History

Established in 2011.

Operating under the current owners since 2013, Anytime Fitness Golden continues to be a staple gym of the community. We strive to keep our club up to date with what our members need to achieve their fitness goals. Starting in August 2015 the club was staffed with two new managers, Katy and James. They have implemented a new culture at the club, have been responding to and addressing member issues and have strived to give back and be part of the community by doing food drives, coat and toy donations, and community service. We are starting out 2016 strong and look forward to helping members and new members start their lifestyle change and become part of our community here at Golden.

Manager

I am the new manager as of Fall 2015 and have been with the company for close to a year. I started as a trainer at Anytime Fitness Arvada and have worked my way up to manager and trainer at Anytime Fitness Golden. I have worked in the customer service industry for 14 years and am looking to change the culture of Anytime Fitness Golden to a fun environment where people can achieve their fitness goals and make a healthy lifestyle change.

As we were signing up for a membership I was adamant about only signing a one year contract, and the guy kept trying to pull the wool over our eyes by suggesting that we just sign 2 year because it could be cancelled, but I knew better and insisted on just one year. I had previously heard the horror stories of people having to pay off the remainder of their memberships. So if you know you will only use one year, offer only that.
For one, the parking situation sucks. They have recently decided to take initiative after numerous people have complained about never being able to find parking and have put up signs. It seems to have helped but there are definitely still days where I have to park on the street and walk up because the brewery next door is always packed.
This place can be gross. The cleaning crew only comes once a week and if someone is on a machine while they are cleaning, they won’t come back to clean the machine when that person gets off. It just waits til the next week, and if someone is on that machine the following week, it won’t get cleaned again. Rinse and repeat. The bathrooms are often wet and smell like mildew on most days and they keep the air conditioning set at 75. If there are more than a handful of people working out at once, It’s hot and smells gross.
The good points for me is that it’s pretty close to my house, it’s 24 hours, and sometimes all I need is a treadmill.
So if you live close, want a 24 hour gym for a treadmill and don’t mind parking issues and semi dirty sticky equipment, then this is the place for you. Just make sure you don’t get talked into a contract that you don’t want. And try a week membership first to see if this is the gym for you.

The gym has since been updated from the previous two reviews. Its true the gym is small but I’ve been coming here at peak times during the week and haven’t ever felt crowded, usually 10 people or less during the 5 – 6 pm hour. They have several treadmills and cycles, a handful of elypticals and several weight machines. They’ve also added an additional squat rack, making 2. Boxes, kettle bells, medicine balls etc.
They have a decently spacious room where you can stretch, do resistance training, follow one of several workout training videos, or use the P90X straps and/or rings. The gym has always been clean so far. I think they’ve gotten better at this because I have seen the manager walking around cleaning up each time I’ve been.
They also have a tanning bed and two large bathrooms with showers that are private. The only con’s are that they do not (and will not ever) have a pool, steam room or sauna (as a company-no location does or will). They also don’t have a water fountain, so if you forget your water bottle there’s a vending machine or a gas station across the parking lot. I wouldn’t want this gym to get too popular for fear of overcrowding, but in comparison to the closest 24 hr fitness in west Lakewood, this gym is much much better.

It is a gym that is available when I need it to be, nothing more. The equipment is stacked in about 6 inches apart with barely enough room to move about and it gets crowded and smelly. A select few machines have tvs with static ridden local channels so you may be able to see the news. There is a weird chocolate looking stain on the right handle of the butterfly machine that I’ve waited for someone to notice and clean off for a year; maybe I should detail the machine myself. There are a few obnoxious members that can really ruin the weight area. I guess it isn’t terrible, but out of 5 other anytime fitness gyms I have been to throughout the country… this one is by far the worst.

It’s a gym, nothing special. It is the closet gym which is open 24 hours, so I keep my membership, but it’s lacking in equipment, restrooms and cleanliness.
There is only one squat rack which is always in use by someone, so waiting is a constant when I do leg days. In addition, there are NO barbell weights there. They have one straight bar with 10lbs fixed on each side, but their plates don’t fit on it, so it’s 25lbs or nothing. They also only have one EZ barbell which fits the plates, but only one and sometime EZ barbells aren’t what you need. This makes certain workouts incredibly frustrating.
The cleanliness of the facility leaves a lot to be desired. They clean once in the morning and that’s it. I have actually experienced a staph infection from this gym.
Finally there are only two bathrooms in the entire gym. While most of the time I go the gym is empty, there are times when I’m waiting to use the restroom for several minutes while someone else is changing, showering, or um… using the facilities.
In summary:
The machines work, they have a lot of cardio machines too, but like I said it’s a box gym. Cleanliness and restrooms are an issue. It’s nothing impressive. If there were a 24 hours fitness close by I would switch, but it gets the job done.
