Striders is West Michigan’s premier running retailer. With two locations and 15 years experience we serve the greater Grand Rapids’ area with all their running, walking, and triathlon needs. Our original location in Grandville has been running strong since 1998, Both location are owned by the same founding family.

Striders motto is «Setting The Pace,» we do this by providing unmatched customer service and expertise among our staff. When customers come to us they know they are getting the best fit for them whether it be shoes apparel or accessories. Every customer shopping for shoes is «fitted» for free by our knowledgeable staff taking into account their running or walking habits, foot type, and specific needs to stay healthy and comfortable.

The Story of Striders, from our owner, Steve Webster.

Everybody has a story as to how they first started a new endeavor. For us, Steve and Deb Webster, it began in 1982. We both decided it was time to introduce an exercise regimen into our daily lives. We chose running. Not only did this prove to be a physical challenge, it also tested our mental ability to push ourselves farther and faster. In those first few weeks we literally would watch the traffic signal light down the street and not start until we were sure we wouldn’t have to stop our run. As time went on we were able to run 3 or 4 miles without walking. Six months after we started running, we ran out first race, a 10K. It was a real challenge, but after crossing the finish line, we were hooked! We continued to run and race, and in 1998 we decided to open a running specialty store in Grandville and share all we learned about running and running equipment.
