We are really interested in classic general optometry. We provide contact lenses of all types, (hard and soft, regular and bifocal), regular eye exams, and medical services like treatment of red eye, foreign body removal, and glaucoma treatment. Glasses are available with about 700 frames on display. We repair glasses including soldering. We also sell magifiers.

Having said all that, we would say that we «specialize» in doing things the traditional way, with one doctor providing your care, and with a minimum of the «assembly line» approach to eyecare. We stand by our mission statement, «Quality, Integrity, Accuracy in Vision Services,»

History

Established in 1979.

Dr. Michael Schwartz graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry in June, 1979. Five days later, and accompanied by his wife, children, and truckload of «early married» furniture they arrived in Grants Pass. The office was originally at 9^th and H streets in Grants Pass and Dr. Schwartz opened «cold» (not buying an existing practice). Three years later, neighboring optometrist Dr. Robert Stephen announced his intention to retire. Realizing the potential of integrating Dr. Stephen’s friendly, meticulous practice into his, he bought Dr. Stephens business and moved it into his facility.

In 1984, the practice was outgrowing the small rented space it occupied. Dr. Schwartz found an old house on Northeast A Street. He bought it and over a number of months added on and converted it into his current office. Dr. Schwartz continues to work solo full time, asisted by his wonderful staff (the doctor wrote this– really!) Linda, Diane, Belinda, and Debbie
