History

Established in 2014.

Talk about re-purposed!

Rogue River Lodge at Snag Patch was refurbished using salvage timber (Port Orford Cedar– very fragrant) from the Biscuit Fire (Oregon’s largest wildfire, to date), in 2004. The logged were milled right on site. Rogue River Lodge was a private fishing lodge before being re-opened to the public July 3rd, 2014.

Originally it was Sidels Lodge. Sidels was rebuilt on this site after Sidels was dismantled to allow room for the ‘new’ US Highway 101 downriver, near Gold Beach. The name was changed to Red Baron Resort for a number of years.

Interestingly, the original Sidels Lodge was built out of lumber from the former Wedderburn/Bayview Hotel at the mouth of the Rogue River…3 miles from where Rogue River lodge is now located!!!

We have great historical photos at the lodge of all 3.
