Zodo’s Bowling & Beyond

I will give it 2 stars instead of 0 because I love the bowling alley and bar, but our dining experience was unimaginably horrible. Mariah served us and spent her evening unprofessionally walking around flirting with the rest of the staff. She asked us after one minute of being seated what we wanted to eat and we said we would need more time. She came back 2 minutes later and asked us the same thing. We still did not know after 3 minutes of reviewing the menu, so she rolled her eyes and stomped away. She then ignored us for a very long time to the point where one of the bartenders finally came over to apologetically take our order. We received no service the entire meal and felt purposefully ignored while she socialized with her fellow staff members in a near empty restaurant. She also made an effort to occasionally glance over at us and smirk. 15 minutes after we finished our food, she ran over and literally threw the check at us and said thanks. The receipt read «Thank you! –Mariah :) P. S. Sorry I was a little busy; but I hope you come back! :)» Sure you were Mariah, a little busy not doing your job. If you ever get her as your server at Zodos, be sure to read the menu at light speed or you will not eat that night.

We had a wonderful experience bowling and playing games! Christina was especially helpful in the arcade. Thank you!

What a blast! I take my wife and children here regularly. Terrific, non-​greasy food and buffalo wings I simply cannot go without. Delicious beers and great staff. Sports of every kind on a plethora of huge TV’s and speakerboxes that can be brought to your table if you need to hear the specifics. Great bowling, awesome bar. If you want a boisterous but clean place to take the family, this is the place to be.

I came into the arcade with my family we tried to play the clown game and we say a metal bar behind the top one. It didn’t go down like the rest. Many people might say that it’s not rigged and just broken and if it is well then there were 4 other games in there broken too. It seems like every time I go there, there is only one working game. Honestly how do they brake? There’s usually no one in there, so you can’t say it was over used. Also, there was no one at the counter when we wanted to redeem our overly priced prizes. We kept asking associates for help and they kept saying that they would be right there. I ended up just taking my family to yogurt land because I wasn’t about to waste another valuable minute on that cheap a** place.
Bottom line:
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!1!!!

Came here for the free bowling and shoe rentals organized by associated students at around 9pm on Thursday. Ended up with having a BLAST! The place was bustling with arcades, had fun with a very clean and well staffed alley, there were many janitors, food clerks, bartenders, and other staff members and all of them were very friendly.
Since our bowling was free, I ordered the largest order of the HOTTEST chicken wings as possible and these really made my night. Yes, it might have been $ 17 for like, 15 – 16 chicken wings, but these were REALLY HOT and I LOVED IT. Food came quickly, and shoutout to the cashier who gave me a water pitcher for that meal! I felt really satisfied with the meal, and the bowling went great on there. This meal didn’t kick me out of Keto the morning after, so thanks for the food and bowling!

Pretty nice bowling alley. Bar is fantastic and has the most brews on tap in SB. Has a pretty full menu for food. Doesnt have very many lanes though. Socks are 1.50 if you need them.

Steve is a responsive manager and the food is delicious! I highly recommend for work events-​they have the Cosmo bowling after 9pm and before 6pm-​but regularly lighting between 6 – 9. Great TVs for sports over the lanes.

Fun place! Great for families, kids love it, sports bar is great! Fun to hang out and let kids go to arcade!

The arcade is horrible. All the decent machines are broken and sitting there dead. As I put the tickets in the ticket counter it broke down, twice. They need to get someone to fix the machines and keep it going or shut down the arcade all together, because the few working machines are crowded with people and makes it frustrating for the kids trying to play and have fun.

It’s about time I give an update, seeing as how I’m here every week… I must like the place, eh?
I remember the days when I would visit a bowling alley back home with my father. It was a «divorced-​parents-​bring-​your-​kids-​and-​bowl/​hook-​up» type of event. Smoke so thick you couldn’t see the other end of the place. A diner served up the most glorious greasy treats and an arcade packed with kids playing Street Fighter II and Spy Hunter rumbled in the background.
It was there I learned how to keep score using the overhead projectors.
Times have changed and Zodo’s is a perfect example of a modern day bowling alley.
All of the elements come together to make this a happening place. The bar boasts 40 beers on tap and an additional bottle selection. College night, football, karaōke all reign in the atmosphere during any given week. The food is surprisingly good, which was put together by the Manager’s chef son and the management staff. A fired pizza oven blazes pies and calzones while the flat top and fryers cook up tasty appetizers, burgers and sandwiches. Come on Taco Tuesdays for $ 2.95 huge and loaded crispy ones (carnitas, ground beef or chicken).
An onsite pro-​shop handles any ball drilling, lessons, and equipment to purchase. My measurements are stored in the computer system… The other day my ball split down the middle (I didn’t know you were supposed to keep your ball at room temperature all the time and had it in my car where the hot and cold got to it). Not to worry, a new ball was ready in minutes and exactly the way I remember it.
The arcade could use some work… it’s ok and the kids love it, but the machines are down a lot and have not been replaced in awhile.
The best part of Zodo’s has to be the staff. Seriously, they could do a reality show there and it would be pretty interesting. Unique but very caring individuals that make you feel like part of the family.
The leagues are a great way to socialize and legally (or not) gamble. I bowl with the oldies… The Sunset League. It’s the best. These old timers will kick your butt. They’ve been rolling that stone down the lane for longer than I have been alive.

