I’m a pretty inexperienced golfer, having swung a club maybe five times in my life. So, really, who would have the patience to have me walking around a course and slowing down people’s games? Thankfully, there are a few places in the Valley that offer indoor golfing, where you can hit 14-stroke holes and no one will get mad at you for holding them up. That’s because at places such as Bunker Indoor Golf in Goodyear, you hit the balls into a virtual screen, and they immediately come rolling right back to you. And you and whoever you are with get your own private screen, meaning there aren’t groups of people on your tail. The spot, which offers 18 holes for about $ 20, allows golfers to play courses from all over the world, which have been recreated using video technology, not animation. That means that what you see on the screen looks exactly like the real thing, and you can play beach-y or forest-y spots while it’s raining at night in Phoenix. The place also offers beverages, including beer and wine, just like you can get on a real course. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is friendly and willing to help with just about anything, and I can shoot a 100-stroke game in less than 3 hours. Score! If you live in the Chandler/Gilbert area, Crosswoods Indoor Golf offers a similar service. I haven’t played there myself, but a friend recommended the locations.

GREAT venue! Had my boyfriends 40th bday here and we were treated like royalty & even w/a groupon. Generous portions on food… all you can eat sliders for $ 13, wing Wednesdays, beer on tap & wine… all the bases covered! You can’t beat this during the summer months when its too hot to golf in the sun… for $ 30 you get 18 holes on Pebble Beach! This isn’t «Wii» golf either — these are actual pictures of the course so its as real as it gets. We played best ball w/a group of 7 of us in two bays and had a blast! Bring your own clubs if you have them, or rent some at the desk. The manager was awesome — gave the boyfriend a free hat for his birthday and a patron at the bar bought us a pitcher of Shock Top to help celebrate. The kitchen came up w/a dessert(the only thing not on the menu) so we could do the whole embarrassing blow out the candle moment — the extra mile was reached and in the rearview mirror with these guys and gals. They also do lessons, have a poker night in thier back room and other programs they are proposing — so can’t wait to see what they come up with. Give them your email and they will send you coupons and alerts to special events. It’s a restaurant, a bar and you can golf in the a/c on prime courses like Pinehurst #2 — no Augusta… yet. I only take one star away since I wish it was much closer than Goodyear — they also have one in Chandler and Gilbert — but that’s still too far for us living in the burbs of Glendale… Will definitely be back, its worth it!
