No beer or alcohol, no credit cards. Dingy small, Uninviting place. I would say this is a takeout only place as no one was eating there

My wife and I enjoyed the food, which is your standard Chinese, the dining room was small but comfortable, and the service. Our waitress spoke English well and gave just the right amount of service. We each ordered a combination plate. They do not allow substitutions but left off the rice my wife can’t eat and gave her extra chow mein. The fried shrimp on my wife’s plate was delicious! The batter was very light and cooked perfectly. On my plate the kung pao chicken was some of the best I have eaten! On the other hand, I had a dish that I will guess was the almond chicken that wasn’t so good. Small chicken strips fried in a similar batter as the shrimp but over the top was a brown gravy that had little flavor and only succeeded in making the breading soggy. To sum it up — I would go there again. Good food, good price, happy people. BRINGCASH! They don’t accept cards!

For the price, the food is standard Chinese fare — the egg foo yung is either made into a cake form or it was possibly pre-made, the sauce seemed different, a lighter one than most egg foo yung sauces and thicker(possibly made with Gold Wondra). Got sweet and sour chicken, the batter was really crispy and had a malty flavor(gold-n-malted) — I quite liked it, it was light but not as light and flaky as a tempura batter. Their sauce was very nice, they didn’t cover all the pieces in it so they weren’t soggy. The chicken chow-mein had a ton of celery in it, almost over powering and the sauce seemed genuine — very light and succulent. There was another family with a couple of girls, seemed like they knew the owners pretty well and they gave the children lollipops.

We have been going to this fine establishment for a number of years, and have found the food very enjoyable. The fried rice has been questionable at times but I know it has to do with what is put in. There is no Credit Card available so be prepared for that. I usually order the #6 or #8 and have not been disappointed. Give it a chance you wont be sorry.

Awesome food! Such a nice surprise. They are out of the way, and it looked very basic. The problem with most Chinese restaurant is that there is too much fat in the food. Not this place! The pot stickers were large and perfectly balanced. The war wonton soup was delicious. The broccoli beef was awesome. The orange chicken crunchy and tasty. I wish this place was closer to where we live.

We went here because of the great reviews. Big mistake. The food was awful; tasteless, overcooked, oily. The people are lovely, however, and I’m guessing their friends wrote the reviews to help them.

Just moved here in January and have had Chinese food 3 or 4 times now. Decided to try this place out. We were not impressed. It’s edible but no flavor. And the sweet and sour chicken tasted like french toast mixed with a funnel cake. Not good. Unfortunately, we won’t order from here again.

In town visiting my parents, and they wanted to take me to eat here before I left, and I’m so glad they did! Don’t be deceived by the outside – it was clean, and the food was really delicious! Our server was also an owner, Heidi, and she was so sweet and her smile was beautiful. If you want some yummy Chinese food in Grants Pass, then I would highly recommend that you stop and eat here!

I don’t review often, however the food at «A Taste of China» is awful. The chicken used in several dishes was actually gray, vegetables so over-cooked they had turned to mush. Most of the vegetables were not fresh. There were mushrooms with dark mold spots on them in our dishes. The cooking process left the food drenched in oil, the taste of all of the food was that of either fat, canola oil or something else greasy. The level of oil in the food left everyone feeling queasy. There was no variation in flavor either. The lo mein tasted like the Kung pao, which tasted like the vegetable delight. Simply put, we bought food for 8 people, paid about $ 92.00 and ended up throwing most of it away. If you want a contrast, a Panda Express located in an airport concourse would have been a better choice. But last and most egregious was the restaurants I distance of displaying the bounced checks of previous patrons without editing their personal information or bank account info. I feel bad that you were written a bad check, but certainly if you took credit cards instead of personal checks, this wouldn’t have happened. On a scale of 1 – 10 this place gets a «Yuck»…

This is one tasty place. Enjoyed classic Chinese that we cannot find in California. Almond fried chicken was pure Chinese comfort food. Their combo app platter was fried perfection… except for the bbq pork. Pork was moist. We have had bbq pork three days in a row. The staff was so friendly and seemed happy that we so enjoyed their food. Whenever we have reason to be in Grants Pass, this will be a must stop.

Fresh, good Quality ingredients and generous portions… got house special Chow Mein, Kung Pao chicken. Next time I will ask for it spicier, that’s the only thing I would change. I was pleased by how little oil was in the dishes. Ambiance, décor? Not really, and the building wouldn’t lead one to believe the food would be among the best Chinese I’ve had here in Grants Pass. Hardly San Francisco Chinatown, but Grants Pass doesn’t exactly have a large Asian populace.

their shrimp«fried» rice is the WORST! the rice wasn’t even fried, it was steamed. the shrimp was over cooked and it tasted more like steamed rice with scrambled eggs. what a waste of almost $ 9

GREAT food, great service, family small town business. You wouldn’t know by the store front how great the food is or how large the portions are… And the converted home is only reason why not 5 stars. Some may like the quaintness of the home, my preference is a more traditional store front. BUT believe me, that won’t stop me going back again and again and giving rave reviews.

Ok should give a five… But I know it will be earned. My first time having General Tao chicken… Was served hot, coating was crispy and chicken moist, we opted for ‘mild spice’ glad we did. With Fresh… pork chow mien. Coming back for sure.

One of the best Chinese places in town. Don’t let it’s small appearance fool you, The food couldn’t be better. After going here for years the owner already has my order of Broccoli Beef going as soon as i walk in. Love her. Don’t miss out. 5 Stars.

Great food! The inside of the restaurant is not anything special but who cares about that! Very nice people over the phone and in person. Even got a free calendar. The food is priced well and tastes great. Best Chinese food in town.

I always had seen lots of people going in and out of this place but never tried the food myself until the other day. I was sketchy about trying it out based on the outdoor appearance but finally decided to give it a try. The food was done super quick(for take-out) and the ladies that work here are VERYNICE. :) The orange chicken was excellent. the meat was all white and tender which is a total plus in my book! I also ordered the cashew shrimp which was good– even though it seemed that most of my order consisted of the celery and not actual shrimp– but still tasted good. I would definitely go back.

Met up with the rest of the guys from the poker club, so there were seven of us. The service was fast and great as always, and as always we loved the food. I think their pot stickers are some of the best around, and you gotta try the crab puffs appetizers.
