Spa of the Rockies

Spa of the Rockies gave us all around 5 star treatment! We also got the athletic club and pool packages with our spa treatment and it made for a wonderful day. The first timer spa package is an excellent value and a great way to sample all of their services.
We are very eager to return and have another wonderful and relaxing day!

First time coming and glad I did! The staff, ambiance and amenities were all amazing. Had a 90 minute deep tissue massage by Ashlyn– hands down the best I’ve had. If you’re wanting a spa day in the Roaring Fork Valley, pay the extra penny because this is your place.

From the start it was a good experience. Nicole billed the ultimate zen treatment for me right away, same day. Even though I know she had to work to put a schedule together, she made it seem like no issue. Same when I asked to add am eyebrow wax later. Everyone was friendly. Joe was my massage therapist and he was very friendly and got the pressure just perfect. The 2 hours passed in a flash. Kailynn did my wax and she was very friendly and thorough. I even bought some of the products because they are so hydrating and smell delightful. I am now sitting by the springs, relaxing and enjoying the after effects of a very nice day at the spa.

An excellent experience! The staff were very attentive to our needs, bringing us water and tea and making sure we were well taken care of. The massages were so thorough and after care was sufficient.
I would like to see cloth wash towels near the men’s shaving sink; it would make it that much more special!
We will be coming back!

As other reviewers either on Unilocal or TripAdvisor have mentioned, the facilities are nice but the water is the showers were ICE COLD. I waited at least 5 minutes waiting for the water to heat up but it never did. I told the front desk as I was leaving, so they could maybe resolve the issue for the next guests, the lady (maybe a manager? can’t recall her name) tried to argue with me and tell me that she went to check and the water came out hot for her. She said, «we can go back right now and I’ll show you.» I politely told her no because I didn’t want to go through the trauma of a cold shower again and we had reservations at a restaurant. She said then that I could go to the Athletic club and shower there because they had hot water there. I told her it was fine. I really don’t want to go a spa and then run around looking for hot water.
As for the ginger renewal spa treatment, it was fine. The scent was just heavenly, in fact, I bought the ginger aromatherapy oil on my way out. I even purchased the Turkish salt scrub that was used for the body scrub and the foot treatment. The technician’s name was Amanda, really friendly lady and I liked her. However, I think I might have appreciated a little more quiet. She’s fun to talk to but I usually just tend to prefer a little more quiet during spa treatments. Also, the heating bed never really heated up to keep me warm so it really took away from any relaxation that could have been gotten from a spa treatment because the air in the room was cool to down right chilling when the skin was in contact with the air or water during the treatment. Also, there was the part where she had me sit up to do my back, instead of having me turnover. This was very weird to me, not terrible, but certainly not relaxing.
The only time I was warm was when I was wrapped up in towels at some point during the treatment and this is bad. The whole spa treatment should be relaxing and comfortable.
Overall, this was one of the not-​so-​good spa experiences for me. The water in the shower needs to be hot and the treatment room should be warmer and the heating treatment bed should actually heat up. FYI, I walk around in capri shorts or short and just a long sleeve shirt with maybe a light jacket on in ~55 degree weather if the sun is out. I’m no wimp when it comes to temperatures. Spa treatments should be warm and relaxing. This was not that experience.
I did, however, like their products. As I stated earlier, I bought the two things I mentioned before and bath bombs from the Zents line. Then again, I’ve never really come across too many spa products that just totally sucked.
Standard spa that is in need of some improvements to make it acceptable.

Exceeded my expectations, everything I hoped for. I felt like a pampered princess. Allison, Ashley, Yvonne and Brooke should all be given a gold star, employees of the month and more.

Had an amazing experience!!! Took my husband here for our 25^th anniversary and had the hot stone massage. We have never felt more relaxed. The facilities were clean and relaxing and we were treated extremely well by all of the staff. Tiffany and Lindsey were wonderful.

I had an ultra cleansing facial. It was first of many because it was amazing!!! It really was so relaxing. The massage was great, my skin feels absolutely amazing and so refreshed and open and soft and moisturized. I look brighter and my skin is more even. It was definitely worth every penny ($ 115).
He got the 50 minute classic Swedish massage. He loved it. He said it was easily worth the $ 100.
The service was wonderful. The ladies upfront were so friendly and welcoming. They really made us excited for our spa visit. Huge kudos to them they really were so professional and not pushy at all. She even gave me free samples of the all organic products used during the facial, plus one for feet.
The serenity room was, alright. But I wasn’t waiting long so I don’t care too much really. There were snacks, punch, tea, and water for guests. The women’s locker room was very nice, the robes were comfortable and the steam room was awesome of course and much appreciated!
Too bad the spa is somewhat connected to the Glenwood hot springs pool because it really has so much potential to be it’s own very classy spa/​resort.
I would recommend this spa for sure.

I have visited this spa 3 times hoping I would have a better experience then the last. Each time the massages were ok but not amazing. The women’s steam room is not hot by any means. And all 3 times the showers were cold. For the price, you think you could at least get hot shower. I will never go there again.

