Pure Imagination Chocolatier

Super friendly and cordial service. Unbelievably rich truffles. They aren’t cheap but definitely worth the occasional indulgence. I tried coffee, hazelnut, pistachio and extra dark truffles. All were of the highest caliber and very fresh.

You won’t find better or fresher chocolates anywhere, no matter what you pay. And the owner is really nice.

Chocolates with a personal touch. I was on my way back home, and saw PI’s awning ahead. I decided to swing into the open parking spot right outside their front door and check it out — why not. The lady working, Mary, was a breath of fresh air. A genuinely spunky, upbeat ball of enjoyment. She only works part-​time — she’s friends with the owner — but was heard at work turning, packaging, and lots of odds and ends. All the truffles and chocolates! So many colors. So many flavors. Everything’s made from scratch. PI moved to this location four or five years ago (from the North Market’s corner stall) for more space. They take orders from several local businesses and holiday orders, in addition to the foot traffic.
I was planning to make this a «look only» stop, but I caved in. I picked up a big, and I mean eat-this-thing-in-sections-cause-it’s-so-big-size milk chocolate covered peanut butter egg. At just over $ 8, I thought this was quite steep, but didn’t have the heart, nor self discipline to change my mind.
Oh, and PS: That egg is to die for! Creamy as all get out. Wonderful rich peanut butter taste (none of that cheap-​ass pure sweet sugar/​no nut taste)! If I lived by here, or worked here, well, I’m sure the words «I’ll pass» would be extremely hard to muster. A week has gone by, and I’ve still got half of the sucker left!

Their Unilocal page and answering machine said they were open till 8. I rushed over and got there at 740. It’s been a rough day. I really needed chocolate. I drug all 3 kids out to try their chocolate. They were closed. They should really update their hours. I’m so bummed and annoyed.
Updating to 5 till I can try them. They have excellent customer service and don’t deserve 1 star.

This place has the most delicious truffles, and awesome variety too! Every time we go we’re pleased with what we get and truly savor every bite! We have introduced many friends and family members here as well. The owner is incredibly sweet and helpful when making choices! Love this business!

I called with a last minute request, my order was filled the next day in plenty of time for fathers day. My request was chocolate covered bacon, my husband was thrilled with his nontraditional fathers day treat. Amazong customer service and chocolate!

Pure bliss is enjoyed with each imaginatively flavored chocolate morsel. I have eaten other boutique chocolates made by well known chocolatiers and Pure Imagination is by far the best. The shell is high quality chocolate plus the consistency and flavor of the ganache center is sublime. Every time I visit I find a new favorite. The quality of the service matches that of the product. This was my first stop once I moved back to the area. I would suggest traveling from far and wide to Grandview Heights just to try one of these delicious chocolates. If you happen to be in town during the warmer months, get some gelato too. Hazelnut gelato with a hazelnut chocolate on top will make you burst with endorphins.

Let me preface this review with this statement: I do not like chocolate. But it was my mom’s birthday and she loves chocolate. We walk in and were immediately greeted. The owner (I presume) is absolutely friendly, honest, and a delight. We told him to help out this group of kids before us and he seemed to have a repertoire with them which was cute. We got around 10 chocolates and most of them were delicious. The only one we didn’t care for was a lavender one, but that was a risky choice anyway. Take his recommendations though! He knows what he is doing.
I can’t recommend the Blood Orange, Kaffe Espresso or Blueberry Gouda enough!!!

The Aztec Chocolate is the best thing I Have ever eaten. 20 seconds of delight.
And the guy running the shop (owner maybe) was incredibly helpful. He was honest about what was good and what was questionable for a first timer.
If you are buying chocolate for a girl… Go there no questions asked.

I am always on the look out for local chocolate shops and or bakeries. I mentioned to my boss I was going to be in Grandview this weekend and she said I had to visit this chocolate shop! I was warmly greeted when I walked in! Daniel was really upbeat and made me feel like a valued customer even though I was just getting a couple chocolates for myself! It is definitely worth it to splurge on a couple of chocolates! They had such a wide variety of chocolates– if only I could try them all! I will definitely be back. i

Reminds me of the numerous choclatiers you’ll find in Paris… great attention to detail, refined flavors, well presented. I tasted the 86% dark chocolate which is the standard for comparing chocolates «apple to apple». It was intense, flavorful, with even flavor throughout.

Wow the blueberry and gouda chocolate was amazing. I’ll definately be back for holiday gifts.

Earlier this year I was gazing wistfully at the chocolates in the display case at the North Market location of this shop, and noticed that they had some chocolates stenciled with sheet music patterns. Since my sister, a pianist, is graduating this spring, I made a mental note to come back and get a box or two for her reception.
Fast-​forward to the week before the reception and I made a quick run to the North Market to get a couple boxes of the musical themed chocolates. Unfortunately, there were only a few left in the display case, but the lady working the booth offered to call to their Grandview location. They offered to bring more over in later in the afternoon, or I could go over to Grandview, where there were plenty in stock. I had to zip off to work, but the next day I drove over to Grandview.
The chocolatier was working in the back, and apologized for the wait once he made it up to the front counter. I asked about getting a couple boxes of the music note chocolates, and he remembered me from the previous day’s call, and had boxes already made up for me! He even discounted them for the trouble of having to come to this location instead of the North Market, without me asking or indicating that it had been any inconvenience.
Everyone at the reception loved the chocolates, even the family members who can be very discerning about their sweets.
The chocolate are definitely pricey, but the quality and the service are outstanding. I’m more likely to go back to the North Market location due to proximity, but I’m happy to head over to Grandview if I don’t find what I need.

