You can’t always count on someone else for review! Good or Bad! Life Happens & it’s not the same for everyone!
I read the previous review and was thinking why would I even call. So first I called another car rental place after reading that review. Long story short, at the other car rental (not naming names) after asking for a specific car she said they don’t carry that model & rudely said they were busy did I want to book a car or not. Of course NOT!
So, I called Hertz Rent-​A-​Car. (What did I have to loose at this point) it was New Years Eve, but I didn’t need the car till Saturday. The gentleman that answered was nice & I asked about a Prius. Thinking this would be great for our trip to SF & back! Let’s go «Green». He was so helpful, said he didn’t have on but if I could hold. he would see if he could get one for me! Guess what? He got me a Prius!!! YEA!!! With our AAA & discounts too! I was excited!
Car was ready when I got there, as scheduled, he went over everything about the car (I’d never driven a Hybrid before) and answered all my questions. When I got back he checked in my car & even gave me a ride back. Thank You :)
Please note this location is a one man operation, so yes he may not be there when you get there if he getting gas or having the car washed or even picking up a car you requested, picking someone else up or taking them home. So just confirm the time if your on a time frame. I’m sure he will make sure to be there for you :)
The post I read was from 2011. It may be that there is a different employee there too!
After I told my friend that I rented from Hertz in Glendora, she said «We always rent from them» Great Place! She just couldn’t understand why they only have one employee! Put yourself in those shoes…

Best Car Rental Experience Ever! Will Rent from Hertz Rent-​A-​Car Glendora Again!

Wow, does anyone have any luck at this location.
I scheduled a luxury SUV on Friday for pick up Monday. Since Glendora doesn’t have any luxury cars (their comment to me was: Who in Glendora drives a luxury car?) it was going to have to be brought in from LAX. Later that day I found out that I would not be taking my car in until Wednesday, so called Hertz and told them to cancel the car for Monday, that I’d need it Wednesday.
I called for over three hours on Tuesday to confirm my car would be there. Nobody ever answered and there was no answering machine. I must have called every 5 minutes.
On Wednesday when I arrived I was told my car wasn’t there, and they were not sure when it would be there. They wanted me to take a subcompact. Since I was going to have this car for 3 – 4 weeks while my Jaguar was fixed, I didn’t want to drive a subcompact. He finally said he had an Escalade, but it would be $ 44 a day more than the $ 50 the insurance company was paying. When I informed him that it should be the same cost as the other SUV I had ordered since it wasn’t here yet, he said «We don’t do things that way». He then said, «Since you didn’t pick up the car on Monday as you said you were going to, I sent it back». I informed him I had called him back on Friday to let him know it would now be Wednesday, and his reply was he had it come on Monday just in case I changed my mind. WHAT?!?
We then went out to the car. It was filthy dirty, like someone had been 4-​wheeling in it. You could barely see out the windshield. He offered to wash it, but since me and two little grand kids had already been there an hour, I told him I would just bring it back tomorrow and rent from somewhere else. He said no problem, but he needed to put gas in it.
There is no place to sit and relax at that location since it is an auto repair shop. Me and a 1 and 8 year old sat in the sun for over 40 minutes waiting while he went «to get gas». I figured he must have decided to get it washed since he was gone so long. 40 minutes later he comes back with the same filthy car (including the papers, water bottles, cigarette boxes, trash still in the inside of the car), and the filthy outside.
At that time he offered to give me the car at the cost of the car I was supposed to have, but I was so upset I refused.
When I got home 20 minutes later I received a call from a Hertz central location confirming my picking up a car TOMORROW in WEST COVINA. I informed him I had never ordered a car for West Covina, had never spoken to anyone in West Covina, and then proceeded to vent about what had happened and how inefficient I felt the rep there was. He told me he would have his manager call.
The next day I got a call from a very helpful executive. He apologized profusely and said Hertz would do what it took to keep me happy. He gave me the Escalade for the amount the insurance company was going to pay, and told me he’d bring me out a new Escalade that was clean and new.
He took very good care of me, and I was then satisfied with Hertz, though not the rep and the location in Glendora.
It is now time for me to return my car to Hertz in Glendora. I called all afternoon yesterday, have been calling them this morning since 9:00 AM. Nobody answers and there’s no answering machine nor is the number forwarded. So now I am going to have to keep the car until tomorrow, and am going to let them know that I won’t be paying for the extra day since I can’t get hold of them. And I leave on a business trip tomorrow, so if I can’t get it back before my flight leaves, they won’t get it till Monday, and I will refuse to pay from today to Monday.
I think they need to have some accountability at that location. And did they ever think a simple thing like an answering machine or to forward the calls would be excellent customer service?

