Urban Escape Day Spa

My sister-​in-​law & I came here just for a relaxing spa day. I did the Urban Getaway package that included a 50 minute massage, a facial (which I upgraded to a chemical peel) and a pedicure. Loved the chemical peel, my skin looked amazing afterwards. The massage was nice but I was disappointed the MT didn’t use proper draping techniques which make you feel like your whole body isn’t exposed while laying naked on the table. The zero gravity chairs for the pedicure were amazing but a bit overpriced for what you get. All in all, I had a great experience and will return again but probably for just a facial & peel.

Visiting Golden I looked for a local spa for a mani/​pedi and massage. Urban Escape was highly rated. I concur… pedicure was wonderful in zero gravity chair… no holding leg up. Massage should have been perfection, 80 minutes of bliss. Jess was recommended. After filling out consent form which asks for preferences, I chose medium pressure and no talking, she got the no talking right. My neck and shoulders feel bruised and are sore to touch today. The pain was an 8 but I thought maybe that WAS medium but the soreness tells me otherwise. I think she was determined to «work» the knots out even though I said I just wanted it to feel good, bliss. My rating would be 5 stars except for the overzealous muscle work.

Today my husband and I had a couple’s massage, and it was wonderful. Heather did an amazing job on my massage. It was so relaxing, and the facility is beautiful. Highly recommend!

5 star day at the spa!
As a 25 year Vegas spa regular, I feel very comfortable giving this place a 5 star rating.
Walking in, you’re greeted by a receptionist who goes over your services. You are then taken on a tour that ends in the changing room. Accept the robe, no matter what service you’re getting… Its your day at the spa!
I had three services booked; pedicure, massage and facial! Can we say Birthday treat!
The Pedicures are done in Zero gravity chairs, which I have never seen. Had the ladies giving the service not been so cool to chat with, I would have surely fallen asleep!
The facial was AMAZING. I got their signature facial and was treated to the best face massage I have ever had! Truly relaxing, I could have stayed there for hours!

Heather was my therapist and I can guarantee you I will see her again. I can honestly say I will follow her anywhere. Massage is such a connecting event that when you have a therapist with the positive, calming and healing energy that Heather has, you never forget it.

Got a Brazilian here. The salon was nice itself, but they didn’t have hard wax as an option so it was a painful repeated set of strips over and over in the same areas. Also got a little scared when I noticed they were double dipping. The waxer said they only did that for the outside areas, and then she switched and started tossing the sticks after applying in more inner/​back areas. Still freaked me out. It’s a Brazilian, you shouldn’t re-​dip! You shouldn’t re-​dip for any body area!!!

