West Wind Glendale 9 Drive-In

This place is awesome! Cheaper than a theater, first run movies, sound through the car radio was excellent. And drive ins are just cool!

Its great to have a drive in to go to, and the memories I have from long ago took me back to this simpler time. I was worried about kids running around and the noise of others around us on cell phones, but we had none of those issues. The walk to the bathroom and concession stand was a bit much, but that’s ok for an experience to be outside on a beautiful evening. With 9 screens to pick from, its easy to find a single or double feature to watch. Price wasn’t bad either.

Went to the drive ins today and it was packed! When I came up to pay they said there was an event going on and the movies were FREE! It turns out this drive in has an event called customer appreciation 3 times a year! As I drove to the screen to watch my FREE movie I noticed they also had bouncers and music so once you found a nice spot to watch the movie you could get off and wait for your movie to start. Since the movie I wanted to watch was about to start I didn’t get off though

Yay! I love this drive in. Obviously when it’s the best weather, you should definitely take advantage. They have specials & free movie nights!

Went here for the first time this evening… it was definitely a great experience with a young child and a newborn. Everyone around us was very respectful and there was no riff raff. We didn’t think to bring chairs which we will next time. It reminded me of being at the drive in back home in MN or to the one I’ve been to in Las Vegas. It is awesome that you can bring your own food and drinks and also very convenient they have concessions right on site for anything you may have forgotten or they also have a nice big bucket of popcorn for 5 bucks! And free refills for the same day you are there… a great deal I think. The pricing for the movies is unreal to! 7.50 per adult and I think it was only one dollar for my kiddo. It can’t be beat for the back to back movies we watched. We will definitely be back here again. I think the time of regular movie theaters will be done for us as long as this place is around. Tuesday nights is also advertised for 5 dollars per adult. Nice little weekday treat when the kiddo isn’t swamped with homework! :)

I’d say this drive in movie theatre is one of the best things about Glendale! On a Tuesday, you can see any movie for only $ 5 a person. Talk about super cheap! Also, some movies show double screenings which means after the first movie, there is another movie playing right after on the same screen and you’re allowed to stay and watch that one as well. Pretty neat for a two for one special! :)
Bring your own lawn chairs and the whole family can sit outside and enjoy a nice movie outside, along with bringing your favorite snacks.

This is a very cool place! The tickets were very cheap and you’re not going to find many drive-​ins anywhere else. Although I loved it, it took my friend and I a very long time to find our screen. We drove around and drove past it a few times. Theres nothing indicating where to find it, especially when its pitch black outside. Perfect to visit on a warm day and just roll the windows down and chill. Definitely recommend.

We absolutely love this place. It’s 7.50 per person for a double feature and they always have a great selection of movies that you would find at any other traditional movie theatre.
There is a concession stand with food, but we prefer to pack our own and have a little picnic in the car.
We have only gone on weekdays and the lots are pretty much empty… maybe 3 or 4 other cars watching the same movie.
For unique and affordable entertainment… this place rocks.

Like the Doctor (Doctor Who) this drive in is the last (in Arizona) and it’s awesome. Great prices, new movies available, what more could you ask for?!

I have gone to this drive in since I was little and it brings me so many great memories. Tuesday’s are the cheap days and discounts off some snacks. The drive in is perfect for creating memories. You can bring in your own snacks and drinks. Don’t forget to bring your chairs and blankets. You won’t regret going to this Drive in.

