I had just placed my SUV in the shop for a week and was riding my motorcycle and then have brake problems and had to place it in the shop and needed a way back home. I discovered Runabout through Unilocal and it had all these 5 star ratings so I thought I would give it a try. The website was very easy to use. The only drawback was that you had to give them three hours notice so I had to wait at the dealership for a period of time before the pickup but they were on time. Polite and carrying on a good conversation on the way back home which makes you feel more like a friend then just a customer like and care about. Will definitely use them from now on. I was advised that through the email Communications I could have asked for earlier picked up time. It was just the software it’s a three-​hour window out there.

Scheduling pickup was easy. It was reasonably priced. Driver was friendly. Couldn’t ask for much more than that.

Used their services twice in the past month and very happy about it. They are reliable, professional and very punctual. The reservation process is simple. You know exactly how much it would cost. Wow! What can I say about these guys?! They are fantastic, we will NEVER use a taxi or shuttle again. Used them last year for a trip out west and John was very punctual and polite. I was returning at night alone on the flight back and he waited until I got in the house to leave and helped me get my things to the door.
Just last week we used them to get to the airport for a trip to Costa Rica, in my haste (and stupidity), I forgot my phone in the car. They called my mother and offered to drop it off to her, but she unfortunately doesn’t live in town. John just graciously dropped it off at my house now that we’re back in town and wouldn’t accept a dime for doing so. If that isn’t customer service I don’t know what is! This is truly a company with integrity and pride in what they do. I will ALWAYS recommend these guys for anyone I know who needs a ride that I can’t provide.

I was taking the train home and had to drop the car at the airport before needing to be at the train station. This service was wonderful. The driver on time and waited for me to figure out where my car went! Very nice guy, clean car, friendly service. LOVED!

Thought it was about time to post a review since I have been utilizing Runabouts since I moved to GR soon after May 2013.
I found Runabouts through Unilocal and based on the great reviews started to utilize Jon’s services for my weekly trips to GRR Airport. When I started to utilize Jon he just had the single car and I was impressed at how he managed to fit all of his regular appointments in — I wondered when he got time to sleep.
Over the last 18 months of using his service, he has added another vehicle and I hope to see him expand further in 2015. I have never had any issues with Runabouts being late to a pickup and when my return flights are delayed he is always flexible in being able to still pick me up — even when I have arrived in at 1 or 2am.
Runabouts has a great website for trip estimating and booking as well. Runabouts car’s are spotless inside and out.
I recommend Runabouts to everyone out there looking for a great car service. Prices are comparable to other firms out there but with consistently high service Runabouts definitely is the company to reach out to.

I used Jon for after my daughters wedding reception in April. Booking was easy and you get a confirmation the day before. He picked me up after midnight, I felt very safe and comfortable with him. Would definitely use him again.

Move over, Grand Rapids taxis! Runabouts is now in town.
What a find! I ran across Runabouts when I googled for taxi alternatives while arranging transportation for my mentally challenged stepson in Grand Rapids. Why I decided to give them a try:
1) I could see the cost up front. Not an estimate, but the actual charge.
2) I received confirmation of availability within seconds, then an email re-​confirmation a minute or two later. This was followed by a personal note from Jon — a relief to know a human saw it and reconfirmed — especially when I did this from San Francisco.
My stepson’s report is that, as requested, Jon called when he was on his way. He was there exactly when he was requested and was 5 minutes early for the return trip.
So thank you, Jon! And here’s hoping that your business takes off in a big way but that you keep that perfect combination of professionalism and personal touch.
From now on, whenever my stepson needs a ride, I will be scheduling via Roundabouts. Cabs will be the last resort.

It is always a little nerve racking when the Executives I support travel to new locations and require airport transfers. When traveling, especially on busy business trips, the last thing you want to worry about is if your airport transportation will be reliable. That all said, I have officially found the service I will continually book when my Executives travel into Grand Rapids!
The online reservation tool was so simple and fast to reserve the pick-​up. Everything was clear and the immediate confirmation email made me feel better about selecting this service. When Jon, the owner and driver, reached out very shortly after to confirm meeting location and just touch base, I was impressed! It’s nice to find a company that takes the time to double check reservations and preferences.
In following up with my travel-​weary Executive, the transportation was the easiest part of her trip. Jon was friendly and on time. He’s definitely made repeat customers out of my company!

I had an early, early morning flight a few days before Christmas. We’re talking about leaving my place at 4:30am… My only options as far as friends/​family go for getting a ride to the airport consist of my friends who are (fairly) new parents and my girlfriend’s grandparents… so pretty much nonexistent.
The next option are taxi services. I know Grand Rapids is a wanna-​be city, so we’ve got taxi services flying around. I’ve seen them on the highways. I Google all the taxi services in the area only to find frightening reviews on almost all of them. You’ve got to love the internet, people. Review after review about how call centers are rude, cars don’t show up, cars are unacceptably late (more than 30 minutes), and so on.
Suddenly, somehow, I come across a company called Runabouts. Glowing reviews are all that they have and it sounds like a dream come true. Better yet, these glowing reviews don’t come off like other fake, glowing reviews that some companies are notorious for. I decide to take my chances with Runabouts.
I go to the website to book my pickup the next morning. To my dismay, it says I must book 24 hours or more in advance. Damn my procrastination! I’ve only got about 22 hours ’til I need to be picked up. I decide to take another chance and use the «Contact Us» form to e-​mail the company and see if there’s any chance I can still get a ride.
Within in a few hours I’m e-​mailed back by Jon. He says he’s more than happy to pick us up and he’ll even stick with the quoted rate I was given on the website ($ 26 from my place near downtown GR to the airport). Bam, you got it, buddy… let’s do this.
Ten minutes before he’s supposed to pick us up, my phone rings. Jon is calling to confirm we’re actually awake and let us know he’ll be there in ten minutes. Nice touch. As 4:30am approaches we walk down to our parking lot and the car pulls in right as we’re locking up. An impeccably clean car (Chevy Impala) awaits us and Jon loads are bags into the trunk. This is going wonderfully!
Halfway to the airport as we’re running through our minds everything, we realize I forgot to grab the bag of presents for our Christmas gather. Not good. Jon asks if we need to turn around. and we obviously do. I messed up but Jon handled it like a pro. We still made it to the airport with plenty of time and he didn’t even drive like a maniac, speedy but not dangerously. Much appreciated.
As I’m paying (with a credit card right in the car! AWESOME!), I realize I may have to pay a little extra for the unplanned detour. Jon tells me not to worry about it and wishes us a happy holiday. Seriously, what a great gesture. Small, but it’s one that definitely counted and I appreciate it.
I cannot say enough good things about Jon and his business Runabouts. Prompt service, professionally run, exceedingly kind, and the very model of what someone would be expecting from a car service. Prices that are remarkably affordable are the super sweet icing on top of your favorite birthday cake. When you need a ride in the Grand Rapids area, I implore you to call Runabouts.
