A-1 Metal Stripping

I had eight cathedral-​style furnace vent covers from my 1932 Denver home that were covered in 80 years of old, nasty paint and grime. After stripping two of them myself, I decided to hunt down someone to do it for me. Quotes from a few places that strip furniture were in the $ 50/​vent ballpark.
I used A-​1 years ago, to strip the paint from some motorcycle frames, and having had good luck with them, then, I decided to stop in and see if they’d do the covers. My covers measured 15“x12″ and they said they’d do them for $ 5 each. Woot! What a deal!
I dropped them off on Tuesday and they called me three days later and said they were done. I dropped in, paid them, said hi to the dog and picked up the covers. They look great. All the old paint is gone and they’re ready for paint. The best part, I didn’t have to deal with the chemicals and time-​suck of stripping them myself.
If you have something that you want to paint and its made of metal, give these guys a shout. They’re friendly, quick and do a good job.

Had an unexpectedly great experience here! This place also does business as Wadda Blast, LLC — both have the same address/​phone, but Wadda Blast seems to have a website, while A-​1 doesn’t.
I needed to find a way to get 100+ years of paint off the heating grates that are in our bungalow. I was pretty sure I needed to get them soda/​media blasted, but the quotes I got were both over $ 300 to do 6 grates (eesh!).
I brought the grates up to Golden (only a minor inconvenience, but at least a gorgeous drive!). The location is very convenient to I-​70 (about 5 minutes once you get on CO 58). My quote was a whopping (yes, being sarcastic!) $ 30 — amazing, given the blasting quotes I had received.
A-​1 has a variety of media available to blast, but also has chemical dip tanks, which are perfect for small jobs like our heat grates. They were ready in less than a week! Everyone was super friendly to boot, so next time I need paint removed from metal, I’m going here.
Bonus: I got to see some cool classic cars being rolled out of the blast rooms, all ready for a new paint job!
