Mesa County RSVP, Inc. is an organization for people 55+ who want to build the healthy future of our community through volunteerism.
History
Established in 1973.
Mesa County RSVP, Inc. began operations in 1973 with 100 volunteers sponsored by Community Social Services of Colorado West, a branch office of Catholic Charities. The Mesa County Board of Commissioners assumed sponsorship of RSVP in 1981. In September 1988, sponsorship changed to Mesa State College. In 1994, sponsorship shifted to the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce for a one-year interim sponsorship. July 1, 1995, Volunteer Central of Mesa County, Inc., took over sponsorship of the Mesa County RSVP. June 1999, Mesa County RSVP, Inc. became a nonprofit corporation, and in March of 2000, received permission from the Corporation for National and Community Service to continue without another agency sponsoring us. This began a new era for us. We are now an independent 501©(3) Nonprofit Organization.
