The Green Paw And Spaw

I have been in this store a few times. For a smaller store they seem to have a nice selection of good quality natural food, treats, toys, and pet accessories. They have some very cute Colorado-​themed pet items too. I came in today to select a car harness for my puppy. An employee helped me find one that would fit Rio and was even nice enough to try a few on him. Great experience so far. So, I asked if they could trim his nails while I was there. I noticed that he was making some noise in the back but when he came out the employee explained that Rio just didn’t like the noise of the dremel. When we got back to my car, my pup was bleeding everywhere and I quickly located the source — one of his back nails and paw pads. The nail was obviously cut way too short and the paw pad was also hurt. I called the store and they told me he had been wiggly and that it’s difficult to tell with black nails where to cut them. They said they had treated it with something to help stop the bleeding and he should be all right. All of this I might have understood if they had just mentioned it at the time and let me know to watch out for it. I was mainly disappointed in their response and that they weren’t upfront with me originally. Probably won’t be back at all but certainly not for any grooming.

One of my favorite spots to stop when we visit Golden! It’s a cute little store with a lot of high end products, though it’s not too pricey. If you need stuff for your pet give this store a try.

We drive from North Denver to take our pooch Lulu here for her groom. It is a fantastically thorough groom, and as an added bonus, she comes back smelling absolutely amazing. They take their time with the groom; she is usually there for 2 — 3 hours (she’s about 30 pounds, but with a shedding, fine coat). We have not found a better groom for a better price. They use very high quality natural products. The one time she came back a little tweaky, they accommodated us and touched her up promptly. The highest endorsement — she loves going there! She can’t wait to get in the door. For a dog that would not get out of the car, cower and shake for previous groomers, that is a HUGE win. Thanks GPAS!

I love this cool little pet store and spa along Washington in downtown Golden!
I have visited many times either with my pup or for a quick stroll in with the toddler I nanny. We almost always leave with an assortment of dog bakery treats or bones for the dog and nothing more. The prices are a little higher here but I would rather support local stores. We will definitely be back when we need a new leash or harness, etc. They have a variety of collars, leashes, harnesses, toys, and on the go supplies for your dog. Cards, magnets, and figurines you won’t find at a department store as well. They sell a small variety of dog food as well I’ve noticed.
They also offer dog grooming here! We have yet to need this service for our border collie mix but the reviews look great.
Overall I always have a great experience here. The staff is friendly and sometimes there is a dog or two waiting to say hi when you visit.

My pup was smelling pretty bad, so I was really excited to try the «spaw» part of The Green Paw and Spaw. By far the best grooming experience that we have had for Bailey. They only do one appointment at a time which ensures that there is no waiting in kennels for your dog. For $ 35 I was able to get a bath for Bailey as well as a blow dry, nail filing, and the *ahem* awkward butt thing that no one really wants me to go into detail about.
The whole process only took about 40 minutes and when I arrived to pick her up, she was chilling behind the cash register with the employees and not in a cage somewhere. This was a huge positive for me. Add the fact that they gave me a $ 5 discount since it was my first time and you cannot beat the overall experience. This is our new go-​to.

This review is a LONG time coming and would be 6 stars if it could be. We’ve been taking our boy here for the past two years for grooming and they treat him so good. One person in particular is Patti. She is so gentle with our boy and he’s always happy to see her. He arrives with his tail wagging, and struts out when he’s done. They truly listen to what kind of cut you want and give the dogs plenty of breaks to get through their grooming with ease. The entire staff is always friendly. We drive from near downtown Denver to Golden just for them. I seriously would not take my pup anywhere else.

This place will definitely get my repeat business! I have a 110 lb. Japanese Akita who requires a certain amount of TLC when it comes to grooming. When I called and asked about a shampoo, undercoat brushing, potty track, nail clip, teeth brushing kind of endeavor, they said it would be around $ 70 – 80. I thought that was very reasonable given the size of my beast and her sometimes needy temperment. When I brought her in, she pooped right there in the middle of the shop. The staff was in no way thwarted and handled things in a timely fashion. I was told about 2 – 2.5 hours for the groom, which turned into less than an hour. I came back and they gave me a $ 5 discount (presumably because I was a first time customer) and the total bill came to $ 45! I was floored. And, my dog, Nayla, looked BEAUTIFUL! She was happy too. So we walked out the door into the Golden sunset to go home and write this well-​deserved review. You guys are fantastic. Thanks!

So we’re perusing the aisles looking for treats to take home for our dog Blue, and all of the sudden, a horse wearing a backpack appears from behind the dog food rack. Okay, it was actually a great dane, but having spent lots of time around horses, I can say that this dog blew most colts out of the water!
Though not part of the store, I will say that it enhanced my experience. Lost in the wonderment of that incredible beast’s size, we gleefully shoveled scoops full of treats into a bag and happily presented our credit card to the clerk. Even more happy were we upon seeing the $ 7 bill. All those treats for the low, low cost of only $ 7! Victory!
The Paw is loaded with everything you dog does, and doesn’t, need. Food, treats, collars, toys, and more. It’s a cool little dog shop worth a visit.

3. Patty (the groomer) is precious! She is sweet and kind to the dogs and they always walk out of the place with a new ‘strut in their step’
4. New and improved bone, toy, gear and food selection! With new owners came new ideas and items!

A fun find in a little town. I actually don’t own a pet, but many of my friends do, so sometimes I’m motivated to buy them a treat or toy. This place does not disappoint, at least in the number of bones, cartilage and other body parts you don’t want to think too hard about. So many of the items are in bulk cases rather than the plastic wrapped format you’ll find at PetCo and such — this is such a relief to me. For some reason it just turns me off to look at shelves and shelves of shrink wrapped bones/​parts. This is like candy to the dog, perhaps it should be sold in a like manner. Gold star for The Green Paw!
There seems to be a spa in the back — it looked like a nice facility, but I can’t say anything about it.
Downside — the prices might make you choke a little…

I really like this place because when I go in they always greet my dog. I would say that some of the staff need to become more familiar with their products. I needed to get booties for my dog when we go hiking and I prefer to go to a local store for things like that. They had the booties in stock but didn’t really know how to size them and they ended up being too big for my dog and he has several sores from the booties rubbing on his feet. I have solved the issue with the distributor of the booties but it definitely would have been nice to get the right size in the first place.

While some items in here are pricy (I accidentally spent $ 10 for a bone and it turns out that my dog didn’t even like it, oops!) overall prices are good and the staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. I actually thought that their smaller collar selection was superior to Petco’s large selection because they had more variations in options. It is a little place, and more than once they were out of or didn’t carry the item that I needed, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend going out of your way to come but if you are in the area it’s definitely worth popping by.

This pet store in downtown Golden is great! They are more upscale than your standard Petco or Petsmart. The staff is always super friendly and very knowledgeable. I stop in here on special occasions to pick up the buffalo bones, which my dog absolutely loves!
The last time I was here I had to wait in line for a very long time, due to issues with the register. Because of my wait, the owner was very nice and threw in some extra special treats for my pup!

A true gem to Golden – great variety and just a fun place to shop and hang with the dogs. My out of town friends love it and travel to Golden just to go there.

Green Paw is a pet store in downtown Golden that focuses on healthy and eco-​friendly pet products. They also have a self-​wash in the back.
Their prices are very competitive. In fact, when I did some comparison shopping between them and petco for some brushes, they were about half the price!
I just switched to a high-​end, grain-​free food. The staff is very helpful in helping to choose the right food for your dog.
