Specialties
GR Makers is an open community lab incorporating elements of a machine shop, a workshop, and a design studio. Located in an 8,500 square-foot space near downtown Grand Rapids our members work on projects that range from the industrial to the delicate arts. Together we are building a community focused on three key goals: enabling personal expression, providing education for all ages, and supporting entrepreneurship.
History
Established in 2013.
Founded in 2013 GR Makers was established to provide a place to exercise your creativity using a broad range of tools and learn new things in a variety of workshops. Each workshop, or «studio» is lead by a coordinator who helps members learn about electronics, metal-working, sewing and fiber arts, wood-working, 3D printing, laser cutting, and much more.
No matter your background you will find people to encourage you and challenge you to think of things in new ways.