Here’s my HORRIBLE experience with Hertz @ this location.
— pickup time was 8AM. hertz employee didn’t show up till 8:45AM
— inspected the car. car was dirty. bird crap, dead bugs… empty coke can and plastic bottles inside. hertz employee admitted that it was never cleaned and still tried to make me take it.
— hertz employee took the car to get cleaned. took 30 minutes.
— left hertz location at 9:30AM. 1 ½ HOURS LATER.
note: this is not an actual full-​time hertz location. It’s hidden inside an auto repair center and you have to go through the repair center lobby to get to the hertz DESK. It’s not an office but just a desk around the corner.
I reserved a full size car at 8AM because I had a full day planned and needed to get on the road ASAP. Showed up around 8:10am and was surprised to see nobody there. There was a notice saying to call a number if nobody was there. okay. so i called. someone picked up and said that he was a bit busy and asked if i would come to their west covina location instead as it was more convenient for him. (serious?) I said no, that this is where i scheduled to pick up my car at 8AM and nobody is here. He said he’d be there in 30 minutes.
he showed up at 8:45AM and wasn’t apologetic at all for being late. We asked for at least an upgrade for the inconvenience this caused and was told no, that all the cars at this lot was accounted for and we had the best one on the lot and that we would have to speak to his manager. Instead of him calling his manager and finding out what he could do for us, we ended up talking to the manager and got a discount for being 45 minutes late.
did the paperwork and he gave me the keys. I asked him, don’t we need to inspect the car? it was a good thing i asked… we walked out and i noticed the car was dirty. bird crap and dead bugs on the front bumper. looked inside and saw an empty coke can and plastic cups. i asked him if they even cleaned the car and he said no… how the HECK does a corporate company like HERTZ allow their employees to give customers a dirty car?
By now. I was suppose to already be at my first location and instead I was still at Hertz now with a dirty car. He offered to go get it washed… great but it should’ve been done before we got there. We had to speak with the manager again who tried to negotiate another discount which at this point he should’ve just given us the max discount possible for being late, and letting his employee give out a dirty car to us. He ended up giving us another discount off the rental.
Left the Hertz location at 9:30AM. 1 ½ hours later.
Returned the car a few days later. Instead of the same employee there, there was a new lady who processed my paperwork. I asked where the previous employee was and she said that he opted to stay at the West Covina location today…(i wonder why?)…She was happy to see me and she had some reservations coming up and there was no car on the lot. When I asked for the total, the amount wasn’t what we agreed on. I had her call her manager and find out what was going on. She grew visibly upset (threw some paper around) as i was explaining the situation to her but i told her to calm down and it wasn’t her fault (a customer telling an employee to calm down? bizarre). I just wanted what was agreed on. Finally we got what we were promised along with a gift card for future use which is suppose to be mailed to us.
Overall, this was probably one of the most horrible experiences I had renting a car. I would’ve gladly paid DOUBLE to avoid all these problem their lack of professionalism cost me. Their employees gave me a bunch of excuses why this and that was happening but as a customer, that’s not my problem and we should’ve been treated better and not been taken advantage of in the beginning.
They should close down this location as they don’t seem to have the necessary cars and manpower to operate this satellite operation. Hertz is doing themselves more damage to their corporate brand by letting such a location and employee behavior continue. I will never use this Hertz location again and most likely never use Hertz again. There are plenty of other car rental companies that would like my business again and treat us with more respect.
What is that saying? a satisfied customer tells three or four people while an angry customer passes the bad news on to ten people.