My mother and I came in on Saturday for a facial and massage each. The first thing that struck me was the super friendly staff at the front desk, who we checked in with for our appointments. We were taken back into the dimly lit halls (oooh!) to the locker rooms to change into our ultra luxurious and WARMED robes and comfy sandals, which I had accidentally requested at a size too big. No matter. After changing, we were met outside the locker room and led to the relaxation room, to sip hot tea and fill out our new client paperwork. The room was beautiful and oozed with relaxation and comfort. We sat there for maybe 20 minutes (to unwind fully before our services) before being picked up by our estheticians.
Stacey led me back to the room, which was also dimly lit and smelled wonderful. I had never had one before this, and Stacey kindly and politely explained what would happen while soft single — instrument music played from somewhere in the room. She was very gentle, but thorough. I received the signature facial. I was so relaxed by the end, and even though she did recommend a product for me to buy, I didn’t get the pushy sales person vibe that others have mentioned. I was absolutely glowing from the experience. After the facial I was led back to the relaxation room where my mom was already waiting to be picked up for our massages.
Erin was my massage therapist. I was shown a card of «spa la carte» items that I could select as an add on. I chose the «happy feet» (a lavender sugar scrub for your feet for only $ 10) because I LOVE having my feet rubbed. Erin was a very good masseus. She never removed her hands from my body, even whilst moving around the room to keep from startling me with a sudden touch. There was minimal conversation which was fine because I don’t think I could have kept up conversation as my brain was floating around somewhere. It was divine.
After the massage I was given a little pack of Epsom salt to soak in at home and led back to the relaxation room to prepare myself for the real world again. I have never had such a relaxing experience in my life and am sad to be leaving the state so close to my wonderful encounter. I did buy a product from them outside of the services — a cranberry face scrub for my acne prone skin — and am still very happy with the results. Before we go I am scheduling a massage for my boyfriend because I am sure he will love it as much as I did. Sorry for the rant but I just want everyone to understand how OMG it was. Best spa in Colorado. I would say a massage and facial combo for $ 150 (weekend price) is an amazing deal for the environment and service you recieve. 5 stars for sure. I’m giving Urban Escape an extra star after my signature facial with Kandyce (I think!?!). I strategically made the appointment after my last final exam and it was WONDERFUL.
I’m a pretty talkative person at the spa. Some people want to be left alone in the quiet, I like making small-​talk with my estheticians. Kandyce was more than happy to oblige. She kept a good balance between conversation and relaxation. I felt so refreshed and rejuvenated after the service.
As I mentioned in my previous review, I really enjoy the environment here, it is insanely relaxing. The dressing room is clean and equipped with basic amenities (blowdryer, comb, shower).
Urban Escape is my little treat to myself after exam hell. See you after mid-​terms!
PRO TIP: Come a half hour before your appointment and hang out in the relaxation room for a bit. Bring a book for after your service. Hang out and enjoy the calmness before venturing back into the real world…

I went to this place the day after Christmas for the first time. I thought the spa tour was awkward. I’m well aware of everything they offer, I looked at their website before hand. I had a couples massage and peppermint foot treatment. The massage was ok. Not sure the MT really listened to my needs? The peppermint foot treatment was a joke. I would love to get my money back on that service. Not sure if this place is worth the money. I don’t think I would go back. I’m not impressed. The front desk staff could be a little more friendly and act like they like working there. Like some of the other reviews they do try to SELL SELL SELL!

Let Me Explain:
I went to urban escape yesterday to get a long overdue massage. My therapist was Kevin and he did a fantastic job doing a deep tissue massage at my request. The staff was extremely courteous, very nice. The atmosphere and ambiance of the whole place was spot on. Nice background music, cucumber water, silky soft robes and comfy sandals… great stuff.
And here’s the three… well…2.5 star BUT;
But– they really do try to up sell you the entire time you are there. And this place isn’t exactly cheap… not over priced but not inexpensive. When I first walked in an older gal who seemed if not exactly nervous, jittery, showed me around the place and listed other services they could offer to me. When we finally got to the bathroom/​locker room for me to change I was relieved because she was obviously trying to sell me on other services.
Then I came out to the «Relaxation Room» which is a large room with refreshments and comfy chairs while you fill out any first time paperwork and wait for your service… and she was waiting for me with a pamphlet and a list of services that I could upgrade too and took another 10 minutes explaining to me how their membership and rewards points worked… etc. etc… I didn’t want to be rude but I really wanted to interrupt her and say no, I just want my massage today and if I need anything later I will come back! I mean I took the day off to have a relaxing «me» day I don’t want to be pushed into your not-​so-​subtle sales scheme. Thanks.
Then when Kevin came to take me into my room and get started, he also tried to up sell me on different packages to add to the massage ranging from $ 10-​$ 30, which I declined and the massage was just fine. Pretty good even, Kevin, like I said, has some skill with the deep tissue.
A tip to the management and owners– don’t scare away your first time guests with being too pushy. Your place is nice, your services are nice, let them do the talking and coaxing back for you. Rather, focus your marketing campaign out on the streets and online– not right before a massage or pedi.

Didn’t quite know what I was in for. The pedicure was amazing! Price is steep, but worth it for the relaxation.

I want to add that Urban Day Spa contacted me after reading this review to offer me a free service and ask for my patronage again. I do appreciate the effort, but will not be returning. It is evident from my experiences that this spa trains their estheticians to do a sales routine while patrons are on the table. This is unprofessional, the service that is booked is what the spa should be providing. I did up my rating by one star for attempting to rectify the situation.

