Philanthropy Tea & Coffee

The atmosphere was nice, but the food wasn’t great. My crêpe was a pile of slimy spinach greens wrapped in an undercooked crêpe, and it had no evidence of the cheddar cheese that was supposed to be inside. My companion’s crêpe was a lot bigger and slightly better, but still nothing special. At these prices I would hope for more.

Gorgeous inside. Portions are kinda small I got a tiny salad once. The tea is great, the wine is great. I don’t like that it closes early it would be a great place to turn into a night life location at night, it could be family oriented in the day and turn into a wine bar at night, then it’d probably be less dead.

I stopped in for breakfast with my step son, he had never had crepes before and was very excited. I ordered mine with ham egg and cheese, it was so yummy. He ordered cinnamon and sugar and loved it. We had home fries which were good as well. My sister ended up meeting us because they were having an open market with different artists (I’m pretty sure it’s a regular thing on Saturdays) we ended up all sharing a s’mores crêpe – which was very decadent. It was a good item to share!
They have a great selection of teas however I am a big coffee drinker. The iced latte hit the spot.
I also think it’s really cool that the owner shares her profits with organizations that help fight human trafficking. I can’t wait until I can ride my bike there in the summer!
Another cool thing is they are located in the same building as the purple cat which has tastings and yummy wines. :-)

When I wrote my review of the Purple Cat Winery & Vineyard, I included the Philanthropy Tea & Coffee shop into it not realizing that it was its own entity. We have come here numerous times and have had a wonderful experience each time. The staff is always friendly and the food is great. I have a tried a couple of their different crepes and they have all been awesome! I would recommend trying any of them.
It is a great place to go and relax, read, or get some work done. It is a quiet space with a healthy mixture of tables and chairs or big comfortable couches and they will never rush you. My wife and I went here to write our thank you cards for our wedding. Best of all, a portion of every sale goes towards causes that help fight human trafficking. If you are looking for a nice place to spend a few hours, Philanthropy Tea & Coffee is well worth the drive!

Love this place! The staff is wicked awesome. The food is amazing. And the atmosphere is so relaxing. One of my favorite places to chill amd relax.

Great food! I’ve had a few different crepes each time I go in to the Purple Cat as well. To be honest, when I first heard of this place, I wasn’t sure how it would do. But it’s great food.
My only criticism would be that they implement a charcuterie type plate and some snack-​type items if you just want something to munch on while having a glass or two of wine. We went in once while the owner wasn’t there, and the girls working did put together a bread and cheese plate. She’d just made the bread – it was undercooked, but had flavor. It was a great attempt. As a cook/​baker myself, I try not to be picky, but I can appreciate a younger person working to hone their craft. They were quick to try to put a plate together for us, so extra points for that.
Try it! You’ll like it, I promise!

You cannot go wrong with this place! Tea? Amazing. Lunch was delicious. Staff are friendly and the ambiance of the whole place is so awesome. Not to mention their sales partially go to a human trafficking prevention organization. Don’t miss out!

What a great find in Chepachet Village. Comfortable and cozy with a fresh menu selection. I was in this afternoon and the dinner special for tonight was Pot Roast… YUM! Selfishly I would like to keep this place a secret but it is a must share!

I always love going to Philanthropy. It’s such a cute café with a great design aesthetic. I am also always pleased with the food they come out with and their coffee and teas are to die for.
I order the chicken avocado tomato and chipotle mayo panini, which was different for me because I always order their crepes. There was only one guy working in the kitchen, which was fine for the few people who were in the store to begin with. Then a party of people came in and they all went to order. I’m sure he could take it on but it was a little sad to see only one person working and making all these sandwiches with no help at all. He even ended up running out of panini bread and has to switch to crepes or wraps for some of the orders.
My panini overall was delicious. Chicken was flavorful and avocado and tomatoes were extremely fresh. The panini bread was perfect as well. As for the chipotle mayo, it was a little bland and not too much of it as well. I don’t know if it just soaked into the panini bread and that’s why it was hard to taste, but I ordered a side cup of it to dip and put on my panini.
Their homemade chips are delicious! Perfect consistency and salted to perfection. I always make sure to order then when I go there.
Being only 20, I’ve never got to enjoy their wine tasting on the other half of the store, but I’ve heard and read many great reviews about their wines and staff their.
Although they were understaffed and there was not much chipotle mayo on the panini, I will most definitely visit again as their food is delicious and the atmosphere is incredibly relaxing.

