Cashier is not helpful to people with disability. Asked me to bring my items to other side of counter since that is where her register is. They were stocking and boxes were on the way. Red Barn needs to hire better help and loose the rift raft. Visited on Friday November 20, 3:45pm. Will only return if in a absolute need. Plenty of other fine operators there.

Not sure about all the low star ratings. Everyone I have been helped by is always pleasant and helpful for the past 3 years I have been going. Not a big chain store so they have some hard to find items which Is why I go, and they carry quality dog food. It’s a pet supply, you go, get your stuff and get out.

I’ve been shopping at Red Barn for +25 years, but after my experience in the Granada Hills location yesterday I’ll never spend another dime there even if I have to pay more. Readers Digest version — I wrote a check — the clerk same guy that took my check 2 weeks ago told me they can’t take checks with a po box — I pointed out that they’d been taking my checks from the same account with the same po box on it for 25 years and showed them the check they took 2 weeks ago with the same po box — I was informed by a young lady with purple hair — probably born sometime after I opened the bank account I’ve been using to write checks to Red Barn for 25+ years that my «attitude was not appreciated» — I guess my $‘s and 25+ years of loyal patronage are not appreciated either.

bill — owner — we have three great danes — we would have spent some big bucks here — your clerk at 10:30 am on tuesday, march 31^st is unprofessional and is the reason —- we and several others left the store — do not go here for your pet needs !!!

I have a cat that has very special and specific dietary needs. My vet had prescribed a special single protein food for her and after looking all over, Red Barn was one of the only places that carried it. And the price was a little lower than the nearest competitor.
I had to bring in the prescription for the food. Why? They said it was because the special nature of the food requires proof that it was doctor ordered. Okay, I brought them the prescription. They put it in a «special» folder for doctor ordered food and recorded my name and information in a special order folder so they food could be ordered. Since it was special and expensive, I could understand they didn’t want to keep a stock that they may or may not sell before it expires.
Well, we got one batch of food with no problems. The usual new order issues notwithstanding, it was smooth. That was the last time I had it smooth with them. Jump ahead a month for our second shopping trip to get food. They don’t have the prescription or the standing order I placed recorded. We had to order and wait another week longer than we should have and we ran out of food for her.
This happened again today. I called to place an order for pick-​up on Wednesday, the day they get their shipment. The young lady who answered the phone was rude, dismissive and let the phone off the hook so long I had to call back to get service. She had a thick accent and was seemingly bothered that she had to deal with someone on the phone. She looked and found nothing of my prescription or past orders. When I asked why she couldn’t tell me. I then asked to speak to the manager Jamie.
He told me that they had undergone an audit or something and did not have my info anymore. The unprofessional way he handled the situation really was sad because I’ve spent a lot of money there for food for my cat.
I recommend that people avoid this store because they have very unprofessional staff as well as very poor record keeping. If you have special needs and require specialty items… look elsewhere. you’ll have a better time finding it.

I went in today 12/​19/​2014 to purchase a Nyla bone for my dog. I thought the prices were high so I checked them on eBay. The owner confronted me and told me that I am not allowed to use the phone at his store. I told him I can use the phone wherever I want. He told me he would refuse service to me. I told him I would leave him a bad review. He gave me the middle finger.

Went in last week to price cat food. The salesman (didn’t get his name), Latino man, was so awesome and helpful! Just a genuine nice man. They have the coolest little bunny there named Timothy. I think the girl working there said he was an Angora Lion head bunny. He was gorgeous! I would def come back here just based on the customer service alone. I think the prices are comparable to petco and petsmart. They have a huge parking lot and are located near The Salvation Army Thrift store.

I used to really like this place and always shopped here. I bought food for both my cat and dog, as well as stuff like a huge cat tree. I really liked the prices and the service. However, about a month ago, I tried to return some $ 3 cat treats that neither my cat nor dog (who eats everything) would eat. I assumed there was something defective with them.
The assistant manager, a woman, would not give me credit for them and was really nasty. So I’ve decided not to shop here any more.

