Over the holidays my family and I took the Copper Spike. It was a very fun experience. I was able Globe, AZ and the mines from a new perspective, which is saying something since I have spent 18 years(and numerous holidays after I moved away) there. The staff are fantastic, the food is good, it is reasonably priced, and it is a worthwhile experience. I would recommend it to everyone looking from something fun to do in Globe.

Took my 4-year-old son and accidentally booked a seat on the dome car, which is a little more expensive. What a fortunate mistake. The trip was extremely pleasant. The view was great from the dome car. The food was good and very affordable. My son loved his grilled cheese, and my chicken sandwich was first rate. This was a fun and reasonably priced outing. I recommend it highly.

This season the Copper Spike is offering food service — both lunch and dinner– and bringing back the days of yore when train service was synonymous with 1st class meal service. A full lunch menu includes choices like Salmon, Glazed Chicken Breast, Hot sandwiches, Cobb Salad, Desserts and a nice selection of wine/beer/cocktails. Dinners are Four-Course(They don’t start until Jan). I’ve had the Salmon and the Philly. The Salmon was nicely done; flaky, lightly grilled with fresh vegetable, but it was the Philly Cheese steak which awed me. Honestly, it was the best Cheese Steak I’ve ever had. made with fresh homemade bread brought in daily, the steak and cheese were perfect and it wasn’t overly ‘sloppy’ as some can be. Great flavor, texture… and just-right proportion. Service is excellent. Everything served on white linen table cloths, fresh flowers, wait staff in white jackets and bow ties… and great views from the DOMECAR.