Finally an adorable place in Chepachet to sit and read a book with an amazing cappuccino. Came here for the first time today for coffee and a crêpe with my Mom and my expectations were blown right out the door. Can’t wait to go back!
The ambience is lovely with calming music, twinkling lights, and nice rustic decorations on the wall. Whether you’re looking for a table to eat at or a couch to cozy up in, you’re in luck as they have a bunch of different seating options. They serve actual espresso, the cappuccino was great, and you definitely can’t go wrong with the banana Nutella crêpe.
I’ve been waiting for a place like this to open for years and I’m so glad it’s finally here!

We relied on Unilocal for lunch in Chepachet. Philanthropy Tea and Coffee came up number one so we tried it. My wife had sweet potato ginger soup and a half sandwich. I had the chicken pesto panini. We were not disappointed. Great service. Great food. New tastes. I would definitely go again when in town.

Give me a strong dark roast coffee and a place to sit with my dog and I’ll eat dirt if that’s on offer. This place has so much more to offer!
I had the veggie quiche. I liked it. The crust was not flaky and I bet some people might have something to complain about it, but I thought it was good. Their menu is massive and I was too tired after a morning’s hike to look through it all. But there was a ton of options for vegetarians and meat-​eaters alike. The coffee was delicious, strong and dark.
Mostly I wanted to review this place to say that they DO have places to sit outside. That’s important to me since I have my dog with me almost all the time. I will definitely be back!

I have yet to try the food here but the fresh brewed loose leaf tea is delicious! My boyfriend really likes the coffee here as well. I wish we lived closer as I’m sure we would be frequent customers. Anytime we are in the area, we will for sure be stopping in for a drink.

I stop by there to get some breakfast I had some delicious crapes and some nice coffee very hard to find spot but if you can get back there it is definitely worth a stop in if you like crapes

It actually saddens me to give this place only two stars because I was so excited when I heard the Creperie was open. I give it two stars based on the atmosphere of the place which is actually quite charming. The crepes on the other hand were very disappointing. We had ordered two breakfast crepes a dessert crêpe a coffee and a hot chocolate. I have to say I found this to be over priced because it totaled over $ 30. I wouldn’t have minded the cost had the crepes been good. Our breakfast crepes were small and tough. The strawberry cheesecake crêpe we received had 7 sliced strawberry pieces and a small dribbling of some cream that did not taste like cheese cake. My iced coffee was the worst part, it had that lovely refrigerator taste to it. They do have other selections besides crepes but at this time I’m not impressed enough to go back and try anything else. I’ll take the long trip to Providence for my crepes.

Really liked this place! Has a great potential. Huge assortment of teas and crepes. Also a coffee area. Looking forward to seeing the theater open up. They have mic nights and paint nights which sound fun. Great space to just get some coffee and relax.

Philanthropy is what Glocester has been missing; a New England-​type cozy hangout spot. The service is friendly and knowledgable and the atmosphere is familiar, with witty artistic touches. With extensive tea and crêpe menus, and healthy light fare, this café has something for everyone. Hardwoods and lofty exposed beams give a rustic feel, and the crafty tables and lower level couch room inspire you to linger a bit longer. The honor system library is a great touch, and my kids were pleased at the games and coloring selection. Truth is, they really enjoyed the creamy hot chocolate and delicious cinnamon buns. (They both swore they could finish one each, but alas, the gooey center was left for Mom! Mwahahaha!) I had ordered a cappucino and a lemon/​blueberry crêpe and it was perfect. I left feeling full and happy.
Adjoining the café is Purple Cat winery and vineyard, and a playhouse theater which I have not yet experienced. This combination will make for a great date night. I am so glad a business partnership like this has come to rest in Glocester. It personifies what people love about New England.
And the best part? A portion of all sales are donated to stop human trafficking. A truly philanthropic establishment.

Lots of tea selections and the crepes are good. The building is cool, multiple floors with seating, the environment is relaxing.

Stopped in for lunch. Great place. Comfortable seating. Great food! Decided to have the soup and half sandwich combo. Soup was delicious and sandwich was freshly made! Will definitely come back.

Beautiful building with lots of cozy and welcoming space. The homemade soups are filling, delicious, and taste fresh. I have yet to try a crêpe, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every sandwich I’ve tried. The English cucumber with chive cream cheese on foccacia went great with homemade tomato soup and was perfect on a winter day. I also tried a soda made from brewed lavender vanilla bergamot tea. It could only be described as lovely. The tea selection is vast and tempting. The Purple Cat Winery shares The same space, so you can choose a sandwich or snack from Philanthropy and pair with a glass of wine. Last but absolutely not least, the business donates a portion of it’s proceeds to an anti– human trafficking effort. This business is a terrific addition to the cozy village of Chepachet. I’m so glad it’s here!