This was an awesome experience! My only complaint that I wish you could access the sound via a cell phone rather than just the car stereo or having to bring a boombox. Maybe there is a way but we could not figure it out :]

LOVE the old school feel of this place. Reasonable ticket prices. Excellent (expensive) snack bar and options. Always have the new release movies. Parking lot and concessions are always clean. Couldn’t be happier :)

Last of a dying breed. What a cool place!
So I’ve stopped in for drive-​in date nights twice now and both times we had a lot of fun. The price of entry is cheap, the movie selection is good, and the atmosphere is safe and family-​friendly. I’ve never purchased snacks there, so I won’t comment on that. We’ve always brought our own.
In terms of paying, if you happen to arrive by yourself, you may be forced to wait while someone with a flashlight checks your car to see if you are hiding folks somewhere. That’s what happened to me the second time I was there. I think they are also looking for alcohol as well, so be aware of that.
For parking, I would say this is the only weakness of the drive-​in. Getting around in the dark with a couple of strange entry-​points to the right parking area can be a little weird. Some cars going one way, some coming from the other way, it is a little bit of a mess. So be careful when pulling up to the entry to your movie.
Other than that, my girl and I always park a little further back and open the back of her jeep so we can cuddle and chill. Anyone who is taller may not be able to see the film if you are parked too close and are using the back of an SUV to lay in. Just a little heads up on that, you may want to move to the back so you can see.
Overall, this is a fun place to go and it really is for the whole family or for a great (and inexpensive) date night. I definitely recommend!

West Wind is a great place to take the kids or kid. The price to get in for two shows is crazy and cheaper on Tuesday (Family Night) and the concession is good, everyone is friendly. Ive been to a lot of drive-​ins and love that I have a place to bring my daughter as the drive-​ins. Reception is good and I think being right in the city gives it a lot of character.

Much lower prices than the sit-​ins and not crowded at all. We love how there is a snack bar as well. As I fall asleep in normal movie theaters, we will come here quite often.

Pretty good prices at $ 14 for two people, the area seemed to be reasonably kept up, and the cashier was pretty friendly. No, you are not going to get the best picture quality but sometimes the nostalgia is worth it. FYI-​I would not watch something like Jurassic World here again, too many graphics that need to be seen up closer and in high quality. The best times to go is late at night, less people and if you are watching a horror movie I can only assume you might get creeped out. Did I just hear a metal hook scraping the side of the car?
We used to go to the Scottsdale 6 before they closed, now this is the only one of its kind. People are going to once now and again, turn their cars on to keep their batteries from dying. We opened up our sunroof and enjoyed a movie under the stars. It looked like it was going to rain so I could only hope the screens didn’t tear away like in that movie Twister. The bringing your own food is awesome because you don’t only have to rely on unhealthy junk food (although popcorn is a must!) from the snack bar. You could bring a whole spaghetti dinner if you wanted! Some people make a night out of it by bringing tv dinner tables and folding chairs. Nice way to get together with your family.

I’ve been coming to this drive-​in since I was little. Always loved it, and now I’m bringing my little ones. Still a great place. Lots of fun arcade games and the popcorn is amazing! I wish the soft drinks had refills, but very glad the tub of popcorn does!
However, when my hubby went to get a refill on our popcorn, we didn’t realize I had the receipt. Okay, they tell us to remember it so it’s understandable that he didn’t do it. But when he went again later with it, the man told him to get in the back of the line, even though he was carrying our 7 month old son in his car seat on one arm. Fortunately, one of the other employees was more understanding of the situation and helped him out sooner. We appreciate the wonderful customer service of the second employee, and were less impressed with the former.
Overall a great place, and will definitely be back. Also, my daughter loves going to the playground after the movie.

So this is my first ever drive in theater so I can’t compare it to other ones. I think it is pretty awesome. On Friday I went with a couple friends and $ 7 got us in to see Pitch Perfect and a kids movie that we did not stay for due to the flooding rain. You park your car in the the area that has your screen and you are told what radio station has your movie on it. You then turn to it and get to hear the movie through your sound system while watching it on the big screen. This is great because it blocks out all the noisy people but at the same time really stinks if it is pouring rain and the movie is through the windshield. You can also bring chairs and sit and watch it with your trunk open… some people were doing that before the rain started back up.

