Classic Game Junkie

Well organized store with just about anything a gamer could want. I went around Christmas to get my fiancé a Nintendo 64 and some games. It took them time to locate a full Nintendo 64 in their stock room (presumably the basement) and it was unpackaged (just in a plastic bag), but worked perfectly and came with a 1 year limited warranty (fair enough for something so old). I went home and packaged it in an Xbox One box (which was the Christmas gift he knew he was getting– aka it had been set up since I bought it on Black Friday) with some bubble wrap and awaited his surprise on Christmas morning. Needless to say, he was surprised and thrilled. The system, controller, and games all worked perfectly.

One of best (and few of it’s kind) video games stores in the world. Their collection of classic games and system is literally second to none in the region… hell, I would say probably as good as I have seen.
They stock all the latest releases for all games. If you have a problem with your gaming system (or pretty much anything) they will fix it for you at a reasonable cost.
If you want to drop off old games for a trade and swing some deals, you can do that to with a great smile from a very friendly owner. People have to realize that this is a family store and on some occasions they get swamped with repairs, so the return time to the owner could vary depending on his much many items dropped off need to be fixed.
They even sell candy!
Heck, their kids are cute too!

Nice bars on the block too.
The store is well decorated.
They have many of the Retro games I’m looking for.
I’m specifically looking for a DS which they don’t have in collectors condition.
The Genesis collection is mostly carts and they have then cheap!
I will be going back often.

Classic Game Junkie is a gamer’s dream. My son and I visited after a visit to GameStop and were greatly impressed with the differences. The shop is a small blast from the past in Glenside where you’ll find anything from Atari to Playstation systems. The owner was friendly enough and extremely knowledgeable. We bought a cool game controller light switch cover and a Nintendo 3DS game. My son left happy and so did I. Metered parking is a pain but Classic Game Junkie is an awesome alternative to GameStop, which, at times, can be a complete ripoff.

Game Junkie is what GameStop dreams it is when it goes to sleep at night.
Awesome customer service, an amazing selection of games going all the way back to Atari and ColecoVision (GameStop doesn’t even sell PS2 anymore), and really reasonable prices.
You feel like a friend, like a real member of a video game community when you step through the door and a memorable 8-​Bit tune plays. (my favorite is the Mega Man boss themes)
Once I bought a game that I was having a lot of trouble finding — even online (Mega Man X collection for PS2) — and upon booting it up a week later, I realized it wasn’t working correctly. When I found some time to bring it back maybe 2 weeks later, they remembered me and cleaned the disk for free, even tested it out in the store to make sure it was working.
They even run tournaments and fix broken consoles. It’s pretty close to gaming nirvana.

Going in this place you will feel nostalgic, which helped clear out my wallet, but in a good way. The owners are awesome and friendly. I bought several items at a reasonable price. I will be going back to this store.
They have all sorts of systems from every era. They have imports. I was excited to see that they had all the SEGA systems, 3DO, Atari, and the newest systems as well.
I can’t wait to go back.

Frank Jr. and his wife (I didn’t get her name!) are both really cool people. Everyone else was very friendly, too. The prices are very reasonable and the selection is really good. To say that they have everything is an understatement. If you like classic video games, you really have to stop in for a look. I will be saving up for one of those little handheld arcade machines!

After calling about a SNES controller and being told they have them in stock but very few left I immediately take a train from Philly to Glenside only to get there and find out they in fact DO NOT HAVE SNES CONTROLLERS. Thanks a lot.

Hands down the best gaming store I’ve been in. The range of his selection on the retro games and systems is incredible (even carrying some gaming systems that I didn’t know existed). The selection of the current games is on par with most other stores as well.
I always see special events at the store posted with game tournaments or midnight openings, the store is great for the community as well. On top of that Frank is incredibly nice and friendly!
I make the trip up from the city every couple of months and will continue to do so!

I am an avid video game player and it’s very hard to find places that sell large collections of games for multiple platforms, especially older ones. This store is a hidden gem. Upon walking in, you will see systems ranging from Atari & Nintendo, all the way up to Playstation 3 and the Wii U. There are large amounts of games per system, all reasonably priced, and one of the best parts is you can find rare and popular games that are hard to find. Every visit, even if just a couple days later, you get to experience new additions to the already massive collection of games. The staff is friendly & courteous, and willing to help out, no matter what your needs are. In addition, you can trade in your games, put requests in to find games, they fix systems, as well as any other needs you may have. I highly recommend that you pay a visit to the store, and I guarantee you won’t be able to walk out without buying something.

Has an ok selection, probably won’t be going back because of the people working here. There are other places in the area to get what you want in terms of hard to get and vintage titles without dealing with drama.
This store would get five stars if it were just Frank working at all times.

I was ecstatic when this shop opened. As a former employee of the store which rhymes with «NameDrop,» I was stoked to see an independent game shop which sold vintage hardware and software where I wouldn’t have to deal with any corporate bee-​ess. After actually visiting Game Junkie, my enthusiasm was severely curbed.

The store does some things right. It is the only retail location I can think of where you can purchase vintage games without resorting to the Internet. The selection is fantastic, covering everything from Atari 2600, NES, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, and everything in between. Even obscurities such as Master System and Virtual Boy are available here. The store has an appealing display window and good interior decoration too, with cool video game art adorning the walls. They even have an awesome tabletop coin-​op machine with dozens of games playable (Burgertime? Hell yes!). But all these great aspects are overshadowed by poor customer service.

When you approach Game Junkie, you will likely see a man resembling the auctioneer from Storage Wars smoking in front of the entrance. Even as a smoker myself, this turns me off. Move a few feet away from the door man. Jeez. They also seem to be running a daycare center within the store. I assume these are the owner’s children, which is fine but they can be a bit rambunctious at times and it wouldn’t hurt to rein them in a bit.

My first time there, I was simply looking for a pre-​paid Playstation Network card. The guy told me, «they don’t make those, you can only get them on Xbox. PS3 is credit card only.» This statement revealed that he either didn’t know his stuff or was lying. My second visit, I bought a new Xbox game and a 1 year Xbox Live card, a $ 120 transaction. He said, «That’s it? That’s all you’re buying?» He didn’t use a humorous, folksy tone but sounded legitimately peeved that I wasn’t buying more. At this point I decided I was done with this place, but later I tagged along with a friend who was looking for a certain game. When he asked the clerk if she had it in stock, she said «No, we don’t. I have it at home and it’s a really awesome game, you wish you had it, but no.» Her tone wasn’t at all jokey, it was sarcastic and dismissive. So, long story made even longer, I took my business back to the corporate chain I used to work for. You still have to deal with up selling and reservation pitches there, but at least the staff are friendly and make me feel welcome.

One last thing to mention, their main business seems to be console repair. I always go through official channels if I need this done so I can’t comment on the quality of service in this area.

Best classic gaming store in the area. Frank runs a great shop, sells games for or under fair market value, and gives you a good deal on trade ins. Any video game system you can think of you, you can walk in, pay cash, and walk out with… Most complete with the box!
Great store, love to visit every few months to see what kind of rarities pop up.

For the dude that had the red ring here’s a thought– BE PATIENT! Frank will repair it MUCH faster and cheaper than if it goes to Texas where they get shipped to for that. And even after I sent it to Texas the repaired machine had the red ring within weeks.