This is an extremely nice spa… ove the new location. We used to come here when they were in their old spot and am so glad we have returned.
The staff is extemely friendly and very helpful. The services are just amazing (the pedis are a MUST) and it’s so relaxing. You go to other spas and there is so much chatter you can’t even relax. Well, my husband and I were noodles when we left!

By far the best pedicure that I have ever had, even though its a little pricey. I also had a massage here, which was one of the best I have ever had (and I have had a ton of massages). My only complaint is that the prices are higher than I’d like to spend, but I guess that is what you get at a spa. Great, great services. I have not yet been to their new location.

New Location! Wow, the new location sure is fancy. They have a quiet spot in Gateway Station. So I didn’t mention this before but the pedicures are amazing! I’ve taken a few of my girlfriends with me and they instantly became converts. They drive from Denver now to get their pedicures. I try to explain it to people, but you really need to experience it for yourself. I mean have you ever had a pedicure laying down. This has been especially nice during pregnancy.

I admit it, I LOVE going to spas. I have been to many in Colorado and elsewhere, so my standards are high and Urban Escape is not on the radar considering how many fabulous day spas are competing for our pamper-​bucks. Though the atmosphere appears clean and pleasant, shortcomings abound. The «relaxing room» had only one magazine: a 2-​year old 5280 with pages torn out. Two of the three clip-​on lights for reading the advertising material that Urban Spa provides instead of mags (how cheap is that!) were broken. My scrub was rushed and I felt that the server was scrimping on product. In the shower, after the scrub, I was appalled to find NO SOAP at all and the selection of shampoos had water-​soaked, illegible labels. My hot stone massage was pleasant, but the pedicure was not. I agree with the other reviewer’s disappointment at the polish selection… very skimpy, which makes me wonder, along with the absence of soap & mags, where else do they cut back? Well, I found out. When I asked the pedicurist where & how they sanitize their instruments (no evidence in the room) she replied that they did «some sanitizing in the back.» HMMMM. With all the yummy spas at my service, I will not be returning to this one.

Now, I wouldn’t exactly call myself «refined.» Is it refined to wear swimsuit bottoms as underwear when you don’t feel like doing laundry? You get my point. That is to say, I’m no expert on spa treatments, but I know what feels good.
I went to Urban Escape for the signature pedicure (45 minutes and $ 50). I dropped in on a Saturday and they had two openings – for myself and my roommate – which they said rarely happens, so you might want to book an appointment ahead of time. Monica was my technician.
I picked out my polish, but they didn’t have much of a selection, which cost them a star. Your feet are soaked in sudsy water in a copper bowl before the massive, comfy chair you’re sitting in is reclined. A warm, cherry neck wrap is placed around your neck and an eye mask is laid on the eyes. Since I was wearing the eye mask, I couldn’t see what was going on, but it felt flippin’ fabulous. Especially the sugar scrub part (picture Homer Simpson drooling here).
It has been five days and my nails still look great, with minimal scratches – shocking since I spend a lot of time barefoot. All in all, both my roommate and I loved it – so much, in fact, that we booked our next appointment that day, but next time we’re getting the spa pedi, which is 15 minutes longer and comes with a foot mask. Ah, the life of a lush is a good one.

I’ve been to the spa twice. The first time for a wax and the second time for a pedicure. The spa is in a great location. Good parking. Nice atmosphere. And the staff is very friendly. I’ve always had a great experience. The only reason I gave them less than 5 stars is because of their signature pedicures.
When you come into the room they have you sit back in a reclining chair and give you headphones (because of the noise from the biker bar nearby). Then they drape you with a heavy comforter. While I’m sure that it’s very clean and they change the duvet with every customer, it still creeps me out just a little bit. And then you lay back with an eye cover. It’s all very relaxing I even started to doze off. However I much prefer a traditional pedicure. One where I can read the latest gossip mags and watch the technician. Also, the pedicure did not last long at all.
So while the spa is very nice I do not recommend getting one of their signature pedicures.
