreen, watershoes and towels for outdoor water play. There are changing areas and restrooms outside. My kids wore socks so they didn’t get blisters from the concrete on the splash pad.
–some rides and activities have age and height requirements

I could see how you wouldn’t like this place if you have older kids. It’s not huge and the admission price for adults stinks.
That being said, on a cold rainy day it’s perfect for an unruly toddler! Lots of things to keep the little guy entertained for sure. He loved the Lego pit and play area with a slide. I totally paid too much for a lunch box but it came in a plastic Lego container that we use for toy storage so yay for recycling.
Someone lost a kid while we were there and the staff shut the place down for a while. No one in or out until the lost child is found. I was impressed with the way that was handled. Very fun way to spend a few hours. I don’t think it’s meant to me a full day event so go with that expectation and have a blast!
