Love coming here. You never know what you might find! The guys who work here have always been very helpful.
I’ve bought light bulbs and light covers. They have many different kinds of signs that you can stick onto a metal gate. They sell paint, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, garden supplies, bathroom supplies and even doggie stuff!
They sell this enzyme for the toilet which I love! Works every time.
I will definitely continue to do my business here.

Ive been coming here for a long time now. It is the closest thing to a small town hardware store that we have in Los Angeles. I recently had a disaster with my ancient bathroom sink, and Ed who works there is very knowledgable, and had no problem walking me through the process. He spent 15 minutes at least while other people were waiting till he had finished helping me. It’s the place to go for sure if you have repair questions, and a big inventory… Thank goodness for Virgil’s!

If I can give this store a minus 10 I would in a heart beat! This store reminds me of the psycho movie people here are extremely rude 90% look like they came out of a horror movie if your ignorant and mentally disturbed you will get a management position at this Chernobyl establishment and if you complain they say don’t come back that’s how we are like it or not lol stay away from this zoo!!!

Great customer service by Randy and Gabby. Even though the store was closing, they took the time to help me get the correct product that I need. They never rushed and was very patient. This was my first time there to tonight. Even the cashier was nice! They have products that other stores don’t carry. This is now my new hardware store!

I have been in this community for over 20 yeas and I have shoped at Virgil, now I feel so disappointed in how the customer service has change, I witness horrible customer service to a senior man who was trying to buy his lotto and the two useless employees were so rude and unprofessional to the man. If your not going to follow the California lottery rules you should not sell lottto, don’t make up your own rules. Im bringing this up because it’s not the first time I see this happening in this store and if you have a problem selling to minorities put a sign on your front door and see what happens.

Worst customer service ever. I came in looking for a specific product. As such, I was looking at my phone, trying to find the specific item and hoping they had it on the shelf. Employee comes up and tells me the store is closed and I ask if I can buy something and they say I can but the store is closed & there waiting on me (basically: «hurry up»). I mentioned that maybe «they want to tell me that when I walk in at 6:55pm» (who closes a store at 7pm?!) and one of the employees rudely says «we would have but you were on your phone texting someone.» I WASN’T texting, I was looking up a product to make sure I was getting the right thing. I will absolutely never come back here or support this local business. Treat your customers with respect.

These guys are the best! We have been patronizing this store since 2011 when we first moved to Glendale. We now live in Glassell Park and still come here because of their great service. For example, we got keys made, the master key was bent in the duplication process, which we didn’t notice until we got home. Virgil accommodated us by giving a locksmith number who can come out to fix our lock, damaged from the bent key.
What did I tell you? The best!
They have a great selection, but hey, it’s the service that keeps us coming back! Proud to give them a great review!

Man virgils is the last of the old style hardware stores even though its bought out by osh a big name franchises. .but the people here are very nice ozzie is one of the old timers that was there with old man virgil he knows everything

This is the last remaining good ol’ fashioned American hardware store in town. The only store that doesn’t have employees who rode the short bus to school. The only store where you get good advice from knowledgeable people who know what they’re selling. Not only will they help you find what you’re looking for, but they will tell you what you need to do with it when you take it home.
Thank all of the guys/​gals at Virgil’s for the consistently excellent service.

I stopped by here to make some keys after Home Depot screwed up on them. I paid for keys that don’t work. I was in the area and stopped by to have my keys re-​made. The process was quick and the prices are comparable. Goodbye Home Depot.

I’ve been a customer for 15 years. My great hope is that Virgils will continue to thrive even though Home Depot has wiped out most locally owned hardware stores. Virgil’s prices are higher than Home Depot’s, and not every Virgils employee is an expert in their department. But if you need help, and with hardware I often do, you can get it at Virgils. There aren’t many places like that left. They also sell some housewares, high-​quality pet foods, fresh eggs and lottery tickets.

Greg was reeking of body odor and cigarettes, and was rude. He walked away in the middle of helping me and took my torch to ask his boss something, and never came back. When I finally found him making keys with my equipment tossed aside he said «well I have to make the keys.» I had to reach over the counter to get my torch back.
I wanted to support small businesses but Greg was very dismissive, rude, and stinky.

I go in often to buy lotto tickets or fruit trees amongst other home DIY things.
There are less than a handful of people there who know anything about customer service, but for the most part that idea is non-​existent. Most won’t even say hello or smile which is unfortunate being that they are in this small community and have lots of competitors around.
Just today I had the cashier check my lotto tickets and had one winning ticket but she mixed in my ticket with others and would not print a receipt saying she’s worked there for so many years and no one had ever asked her to… Really? Well I just did!

I miss Virgil’s. I miss the hardware, I miss the locksmith, but most of all, I miss the eggs for sale. Yep, you heard me right.
It’s been a year since I moved from Glendale. This was my «go to», my homestore, my everything. Literally, because you can get EVERYTHING.
You end up paying more for the convenience of it all, but you have people on the floors who are readily available, and are friendly. Countless times I wandered in the store, and finally would ask if they have a 123 that kinda fit ABC, but not so much XYZ. Each time, they knew exactly what I was talking about, and thus, looking for.
Sigh. I miss it.

Coming to Virgil’s is like stepping back in time. Remember when sales people were nice, friendly, kind and actually helped you find what you need? That still happens here. And it makes such a difference.
Last time I was here, I needed a little piece of hardware for my sink. 1/​8″ of an inch off and it would have been useless. (I don’t even know the name of whatever it was… that’s how unhandy I am!) The staff immediately guided me to the right aisle (plumbing?) and showed me the options. And it only cost, like, 98¢.
A visit to Virgil’s is a reminder that, once upon a time, Glendale was a smallish town where everyone knew your name. (Montrose still feels like that. Glendale, not so much.) So, when you’re in the mood for fantastic customer service, need some little thing for the house, or just want to wander the aisles and browse, this is a wonderful place.

Yes, somewhat expensive. BUT very convenient, great service, and stuff are always in stock. How do they do that?
I also like that they have a lot of kitchen related items; they have cute creamer and sugar dish sets, they have those nice long spoons for Chocola-​mou …
I also appreciate they return service, they do not give you a hard time returning an item.
This place still feels like that one hardware store you used to have in the entire village. Still holding on against all the moguls.
