The food is fine, but what really grinds my gears is the staff. They truly do not give an f… and you will receive no apologies-even if your small cheese takes almost a half hour longer than promised. This evening i was literally almost stepped on by a staff member emerging from the employees only area. Friends, the restaurant was empty. But i was almost STEPPEDON. perhaps it was the hood up, obscuring his sight, or maybe the glazed over eyes and vacant expression tell another story. The bottom line is, i will probably be back… but only because i live a couple blocks away.

My bf and I are major calzone lovers. Every time we travel we always try new pizza places. We actually found this place by accident, and went here as a last ditch effort. To our amazement they had calzones. We have tried multiple places since then, and NOTHING beats theirs. The best calzone we’ve ever had. And the portion sizes are huge. We have only ordered to go and takeout… sounds like they are horrible at delivery so just don’t do that option? Its a typical hole in the wall diner, so don’t expect 5 star service people. But do they have good cheap food that fills you up? Yes. With that being said, it’s definitely a hidden gem!

Food is decent to good but employees screw up orders all the time and delivery drivers man handle food! For the 3rd order in a row I got something slightly different than I ordered and part of the order was so squished it was inedible. Will never order delivery from Mike’s again unless I have no other options. And likely won’t order from there at all.

Not the greatest takeout in the city, but certainly not the worst. But it is certainly one of the more infamous restaurants in the city. The food is decent, while some dishes stick out more than others. Pasta and chicken dishes in particular are very well done. Pasta due to a extremely awesome home made sauce and hand made meatballs. None of that frozen stuff, actual home made and hand rolled meatballs. Great stuff. Chicken dishes are amazing as well, especially chicken parm dishes which give you the best of both worlds as they use their awesome meat sauce giving you a bold blend of flavors. Great stuff. The pizza is above average, but some should be eaten at your own risk. A meat combo from here filled me in two slices and was extremely greasy, the overall food quality was good but not exactly friendly to the rest of you. The staff is friendly but clearly trying to get a lot of orders out at once so don’t expect personalized and upbeat service, but you do get efficient service. Though many reviews on here do heavily criticize their delivery and I have to say that poor delivery is the norm, some worse than others obviously. The cost is pretty fair but shopping around their deals for pasta and pizza can end up getting you a very affordable and tasty dinner.

Where do I even begin? My family And I ordered a pizza, onions rings and a wrap. We asked for delivery. Normally if places are backed up they make you aware. Nope. We waited over an hour and a half. We called numerous times just to be given the runaround, sarcastic remarks with no direct answer. We looked on the GPS and it was only 8 mins from our location. We got into our car and drove to pick up the food we ordered almost 2 hours ago. We walked in and weren’t even greeted by 3 young«women» who knew exactly who we were, laughed in our face. We asked to speak to the manager which one of the little girls said they were. No managerial etiquette at all. If I could rate 0 stars I would. If you want to wait 2 hours, with kids, and mediocre food, go for it. Never ever again. This place is run by idiots.

Do not go here. Ordered something to be delivered, they sent the wrong thing, they argued on the phone and blamed it on us. Who runs a business like this. Will not ever order from here again.

Between $ 600-$ 800. That’s what my friend who owns a beach house near Mike’s spends a summer ordering food each summer from Mike’s. Until the idiot who works their told my friends wife she had to move her car to the other side of the empty parking lot shared with a paint store. Bad food. Bad hygiene. Bad judgment. The only good think about the fact these people work at Mikes is that they are not living off of our tax dollars on welfare. Nobody else would hire them.

Awful ! Eggplant sub was greasy, not much cheese. Was told no public restroom, seriously they could have let me use their bathroom. Glad I left no tip. Won’t be back here. Need Tums now !

Oh man where do I start with this place? I’ve been a recent customer(past 3 months), and to sum up mikes place, their all about quantity and speed not quality. They’re fast, have a menu which is wayyyyyyy too big and staff that are far too busy. Whoever owns this place thinks that expanding their menu would solve all their problems. Wrong. Mikes needs to focus on the basics before you expand the menu, pizza is decent, specials are good deals but making the menu 7 pages long is where this place falls short. The roast beef is good, and the girls behind the counter are sweet and efficient. The onion rings are horrible, clumps full of flour and not thick enough. Think beer batter. Chicken parm sub was chewy scraps of chicken, maybe consider thick piece of breast meat? House dressing is just appalling, a dressing should be one third vinegar and two thirds oil and some sugar, not just Sysco brand dressing with a couple of your own spices mixed in. Decent place but they need to dumb down the menu and focus on the simple things. Pasta calzone? 100 different wraps? How about just offer your subs as a wrap instead of installing SEVEN tv screens to display a bunch of dishes people never get? Who runs this place? I think they should hand ownership to the girls at the register who tell you what’s good and what to stay away from. Destinos for this family…