This is definitely some of the best chocolate I’ve ever tasted. I’m not a big fan of sweets but I’ve always loved chocolate and I’d say they gave me a new appreciation for high quality chocolate.
I’ve tried several of the other popular chocolate places in Columbus and while I enjoyed the others Pure Imagination is definitely my favorite.
Our first time there we browsed for awhile and the guy working (maybe the owner?) asked if we’d been there before. He then explained a bit about their operation and gave us a free sample of their most popular truffle (can’t remember the name) that was freshly made. He was very friendly and patient as we decided which chocolates to take home.
As for the price: When I was studying classical guitar in college I had a transition in teachers that required me to pay for my lessons while between schools. My new professor’s rate was $ 80/​hr. I was floored by the price but thought I’d try it out to see how someone could charge that much. The moment I left I felt like I just got a bargain. I don’t think Pure Imagination’s prices are to that point but I do know whenever I go elsewhere I’m always wishing I spent a little more and came here. I definitely feel I’ve got my money’s worth when I come here!

Wow, what a wonderful accidental stop this evening! I was on my way to visit another store in the area and tempted inside by the darling santa-​land window dress and willy wonka referencing store name. I could not have been more please by what I found inside!
The cases full of chocolate treats were beautiful… and delicious. Owner and passionate chocolatier Daniel is an absolute sweet-​heart; almost sweeter than the chocolate! He was very excited to talk to us about his business and other must-​see locations in the area. He shared his christmas cookies with us and really made the visit special.
The double dipped rice crispy treat was fabulous. The honey truffle was superb. If you’re looking for a special treat or nice experience, this place has it going on!

Great place! Large gluten free options. Nice to whole family. Slipped us some extra chocolate chips at check-​out!

The owner, Daniel, is super nice. Their Chocolate is DIVINE!!! Must try the pearl truffle! I was getting a gift box for a friend and I ended up getting some truffles for myself and my colleagues too. All of us loved it! Will definitely go back to try their new flavor.

I have been going to pure imagination for years, starting with their location in the north market. They keep me coming back! Their chocolates are really special and if you get the opportunity to meet the owner, you can really tell how much this place and doing this means to him. He is always very nice and I really like when he is there because his joy really adds to the experience. This place is no more expensive than other chocolate shops– but way way way better! Take a date here and sample a few and it’ll be some of the best things you’ll put in your mouth.

I’m not quite the artisan chocolate fan because I usually enjoy my chocolate in larger quantities. But I do think this store has a place, especially a place that is down the street from the behemoth that is Jeni’s ice cream.
We had a dessert item (I think it was a tart of some sort) and some gelato. The fact that I can’t recall the dessert item may indicate something. I do recall that it tasted good, but nothing to write home (or on Unilocal) about.
Also I still need time to appreciate the consistency of gelato. It’s in the middle of creamy and melted, and coming from an ice cream mentality where I need it cold and frozen, the texture needs getting used to.

Beautiful selection, very high quality chocolates, outstanding gelato, and super friendly and knowledgeable service. Will be back often.

I have enjoyed visiting Pure Imagination Chocolatier at the North Market many times over the years, but today was the first day that I have visited the Grandview location. It was very easy to find with clear signage from the street. Parking was available on the street as well as a nearby parking lot behind several of the other stores.
When I walked into the store with my friend, I was very impressed with what I saw. There was a gelato display, a display of chocolate confections, a display of truffles, and another display of other treats. The presentation was amazing! We also had the pleasure of meeting Daniel Cooper, the chocolatier behind Pure Imagination Chocolatier. The smells and the few chocolates we got for ourselves were a pure delight and reasonably priced. I also bought a large box of truffles to bring home to share with my family. It was very difficult narrowing down the list, and Daniel patiently helped me with my decision-​making by pointing out what was unique with each truffle.
To summarize my experience, it was wonderful, and I look forward to returning back to Pure Imagination Chocolatier during my next trip to Columbus!

Dropped in here the other night on my way to something else, in hopes of finding a B-​day gift for a friend… and it worked out very well, may I add. The young lady on staff, though, new, was very friendly and helpful. She happily gave me explanations on pricing, the make up of the various candies, and suggestions for what I could do in regards to the gift I needed.
They offer quite a range of interesting items, too, including bags of chocolate coated nuts and such, tasty looking cakes, and of course a whole range of truffles and clusters that are priced by piece or pound, depending. Along with classic combinations like chocolate and raspberry, chocolate and peanut butter, and chocolate and mint, there are also some interesting variations such as blueberry and gouda, key lime, white chocolate mango clusters, and chocolate coated potato chips. In short, there’s something for anyone, really. Presentation is very nice too, with very pretty truffles and decoration on the chocolate bars.
I haven’t heard yet from the friend how she liked her sweets, but I was very impressed by the ones I bought for myself. I’m especially fond of the milk chocolate, which melts in your mouth with plenty of flavor and a nice, smooth texture. But both flavors are very good, and the shop offers little samples of the chips they melt down to make their candies to help you decide which way to go.
The biggest problem I have was parking, but that might because I’m unfamiliar with the area and not a big fan of parallel parking on busy streets. If you can find a spot, though, it’s definitely worth checking out.

The Sicilian pistachio chocolates are amazing. The cantaloupe sorbetto is light and delicious as were the mango and pistachio gelato that Daniel gave us generous samples of. It’s a beautifully simple shop with gorgeous and delicious sweets.

AMAZING! I love their location in the North Market and this location is like that only better! They have their amazing chocolates, but they also have gelato, and italian soda’s, and more varieties of chocolate! It is amazing! Walk on by and check it out.