I will never make sure I or anyone I know gives this establishment our business ever again. Not only is their service horrible (we called ahead an hour to reserve a bowling lane, arrive right on time, and they claim they can’t track our reservation so we end up waiting for a lane to open up). But the service of the people who work there is less than friendly or hospitable. I’d rather my friends and I spend $ 40+ on a few hours out at a real bar or movie theater or like anywhere else, seriously. Anywhere else.

Zodo’s is excellent, I would kill for this to be in LA! Private parking lot, full bar and menu, full arcade complete with a photobooth, new equipment and balls (extremely impressed with the quick turnaround of bowling turns), awesome and nice staff, decent prices.
First, you get a free shoe rental for checking in on Unilocal (not sure if this is forever or just limited time deal) =] Second, there’s no nonsense waitlist, cuz ain’t nobody got time fo’dat! You pay and you play (at least on a Sunday night). Third, the lanes seem new and turnaround with bowling turns go by really fast! I also saw lockers for rent at the back near the bathrooms.
Plenty of seating for eating and drinking too, I especially love the happy hour they have from 9p-​12a, got some chicken strips and fries which were alright, the strips were a little over-​cooked but we enjoyed it nonetheless. They also bring it to you so you can keep bowling while you wait.
I’m impressed with the staff as they accommodated us when we requested to change lanes because it was too congested at the lane they assigned to us. No frills or hassles.
There’s even a big screen that shows overall high scores against everyone who is bowling! Pretty cool espesh when you’re kicking butt hahaha (not me –_​-​). Overall, this is a great place for friends or a date! I’ll definitely return. *two thumbs up*

Always a good time bowling at Zodo’s especially in summer for «Kids Bowl Free». It’s always clean, good tunes, good eats and all the equipment is in great condition. They have a decent sized arcade for the kids and now they have a photo booth. Show your Axxess card for some discounts.

I love that I can catch my out of town football games on Sunday’s here. They definitely have the best selection of beers on tap! Good service, good atmosphere, good food. Plus one of the few places in Goleta that stays open late.

Always such a fun place to just go and have a drink and great food. Best french dip sandwich I’ve ever had. I’m still dreaming about last night’s meal. Drinks are good. Weak but great.

Fun place but over priced a bit.
I was here on a Saturday night and it was busy. Not busy enough that we couldn’t get a lane but still pretty busy.
Before 9pm when they turn the lights off and it’s all glow in the dark, the place looks a little more of a place for kids. There were a ton of them around. I felt like I was at chucky cheese. Once the lights go off, the place looks way better.
Every employee that I talked to in there was super friendly. So were the people in the lanes adjacent to mine. Safe. Clean.
I didn’t try the food but it looked good. Typical food that you’d find in a bowling alley. Pizza. Wings. Sliders.
We had fun. Even at $ 35 an hour.

I grew up in bowling leagues and Zodo’s has always been a local favorite. Lots of fun, awesome hours, and a great atmosphere. It is pricey and that’s its biggest downfall to me. I still go and enjoy myself though. Great place!

I’m giving this place a solid 5 for several reasons. First and foremost, they didn’t have that heavy grease smell that so many allies have. Second, the place was clean and obviously well taken care of. Loved the black light bowling, and was a little bummed when the lights came on. Without alcohol (long story) I seemed to bowl better in the dark… who knew! The system to put names in was quite easy (many take a PhD to figure out, but not this one). There were few mechanical errors during the games. You know the ones where the pins are not cleared and you have to wait for someone to go fix it! I was really impressed by how user friendly Zodo’s was.
We didn’t order any food because we had a group thing going on, but they set up a yummy buffet for us in a room off to the side. I have to say, it was quite good! There is plenty of extra seating for those that don’t want to bowl, as well as seating for those that do. Sports on tvs around the place, so you won’t miss any important games!

Screw this place. In a town full of extremely diverse college students, they’d never seen an ID from Mexico before? Please. After ten minutes of looking through some outdated ID guidebook, they somehow came to the conclusion that my friend’s ID wasn’t legit. Then as we sat defeated and eating fries at a table, they decided he’d been drinking and that they should go ahead and kick us out (after we’d already paid and tipped, naturally). Not that they told us that they were kicking us out. They just kept saying they wanted to talk to him and refusing to tell us why. What a fun game.
Not going back to this xenophobic hellhole.

Although I’m not really into bowling this place has always been fun to come to. There are different events on different nights as well special things like casino night each year :)
Staff tends to be nice, and the other people there keep the excitement up!
