Granite Bay High School

I’m an adult, and I have no connection with this school at all. I have seen students who have attended, however, and I am very impressed
I especially remember a couple I talked to whose children were told they would be discriminated against. They found, however, that they were readily accepted. They were not as well received in the schools they attended in neighboring cities, however.
These were high achieving students. Perhaps, that made a difference.

I know I couple girls who went here but got bullied so much they had to transfer schools. That’s not a great reputation

I don’t find myself contributing to reviews very often, but after reading a few of the posts listed below I felt obligated.
Some earlier reviews seem misguided. Many students in high school (including myself back then) are still seeking their niche and defining their personality. This is a consequence of being a teenager. All social communities have insiders and outsiders, this doesn’t stop when one reaches adulthood.
Other reviews attack previous contributors about their grammar and spelling, using this as justification to swiftly condemn the school as inadequate. This is a terrible example of the ‘slippery slope’ fallacy, which was taught to me by teachers at Granite Bay HS.
I graduated in 2006 and attended a major University the following semester, in which I have also graduated. Seven years after leaving GBHS, I have clear perspective on my experience.
If you are a student, this school will offer you more academic, social, and extra-​curricular activities than you could expect from most high schools anywhere, public or private alike. It is up to you what activities you want to take advantage of.
The faculty is kind and caring. They are there to help and see you succeed. Many of my teachers took time out of their lives to answer my questions and offer me suggestions or instruction after school hours. The faculty is also highly involved in running after school clubs, sports, and events.
The academics can be as challenging as you decide, and advanced courses will challenge even the brightest. I chose to challenge myself with Honors and AP courses. My experience here made for a smooth transition to a 4-​year University.
Although I continued to challenge myself at Uni and I’m currently preparing for a Masters in Computer Science, the hardest subject I have ever taken remains to be GBHS’ AP European History with the extraordinary Mrs. Healy.
To sum up my experience, Granite Bay High School breeds a competitive attitude under challenging academic or athletic circumstances. The faculty and instructors provide the students with a great education. Those graduates that payed attention in class, actively participate in school as well as extra-​curricular activities, should expect to succeed in pursuing higher-​level education.
If you have the opportunity of attending this school, take advantage of everything it has to offer. This is one of the few public institution left in California with the resources to continue to provide the ‘All-​American’ high school experience.

Amazing Staff and Administration, kids are great.

I suppose you get what you take out of it, but the years I was here I felt like things were taught just to «get through it» and pass a test rather than for long-​term comprehension. The campus itself is large, clean, and new so… yeah. That’s about it. I suppose most people take advantage of the extra-​curricular activities that go on… sports are huge at this school. I moved around quite a bit when I was younger and had been to many schools, and this was one of my least favorites.

I give this a 5, only because I feel that it did it’s best at preparing me for college that a high school can do. The block schedule is something between the typical semester schedule and the quarter system, which I am on in high school. So in the end, college is harder, but having something easier than semesters made it useful.
Yeah, MOST (key word, MOST) people are stuck up there, but whatever, get over it. I think any high schooler would be if put in the same environment that the Granite Bay area is, it’s being human. I just hate how there’s the stereotypes that go along with it because everyone I knew didn’t care about the whole money thing and all that stuff.
A+ for lots of clubs and classes, however classes teach for the tests and then forget about it. A+ for sports programs, performing arts, etc. It has great facilities for a high school. It’s a very well rounded school.
Overall, yeah it could be better, but for a public school (especially in california) it’s one of the best, and even if you have your dislikes with it, you could probably agree with me.

Obviously, Granite Bay High School has failed to teach the difference between your (possessive) and you’re (a contraction of you are).
