Thomson Prometric Test Center

Due to many bad reviews about this place, I decided to take TOEFL test in Culver City. However, it is very far from my place, then for the GRE, I chose this test center to reduce commuting time.
In my opinion, this place is far better than the test center in Culver City. I took the test on Jan 15. The room was big and clean and staffs were friendly.
P. s. You have to pay $ 12 for one-​day parking.
P.p.s Both Glendale and Culver City Test Center should clean their keyboards.

This place is horrible. The management of this office should be fired. I would give zero stars if possible. The manner in which checkin is organized and the allocation of students to different rooms in completely non sensical. One room and attendant is doing nothing while there are 15 people on line for the other room. I’ve been to many pro metric centers around the country but this one is consistently overbooked understaffed and poorly managed.

Really good testing experience. Unlike some older reviews describes, checking in didn’t take long at all. The girl at the front desk of waiting room checks ID, pretty efficient. Then put belongings in the locker, went to the next room for finger prints, they let you roll up sleeves, make sure nothing in the pockets is here too. Monitor and mouse are good, my test didn’t use much keyboard. Parking is expensive though… $ 12 for a 4 hour parking.

I took the GRE here and had a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. Also, the center had good computers and comfy chairs which made me feel comfortable while taking the test.

I didn’t have a bad experience while at this testing facility, but I probably won’t be back. I selected this location for my first GRE since it was «closest» to where I lived, but only by a few miles.
First of all, parkinggggggg — $ 12 — — - expensive :(Especially since I’m there for a $ 200 dollar test … the last they could do is waive parking! Anyways, the testing prep is pretty intense … signing more papers, lockers and keys to put everything in, keeping your ID with you all the time, getting scanned in and out…
One of the facilitators was very blunt and intimidating while the other was very friendly. The facility itself wasn’t too hot or too cold, the chairs were comfortable and there was plenty of space in each cubicle. They offer headphones, but I didn’t feel the need to use them since I feel like I was able to zone things out.
When I went on the 15 minute break, however, trying to get back in to start my test made me super nervous. Because they scan/​sign everybody in, while trying to sign back in to return to my test in time, someone else was getting scanned in and I was asked to wait. However, there were problems signing the other person in, which delayed me getting back in… Luckily, the other facilitator saw me waiting and signed me back in with just 2 minutes to spare. The facilitators log you back in after break… so I’m wondering what would’ve happened had I not made it back in the 15 minutes? Anyways, it was a mini panic attack in an already stressful testing situation.
I’m probably going to one of the other locations (culver city next), since parking is free there. 12 dollars is just a bit much! :(

I took a court interpreting test at this location today and found the place to be comfortable and surprisingly pleasant. The staff was friendly and professional.

Staff are really unpleasant, bad personalities, like government workers that don’t bother trying to be cordial because their union won’t let them get fired ever. Need to rethink their intake procedure or increase number of people doing intake, I arrived at 7:50 for an 8 am start. I didn’t get seated until 8:25. If arriving to close to the suggested time is going to delay your ability to start the test, they aren’t mentioning that at all.

I came here to take a test for a professional license and I was disappointed at how they conducted the check in/​out process. I know prometric wants to make sure there isn’t any cheating going on but. if they should really know when to hire an extra person or two.
The environment was clean and all and the staff were professional but check-​in shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes a person. I had an appointment to sit for my exam at 7:30 am and I didn’t start until 8:00 a. m This was mainly because they had one person to do all of the following… provide 2 forms of ID, finger scan 3x for both left and right index fingers, emptying pockets, and then a frontal/​posterior metal detector scan. They did this EACH time we entered/​exited the test room (this included all bathroom breaks, scheduled breaks, and unscheduled breaks)
This is great and all. but there was only one person doing this so everything took FOREVER.
Just saying. I’m sure prometric has the capacity to plan ahead for days where there a large number of test takers and employ the necessary number of staff accordingly.
I’ve been to other prometric centers before and have not had this problem. Maybe it’s just this location?

This testing location is in a great area, accessible and set up nicely in regards to logistics. As mentioned in other reviews, the admin staff have such horrible people skills. They are extremely rude and must hate life. They asked me why I was taking this test and if it was helpful in my career. In the process she was yelling at me in a condescending tone «Why are you taking this test if it’s not going to help you in your job or get more pay?» when she didn’t like my response. I will need to take another test and will be driving to Ventura because of my very bad experience. It’s not worth the feeling of being treated like a 3 year old.

This place is terrible. after shelling out 200 dollars for a test that goes to a «non-​profit» educational organization it has me wondering how any of this makes sense
Pros:
–Test taking went without a hitch
–Lockers for your stuff
–Seats were enough to make my butt survive the 4+ hour ordeal
Cons:
— The staff were highly authoritative as though they had sticks up their asses
— They were rude and made me feel like I was under arrest or something close to that
— Had a paper with my school codes on it they didn’t let me bring in, when I was reporting scores I had to go out to recopy it onto my scratch paper only to have the lady tell me what that I didn’t need the codes I proceeded to spend twice as long looking schools up when I could’ve easily punched in the codes. and not wasted my time with looking schools up.
–They make you fill out this form in cursive. the one time you actually need cursive in your life.
–Parking is 12 bucks. and they dont validate. non-​profit my ass.
You can park on louise and walk a little bit if you wanna save 12 bucks by the way. there is street sweeping on wed and thurs 8 – 10 so if you sign up for a time after there should be plenty of parking.

I had a really bad experience at this testing center. The staff were very unfriendly and it made my test experience and waiting for my test results very stressful. Although this is the only testing center in the San Fernando Valley, I would be willing to drive 45 min-​1hr to a much a better one.

