I’d long been curious about this bar, a cinder-block fortress in the middle of a sea of gravel. I’d tried to visit once before, on a Saturday morning, after first calling to confirm the hours. I arrived half an hour after the opening time I was told and it was not open. I finally got another chance to visit recently. The parking lot was full and my car was the only vehicle that was not a pickup truck. The inside is pretty much as stark as the outside is. I was hoping a place in business this long would have more character, but I guess there’s not a lot you can do with concrete. The interior is painted a medium slate gray. As one would expect in a place like this, there’s pool tables and a small dance floor. The crowd was rough and rowdy but not in a bad way(at least not yet). We were clearly outsiders and were largely ignored. The bartender was ok, but disappeared for a while to hang out with her regulars at one of the tables. The place isn’t bad for what it is, but I was hoping for something more interesting.
