Dr. Hutchinson is originally from Fort Collins, Colorado but spent the majority of his life in South Eastern Washington and North Eastern Oregon. Growing up with a father in Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Hutchinson was given an insight to all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, as well as instilling a passion for the profession. Dr. Hutchinson is married to Dr. Julie Hutchinson, M.D. Julie is a boarded internal medicine physician who practices in Glen Rose, Texas.

After graduating from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989, Dr. Hutchingson opened his own mixed animal practice in Spokane, Washington. However, the lure of working with horses prompted him to build his first equine surgical hospital in 1996. He practiced there until 2006, at which time he came to Texas and started Stephenville Equine Hospital.