Taking a 4 – 5 hour long board exam is never pleasant but this location was pretty comfortable. It was clean, quiet, organized, there was water, it didn’t smell, bathrooms were clean. It is a decent sized place with lots of stations. The chairs were big and comfortable & they had big headphones for you.
I took my GRE at the site in Culver City and that was ok. I read bad reviews about the one in Gardena so I didn’t attempt that location. Of the 3, I think Glendale was the most pleasant.
They don’t validate for parking which ended up being $ 12 but I felt it was safe.

I took my exam here and expected to receive courteous services for the duration of my test. However, the proctor named Judy at site who checked me in was very rude and unprofessional, therefore ruining my whole test experience.
Talking to me in a loud authoritative voice, she went through instructions quickly. When I hesitated, due to my surprise with her blatantly rude attitude during the whole procedure, she said «Have you been here before? Don’t you know that this is the same thing we do everytime?»
When she asked me to show that my pockets are empty, she demanded, «That’s enough! Now do the back… now lift your shirt up so I can see if there aren’t any pockets inside.» Overall, I could not say that it was a pleasant experience firstly due to the lack of direction and secondly due to her authoritative assertion over me as if I’m in prison… as if I was under her. The way this was conducted made me feel like an alternative form of sexual harassment?
This experience has made me not want to ever go back to the Prometrics Center in Glendale ever again.

My daughter took the GRE at Prometric in Glendale. It was taking an unusually long time to get her scores, so she checked into it and was told they had lost them.
With the technology today, this is amateurish and inexcusable, made worse by the fact they never bothered to contact her to let her know what was going on.

Not horrible, but I think the Culver City location is better. They charge you for parking here which is kinda obnoxious. Also, you have to park in a big parking garage. which for me meant no last minute studying in my car. Too dark in most locations!
And, oh yeah… I got STUCK in the elevator here. Thank God, it was after my exam and not before, otherwise I would have completely flipped out. Still didn’t love going through one of my worst nightmares.
Basically, if you have to come here it will suffice (I passed!!), but the Culver City location is better. I would choose this location only if it’s a lot closer to you than CC.

Minus one star for no parking validation. I know it says they don’t validate on the email confirmation when I scheduled my test, but $ 12… :(Not really their fault I guess, but I’m still docking, lol.
I actually think the center is great. It’s roomy and right off the freeway, so it’s very convenient. I didn’t find the staff rude at all. I didn’t get any Asian lady that people mentioned in other reviews. The staff was very sweet. I didn’t smile when I took my picture, the lady joked around and said, «You’re not going to jail, haha.»
Anyway, the place was clean and the temperature was fine. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. I’m usually cold wherever I go. The lockers and restrooms are basically 10 seconds away. Nice :)
P.S.
If you scheduled to take the test outside of the building’s normal hours, you’ll have to call the Prometric center upstairs for them to open the door. Just something I noticed when I saw a sign taped to the lobby door when I was leaving.

I took my GRE here and thought that the whole process from registration to actual testing process was quite efficient. The staff was professional and well trained in setting up all the test takers.
I like how they send you a reminder email a couple days before with instructions and clear directions how to get to the center. The parking is $ 12 and they don’t validate, but why complain about that when you’re taking tests that are close to $ 200? That’s where people should be outraged who needs that on top of school application fees?! Poor student is poor. :(
The Test Center is serious business, they check you in and you get a small locker so you can leave all your belongings outside the test room. They remind you repeatedly that no cell phone are allowed, watches or calculators. Taking the test there is a calculator built into the program so no worries.
They wand you with a hand-​held metal detector and check that you aren’t hiding stuff up your pants and pockets. Then take a picture of you for their records, on the scratch paper they give you it states that you are being recorded. Wow, like people aren’t nervous enough about taking majors test that impact the path of your life.
The test area is large and I didn’t feel crowded, there were about four other people there in a room that could have held about 25. The computers were up-​to-​date and were all flat screen monitor, leaving lots of room for to wallowing and headdesk-​ing on tough questions. The cubicles included basic hearing protection ear muffs, it was very silent already so I didn’t use them. The typing and clicking from other students didn’t bother me, focus was 100%. ;p
The restroom is located down the hall so you have to borrow a bathroom key to access it first. You really want to go to the bathroom before since you’ll be stuck there for hours.

Test room was empty and quite… somewhat cold but I had my sweater on so that wasn’t a problem. This place is located in a well-​maintained building. I guess comparing to Pometric in Culver City, some people will prefer this location because it is newer and cleaner, though I felt the light was somewhat dim and the whole time taking my AUD I felt really drowsy (not sure if it’s something to do with the light). I personally found the staff in Culcer City more friendly. The staff here weren’t very friendly (no smiles and looked annoyed but well I was tired and they probably were the same) although when I walked out the test room the crew there were nicer than those in here earlier.
I won’t return for parking fee’s sake.

Now you can pay the parking using your credit card. If it is still cash only I would give it a one star review.

As far as testing facilities go, you really can’t say much. This one is pretty good. The staff is very nice and helpful, waiting room is large and has large windows for natural light. They were playing 94.7 The Wave on the radio.
Inside the testing rooms, the cubicles were well sized and the chair was decently comfortable. Other testers were respectful for keeping the testing area quiet, and if you don’t like the sound of people typing there were noise blocking headphones.
My only gripe about this location was the parking. It was difficult to find. I actually ended up parking in the Citibank building across the street. It was $ 12 for all-​day parking, which was fine since my exam was 6 hours long.

Super friendly staff! I like this a lot more than the one in Culver or Gardena. It is in a pretty good location. The people really make it as good of an experience as possible (which is still not very good considering you’re taking a test), but what can you do…
Try some retail therapy at the Americana when you’re done with your test ;)
