Foothill Construction

Leaving a negative review is not fun for me but In fact it is long overdue. We thought we were going to have Foothill Construction do our addition and remodel this past summer. In fact they gave us their estimate and we made a payment to start working with them after they confirmed the pricing was accurate. Well then they took the time to do the real estimate (we had quotes from 2 other contractors and got real estimates as their first number) — their price increased by way more than it should. They refused to give us back our money. I guess they thought they earned it for the effort to prepare the more accurate estimate. They called it a Design fee. We already had a designer on the project so we weren’t looking for design work. They had met our designer a few times even. I do believe the quality of their work would have been good. But that doesn’t matter when you can’t trust the initial proposal.

This is a general contractor owned business. The general contractors name is Mark. Every time Mark would come out to the house to fix something, something else would break because of their «cheap» ways of doing business (instead of hiring a qualified professional, he would do things himself that he had no business doing such as gas/​water line repairs that ended up worse than when he started). He would trim the tree and cut the electricity from the house, another time he tried his hand at plumbing and we had no water for a few days. He broke windows and tried to get away with it by not telling anyone. When we moved into the house, Mark tried his hand at fixing the stove and ended up giving the stove a gas leak which made my husband and I sick and had to call the gas company because our carbon monoxide alarm went off, lucky it did because we did not know about the gas leak! the last straw was his last roofing job in which he threw the shingles carelessly around the property and they fell and tore into our motorcycle cover. Of course he did not come forward with the mistake until confronted about it. He did offer to pay it after much hair pulling and said the check is «in the mail» well… no check ever came and after asking him about it and notifying him that he should cancel the supposed check he sent, he was extremely rude and replied with «bite me…» and choice words that are not appropriate to repeat. Anyway, bottom line is this company is unprofessional and dangerous! beware!!!
