History

Established in 1978.

History of Hoffbrau SteaksEarly to mid 1800′s German settlers, who helped develop the Hill Country of South Texas, also recreated their beloved «hoffbraus» or «beer gardens» where local townspeople, farmers and ranchers gathered to enjoy hearty meals and brewed beverages in a setting that was naturally casual yet humming with conversation and warm friendly service. What began as a «hoffbrau» in South Texas truly was the original of the Texas Hill Country Steakhouse… a tradition that our family has continued since opening Hoffbrau Steaks in 1978.

Hoffbrau Steaks is family owned and the best little Steakhouse in Texas. We have 5 locations and serve USDA choice steaks aged to perfection. Our mission is to Wow our Guests 5 senses, with the sixth sense … anticipating what our Guests want. We are genuine Texas casual and our food is made from scratch, with love. Laid back Rustic style with good olé Southern Hospitality. Great service in the bar and the restaurant. Met a friend for Sunday lunch. Good cold beer and nice wine selections at very fair prices.
I had the chicken fingers with mashed potatoes and gravy — Yum! Great Comfort food. My companion had Salmon and said it was great. We split the Red Velvet Cheesecake for dessert and it was drenched in Hershey’s syrup. Looked better than it tasted but that was my only complaint. Good food, good prices and good service — Yes, I’ll be back!

So — I wanted to give 3 stars because the steak was really good and cooked to perfection.
But…
2 stars because we would told a 15 minute wait which turned out to be 30 minutes AND it was not that busy! A hostess that was so busy chatting with her work buddies to even smile or acknowledge the long wait time.
2 stars because after we were seated it took another 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged to get drinks!
2 stars because it took 10 minutes to bring us 2 drinks and she tried to walk away and «let us look over the menu» Really? We were already seated 25 minutes — I think we looked it over!
2 stars because when I needed a drink re-​fill I had to go to the bar and get it myself because our freaking waitress NEVER came back to check on us!
2 stars — and I have nothing left to say except, if you want a good steak while in Texas go here just don’t expect much more.

Beer prices are higher than any other place in town. Food is usually good and reasonably priced. Better choices in town if you are just looking for a place to have a drink.

Food was over cooked and bland. I ordered the smoked sirloin with a baked sweet potato as a side. That sweet potato was ridiculously small. I couldn’t believe they had the nerve to put it on the plate. I told the server who didn’t seem to understand why it was an issue. Concerned I would get another small one, I requested a loaded baked potato instead. We were there as a group (6 people). None of us were impressed with our meal. It wasn’t even worth trying the desserts.

Pros: Minimal wait time, Texas Pesos for Appetizer (yum!!), amazing steaks. Atmosphere was nice and really great service. Would definitely go back.
Cons: Our seat was in the back under an AC vent, so we were freezing the whole time. Texas toast was barely toasted bread with some oil– the rolls that came with our meal were much better.

Not too shabby for a steakhouse around these parts. Nothing spectacular but not awful, it’s just pretty good ya know? One of those places you go to change it up when your regular spots have burned out. The food has pretty good flavor, I’m a fan of the Dr pepper bbq smoked sausage and three cheese macaroni.

Prices are good and the food is above average for a chain restaurant. We eat there often and if you get a bad steak, they will replace it, no questions asked. A much needed place to eat in Granbury and a good place to bring a guest.

Food was just OK. But upon leaving out table and not even getting to our vehicle, our daughter remembered she left her Oakley sunglasses on the table. She immediately walked back in and our table was partially cleaned and sunglasses were gone. Manager of evening, Amber, asked bus person assigned to table & said saw the sunglasses but returned to finish cleaning the table and claimed they were now gone!!! REALLY? Amber took our name and phone number but if she didn’t insist on finding them on the night we were there, you know they are gone forever. And you guessed it, no phone call stating they have been found. So if you are in Granbury and want a subpar meal and risk theft then by all means go. I will never return and make sure others know of our experience!!!

Great food. Didn’t have to wait too long, even though Sat night. Love the t-​bone & grilled sweet corn. My family enjoyed the red velvet cheesecake too. Its décor is uniquely rustic. Bryant, our attentive waiter, was awesome in ensuring our thorough satisfaction. Highly recommended!

I went here for lunch about six months ago and it was great. I don’t usually order a steak for lunch but I did that time. Everything was great including the service. Fast forward to this trip six months later for dinner. We arrived at 9. no big deal cause they close at 10 but apparantly the servers and the kitchen staff were clearly wanting to leave already. Server was not engaged at all. My wife told her thanks for bringing our drinks and the waitress never said a word. I told my wife well maybe she didnt hear you but it happened again later. Finally after 45 min our food arrived and all four of the dishes were cold. Felt like they had been sitting in the kitchen for 20 min. Not going back.

Wow — passing through — and lo and behold — hoffbrau is back!
Good was hot, perfectly prepared — and of course service was its normal five star !

Food is decent. Had the 240 burger and the chicken salad, grilled with the house vinaigrette. I like vinegar, and the dressing was very sour, a plus. The grilled chicken could use a good bit more seasoning and was a little over cooked (tough). The charred bread pieces for croutons was a nice touch. Burger could also use a little more seasoning. Burger came out before the salad, because somebody took the salad, not a big deal. Service was good, Charlotte did a great job.

The best part of a review of a steak place should never be a side item. I got bone in ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. That’s an amazingly rare feat. Even the perfect color couldn’t help the so-​so steak flavor. Just not much going. Again, not bad, but not amazing.
However the Mac and cheese is CRAZY good. But again, I came for a steak not Mac and cheese.
Overall not a bad experience clearly and i would try them again.