If you have the chance to visit Glenwood Springs — you must visit the hot springs and enjoy the services at the Spa of the Rockies. I enjoyed several treatments and they were all excellent. The Spa is extremely clean and enjoying the hot springs either before or after your treatment makes for a perfect day. Sitting in the hot springs takes every bit of tension and muscle pain away you may be experiencing. Enjoying the spa and using their facilities makes it a very enjoyable experience. It is not fun to go to the hot springs through the bath house — I do not recommend it.

If I were reviewing the facility, décor, & surroundings this would be 5 stars. But the massage itself was anything but that. I had been looking forward to this since we scheduled girls weekend and since I developed a knot in my neck 10 days prior to my visit. Needless to say, the knot remains. Instead of a massage, I got what I’d like to call a rub. Oil rubbed on, and stroked through my hair (not an add-​on that I had requested) and ears (weird). Guess I’ll have to schedule a session at home for a trained technician to work out my kinks. Oh well!

Fantastic! I really enjoyed the mineral bath and had a great hot stone massage from Ashley. My pedicure was very relaxing, too, and it all made for a wonderful morning at the spa.
The facilities are lovely, and I love that the tranquility room, where you wait between appointments, looks out on the hot springs. Watching the rising steam was very soothing.
They also provide bathrobes, shower shoes, and everything else you might want, including lots of tea and cucumber-​flavored water.

Firstly, the facilities are gorgeous and the staff was all very polite. That said, I was very disappointed with my treatments at this spa. My husband and I spent $ 500, $ 600 with tips, combined on multiple treatments. We started out with the foot ritual before our massages, which could have been very cool. It was for my husband. For me, the therapist had no interest in really rubbing and getting into my feet and calves so it was a throw away waste of time.
My husband was also very happy with his Kneipp massage and I am left jealous. When you pay a premium for a 90 minute deep tissue massage, which I did, you need to get a deep tissue massage. I am a trained massage therapist since 2002 and this was, by far, the worst deep tissue I have ever received. It was a Swedish massage, with a little extra pressure when she happened to think of it, which wasn’t often. I told her of specific areas to work on due my chronic migraines and the fact that we had hiked to the hanging lake the day before and it didn’t matter at all. She went through her «routine» and that was that. Foot massage was ignored entirely, as was face. If you are going to ignore both what I paid you for and what I asked you for, then you should at least give me a FULL Swedish. She was a very sweet girl but there is no way that I would ever return to this place for $ 180 of frustration.
My husband followed his massage with a sport pedicure. He told the pedicurist that he had a spa pedicure the month before and she took this as license to work on him very quickly and superficially and his 45 minute pedi was under 30 minutes. LAME.
My 90 minute aromatherapy facial was late. As in, it was 15 minutes after time when the receptionist (Who was very nice.) told me that the aesthetician was running late. We started over 30 minutes late and there was no apology from the aesthetician. I was supposed to get a second foot ritual. Was actually asked if I wanted two and told them yes. It was skipped. My facial was to have hand/​arm and foot massage included. The feet were entirely skipped… again. I asked for nothing with tea tree oil because it increases my migraines and the room literally started spinning 10 minutes into the treatment. Come to find out AT THE END that she was using new products and didn’t know the ingredients and that one mask did have tea tree in it. Suffice it to say, I drove from Glenwood Springs to Denver with a migraine the whole way. Will NEVER EVER return to this spa. We spent more on this than we did for accomodations and it was not even remotely worth it.

The spa itself at the springs is lovely. The building that it’s located in has some beautiful historic rooms that are clean and peaceful. As well as my masseuse being very attentive and kind. The reason I am giving them one stars is due to the staff at the front desk, whom both confused my spa treatments and appointments but then tried to pass the responsibility off on my sister for the mistake. When you check in they require that you fill out lengthy paperwork, I had two forms as I was getting a massage and fascial. The day was supposed to be a lovely afternoon with my mother and sister where each of us would get a massage and another treatment. My mother was only able to get two fascial appointments so my sister was supposed to get a pedicure. They got confused and gave my fascial appointment to my sister, who as soon as she saw that she was getting the wrong treatment asked someone to double check. The reason I am so upset about the mix up with the treatments is I spent ten minutes when I was checking in to put in detail on the forms how I’ve broken my ankle two and a half months ago. How on earth the person at the font desk could thing that of the three of us that were at the spa, the one with a still healing ankle would want a pedicure. And even after my sister asked them to check how many appointments we had for facials the women was unable to and made my sister believe that I could already be getting my facial. Upon hearing that my fascial appointment was taken by my sister they best they could do was offer me a bath to wait in, after I had to wait 30 minutes. If I wan’t a bath I would walk back across the street to my hotel. All the while making me believe that my sister had just jumped up and taken my appointment while I was in the bathroom. I was very disappointed with my experience at the Spa of the Rockies, I left livid that I had been lied to and made to think that my sister was being rude. When in fact it was just there staffs incompetence and inability to take responsibility. I live in Denver and always suggest going to Glenwood Springs when my family comes into town, and for my next trip I won’t be suggesting any treatments from the Spa of the Rockies.