It sad that they won’t work with their customers when they don’t have the product the customer needs!
They suck so bad due to today’s businesses stuck on GREED!

Great service but prices are outta this world… like Beverly Hills World. A caveat for every coupon, so don’t let the marketing bring you in

I always go out of my way to come here instead of petco which is a block away from my house. The prices are cheaper and the staff is friendly. They even helped me by changin my dogs diet when her hair was falling off and her skin started changing due to bad dog food. I didnt even have to ask, they told me why it happened, what she should eat and until when. Now she looks amazing! :)

The people who work here are very nice and there is a decent selection.
The reason that I give them low stars is that it is way overpriced.

Really fast service. I had to come by and pick up my cat’s special diet food. They had his name down under my dad’s name too, so they knew what to get off the shelf. Good prices too.
Parking is huge. In the front and back.

I love this red barn. The prices are amazing for the food I buy my dogs and they have peepee pads for cheap (compared to big chains. They also have a $ 5 dollar off coupon online :)

The prices are ridiculous! Or maybe Petco just likes to mark up on the prices. The Wellness can food that I bought from Red Barn was 40% cheaper than Petco! I couldn’t believe how cheap they were!
The staff was very friendly and was willing to help. Thanks for the great experience there and I’ll definitely be coming back to stock up on my dog’s food. :)

I absolutely love this pet store. I really believe it’s a «hole in the wall» secret of pet supply wealth! They carry THE BEST dog/​cat food brands out there, and more importantly, the staff knows what they’re doing.
My maltese dog was suffering terrible food allergies (big sores on his skin, itching paws, irritated eyes,) etc. The symptoms suddenly appeared at about 2 years of age, and I was so confused since nothing about his food had changed since he was a puppy. My vet and I tried so many food trials/​eliminations and shots. Nothing seemed to be helping. Not grain free, not raw, nothing.
Finally, I stopped at this place after total frustration at another pet store, and the friendly clerk recommended «Natural Balance — Limited Ingredients — Bison and Sweet Potato». He made sure to find a grain-​free food, but HE ALONE suspected a «poultry or fowl» problem in my dog based on the breed. He was so right on! Not even three weeks later, the spots and bumps were disappearing. I now purchase the matching treats and canned wet food. My dog is allergy free and happy as can be.
Now, I know just recommending the perfect food doesn’t make this place great, but their overall environment, product selection, and attitude does! This place is top notch. If they run out of something, they will promptly call you when it’s back in stock. They’re friendly, helpful, and very knowledgable. Love them.

I came here a few times to buy feed for my chickens. The last time, I got a bag of pellets that was dust and they refused to take it back for an exchange. Now, I know legally no business has to take returns or exchanges, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I was further irked when the woman behind the counter said I could use it as kitty litter (I don’t have a cat), and they «have people who come in all the time to buy chicken feed to use as kitty litter because it’s natural.» Say whaaaat??? I wanted to say to her, «J. M & J, do you have the sense you were born with, lady?» Instead, I just left and I haven’t been back.

i was directed here by my groomer to find more nutritious food for Mimi to help reduce her itching and scratching. the people who work at Red Barn are very knowledgeable about their products and were willing to answer any questions i had about the food. apparently ~7% of dogs are allergic to corn meal, and it turns out that most of the dog foods out there (Pedigree, Iams, etc.) list corn meal as the first ingredient, meaning it’s the most abundant ingredient they use in that food.
i picked out a bag of Advanced Pet Diet with the help of worker and he was quick to explain how i should introduce the food into Mimi’s diet over the next week. if he didn’t explain that, i might’ve had a big mess on my hands… er…in my backyard. so helpful!
a lot of their pet foods are buy 10 get 1 free, and some of them they even keep track for you!
i will definitely keep going back to this store, because they’re nice people with decent prices, and i love my dog :)
