History

Established in 1990.

Texas Dog Academy has been serving Granbury and surrounding communities since 1990.

We provide gentle leadership to enable dogs and their families to establish communication and pack order, creating happier pet families. All training is praise-based — dogs are not trained to perform tricks for treats.

All training is guaranteed for the lifetime of the dog.

And, when you board with us in the future, dogs who have gone through our training program are given a refresher course to make sure they are still behaving and performing at their peak.

Meet the Business Owner

Bill W.

Business Owner

Professional Dog Trainer Bill Walters has been training dogs since 1970.

Bill began his dedication to dog training at the Southwest Police Dog Academy in Houston.

Having found his niche in the professional world of dog care and training, Bill worked as a security guard with a canine companion before being selected as an apprentice by the legendary Hollywood dog trainer Chet Kinnaman.

Bill worked with Mr. Kinnaman as a trainer and handler for several advertising spots and on movie sets for White Fang and The Wild Wild West.

Bill founded Texas Dog Academy in Austin in 1972. He relocated to Acton, Texas (near Granbury) and opened his current Academy in 1990. The Texas Dog Academy trainsapproximately 150 dogs every year.

Bill’s training credentials and the service he offers his clients can be summed up in Texas Dog Academy’s motto: «In dogs we trust».