After looking at their website, and booking a package that included a mineral bath, massage and pedicure, I was very much looking forward to my trip to Spa of the Rockies. All started out well. The locker room attendent was very helpful and friendly, and fixed my bath, putting care into the temperature, scents, etc. After my bath I waited in the «Serenity» room for my next service. A little odd to have a co-​ed room when everyone is wearing robes, but the snacks and beverages were refreshing.
My massage was average. The pedicure that followed was a disaster. I’ve never been spoken to or treated in such a belligerent and uncaring fashion by a professional. When someone is working on my body, I expect them to be able to take direction regarding areas that might be sensitive, and certainly not to verbally assault me if I tell them that something they are doing is hurting me. My pedicure was stopped mid-​way and I ended up with a sub-​par polish job after being told that I was impossible to work on because I Unilocaled in pain after being aggressively abraded with a metal grater on my heel. I have had many pedicures, but nothing like that. A half-​day at the Spa which was supposed to be relaxing ended up being extremely stressful and upsetting. The person at check-​out at least had the sense not to charge me as by the time I got there I was shaking and on the verge of tears. I asked for a follow-​up call from the manager, who was not on duty when I left, but did not receive one.

In case you need even more relaxation at the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, stop in to the Spa of the Rockies for a massage, facial or mani/​pedi. The spa has quite an extensive menu of services and features several specials and package deals throughout the year.
The facilities are very clean and nice. There is a serenity room that overlooks the pool where you can kick back and sip on hot tea or lemon water while you wait for your treatment. The women’s locker rooms are fully equipped with roomy showers and all manner of beauty products, a steam room, and private rooms for the mineral baths. The décor is contemporary and serene. I love the fact that the spa uses Zents products, which is a local Denver company. The scents are light and not at all perfumey.
Mr. P. and I have received a couple of different couple’s massages here. The first ones were the classic Swedish massage, which was part of a package with a mineral bath. If you are going to have a mineral bath, I recommend that you either do it first thing in the morning or take a long break from the pools beforehand. After spending most of the day in the pools, I was a bit waterlogged after the mineral bath. However, it was certainly relaxing and a great way to prepare your muscles for a massage. Both of us agreed that the masseurs didn’t seem very skilled but the massages were nice and relaxing.
Our next set of massages were with hot stones. Again, I was completely and totally relaxed, which is exactly what I wanted out of that massage. Mr. P. was looking for more pressure and concentration on the areas he not only specified on the check-​in paperwork but discussed with the masseuse prior to laying on the table. Neither of these masseuses asked us if we were comfortable with the amount of pressure being used (of course we would have said something if we weren’t but I’m normally asked). Again, I think this is just a lack of experience and/​or adequate training.
For the prices charged for these massages, one should expect better trained professionals. So, from our experiences, if you’re looking for relaxation only, this is a great place to get it. If you need someone to spend some time working out your knots and kinks, you may need to look elsewhere. To save yourself a few bucks, pre-​book your treatments at least 48 hours in advance.

I will never go there again. I booked a 1 year anniversary package for my husband and myself this last weekend, along, with the lodge hotel. The facility is beautiful. The locker room was nice. The massage was terrible. It felt like they were just rubbing lotion all over my body. At one point while rubbing my back, it felt irritated from the lotion. My massage therapist kept stopping and getting up. My husband said his massage was just as terrible. No one walked us out or gave us direction as to what to do after we were done. My husband and I will never go back again. We love massages but this was pricey and not worth it.

Had a great experience. I wanted to surprise my husband by taking him to a spa for the 1^st time. So I was looking everywhere, and finally found the special offered by the hotel. One night get away!!! Loved it! I was actually worried when we 1^st got there that the spring pool is right next to the spa… the noise, people. I was completely wrong! It was great!!! Really relaxing just what I wanted, if not even more. Super fancy, luxurious place. We loved the baths before the massages! Especially the treatment by the employees! Made us feel like King and Queen! Funny but true! Will defiantly go back!!!

The spa facility was very nice and clean.
We were VERY impressed with the womens locker room attendant, she was the most helpful/​kind of everyone.
The man at the check in was below average. He mentioned to us 3 times how much he wanted to go home, how long his day was, and made us feel rushed. We drove 6 hours round trip for a nice spa birthday retreat and were not impressed by this.
One of the massage girls was excellent. The other girl mentioned how much she wanted to be done with her day as well.
I can understand this when you’ve had a long day, but it is not professional. Especially when people are paying a high rate for there experience.
The facility overall is nice, so I hope that the staff is talked to about this.

Great spa day except for one glitch when I got home from vacation and opened my product I purchased at the Spa of the Rockies. The packaging had been prviously opened and after speaking just now with the Spa, I’m suppose to send it back before they send me a new one, and I’m to pay for the shipping! Well, that just takes all the fun out of it now, doesn’t it? What was to be an enjoyable memory at a nice place has turned rather sour. Let the buyer beware and check that packaging if you’re going to purchase any product at the Spa of the Rockies.