My wife and I have been coming to the Glendale Nine since the 80’s and now I take my six year old and he loves it just as much as me and mama.
We love to bring the truck, lay the air mattress out and cozy up in the blankets to watch our movies.
We usually stop at the nearby QT to buy our sodas and candies. We still hit up the concession stand though for popcorn, pretzels, churros and other snacks.
The Glendale Nine is a great family outing and for $ 7 adults and $ 1 for kids you get to watch two movies we usually see three though.
There are signs posted that says no drugs, no weapons and no alcohol.
However, rest assure patrons are bringing those items in. Its not uncommon to smell marijuana, see empty beer cans and hear gun shots from nearby Maryvale.
We are not bothered I grew up in Glendale so it’s nothing to me and we always feel safe and we have never seen any drunken people staggering around people truly go to relax and watch a movie outside in our great Arizona weather.
On one of the comments there was a response by management stating that they do security checks.
Really?
Occasionally, I will see staff driving around in a golf cart trying to sell glow sticks but they aren’t really checking on anyone per say.
They don’t do car checks so you basically can bring anything you want because they are not checking.
We love the Glendale Nine and know what to expect. If you are uppity and scared of this part of Glendale then you might as well go pay top dollar at an indoor theater but trust me when I say it gets no better than Glendale 9.
Management needs to work on staffing the admission booths during high season and or popular new release movie nights such as Fast & Furious.
It is ridiculous to have one person work one booth serving two vehicles at a time.
This turns in to up to a 30 minute wait to finally purchase tickets.
Management needs to come up with a better solution. We seen vehicles turn around and leave based on the long wait.
Advice to management when you have a popular movie such as Fast & Furious on opening night maybe have dedicated admission booths for that movie.
OR
Double staff the booths even if it’s just for a couple hours.
We didn’t do the snack bar tonight because it was so packed and we figured if they couldn’t handle all the customers trying to get in with at least a 30 minute wait then there was no way the line inside would be even the slightest more efficient.

During my last couple of hours on my random trip to Arizona, I had attended two Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Francisco Giants Game (Don’t ask me why I attended this non-​Dodger game), I was curious if Arizona had a drive-​in theatre. With the help of Unilocal,I found the WestWind Glendale 9 Drive-​In Theatre.
It was about 630pm when I used my Unilocal App to find the WestWind Glendale 9 Drive-​In Theatre. It was still bright outside, but the place was already open. I was one of the few people already entering in. I was greeted by one of the staff. Since I was the only person in the large vehicle, the lady didn’t bother to inspect my truck for any other people unlike other locations. Admission is $ 6.75 per person. The lady told me a lot of people drive across Arizona to come to visit this drive-​In theatre.
This location is near an industrial area and railroad tracks, but not close to the movie theatre. During the weekends at noon, WestWind also serves as a Swap Meet. I wish I was there to experience that like my younger days. I saw some pamphlets that there are some concerts at the WestWind. With a huge lot, I wonder if this location host an event like Coachella!
Since I’ve seen most of the movies already, I just wanted to experience the drive-​in theatre. I watched, «The World’s End» and «Two Guns» at Theatre 9. When I parked my truck, I parked it as I would park between the lanes while the other cars parked wherever. I think I may have blocked some views and spaces, but I was far away. Sorry! The quality of the sound and picture was OUTSTANDING! It was like I was at the movie theatre, but in my truck. With all the other people’s radio out loud, the sound was spectacular and echoed throughout the lot. I wish I had my Dodger lawn chair and sit in front of my truck.
While you wait for the 1^st or next movie, you can head to concession area and grab some popcorn, drinks or ice cream. I grabbed a King Cone Ice Cream ($ 6.95) since it was really hot and it definitely hit the spot. I miss going to the concession stands, but do be careful when you walk during the dark. You might step on trash and slip. There are plenty of trash can bins and still don’t understand why there are tons of trash.
I have visited a couple of California’s, Georgia’s, and now Arizona’s Drive-​In Theatre. I think this is one of my new list to do in my life. If I see a drive-​in theatre, then it is a must to do. I wish there were more these days. Just going to one of these drive-​in theatre is a lot of fun and much more enjoyable than a modern movie theatre.