Really bad service lately. I live literally less than a minute away and for some reason it has taken over an hour for our food to be delivered lately. Our food has been cold and the last time(last week), I tried calling to check on the order(that took an hour and 17 minutes to deliver) and they wouldn’t answer because it was past closing. Well… If they still have deliveries out they should answer the phone… For issues like this. Called the next day, asked to talk to the manager and someone answered… I explained myself and then after he says«well the manager isn’t here so there’s nothing I can do». I used to love this place. Used to take 20 minutes less than the expected time. Lately though, the service has been extremely disappointing. Won’t be going her for a while.

Horrible experience. Just moved to the area last month, Mike’s on a neighbors recommendation… Worst mistake, won’t ever go back. First off, ordered delivery, told me 40 minutes… OK. Then they’re late, they get there in 45. OK, no big deal, food was cold. Called to complain, they tell me they can have new food out in 2 hours… 2 hours??? Seriously? Returned food myself for refund, staff was rude and ignorant.

Sauce on the pizza is too sweet, even for me. Sweet and spicy wings are good.

Ordered delivery while at work. Roast beef dinner with shoe string fries. Took an hour for it to get to me and the fries were well past soggy and cold. The roast beefs bread was falling apart. Atleast they remembered my coca-cola. Terrible!!!

This place is great, always have been! Their food is always good, very flavorful. I love their calzones, buffalo, shoe fries and steak kabob salad! I have been eating here for years, they tons of food options with so many different combinations, you cant really go wrong. There are no real cons to this restaurants other then the people who take your order, are not always the nicest people, since they deal with so many people daily, because of their popularity!

Mike’s Place isn’t bad but isn’t great either. I mean it’s sad because they have really good food and huge portion sizes but there’s a few things keeping it from being great. I’m giving them 3 stars because the food is mostly awesome and that’s the most important thing and there isn’t too many really good places to eat here in Gloucester. Lately I’ve been ordering the Steak Tip dinner. It’s a bit pricey but they give you a very generous portion of steak tips and fries. The dinner also comes with a side salad and pita bread. My wife and I can usually share a steak tip dinner if we aren’t too hungry so if it’s just you and your girlfriend I recommend sharing unless you want some leftovers for the next day. Their pizza isn’t bad. I’m very picky when it comes to pizza though so I wouldn’t say it’s that good either. You get what you pay for. Unlike other menu items their pizza is pretty cheap. On Tuesdays you can buy a small pizza for $ 2.95 and it’s a decent sized pizza. They also have beat the clock on Mondays and other days the price is still very reasonable. There’s nothing wrong with the pizza, I just think it’s mediocre. Pretty much everything I’ve had at Mike’s has been good aside from the Chicken Parm but what do you expect getting Chicken Parm from a place like Mike’s? The prices at Mike’s are pretty steep and that’s a drawback like I said the portions are very generous so that makes up for it if you’re really hungry or want to share a meal. One thing that turned me off was I was going to purchase a small can of soda with my pizza and they told me it was like $ 1.85. I can buy a 2-liter bottle of soda for that price! The customer service isn’t so great. For one thing when you call in half the time I can’t even understand the guy on the other end of the phone. Also, the employees at the front counter aren’t too friendly. I’ve walked in and 4 or 5 employees are just standing up front staring at me but nobody offered to help me. The employees aren’t exactly rude but don’t expect anything more than a courtesy grunt, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone smile there. There also isn’t a lot of room to stand while waiting for your order. It’s kind of an awkward setup. There are some tables to dine in but I almost always order my food to go. Overall you can do a lot worse than Mike’s. You’ll probably be pretty satisfied with your meal. It’s typical diner type food. Probably one of the better places to order take-out in Gloucester.

I was in the mood for a cheese burger last night but I didn’t feel like traveling over the bridge and out of town. It was cold and I am lazy. I spotted Mike’s Place and knew they would have what I was looking for! They have reasonably priced dinner plates with a lot of variety; you can get a hamburger, pasta, even haddock. I got the cheese burger plate and it came with rice pilaf(nice option instead of fries) and a salad. I took it home and was shocked at how huge the portions were! Wow! You get a ton of food for the price. The cheese burger was delicious. The rice was okay, and the salad was impressive, along with their special salad dressing. Yum. I’d definitely go back again and try another of their dinners.
