Shimmering Waters Pool Services

Dan and Shimmering Waters has been my pool maintenance company of choice for over two years now. His crew shows up on time, as expected and maintains my pool and filter system for an extremely reasonable price. I have never once had an issue with my pool water since Shimmering Waters has taken over my weekly pool service and in fact I have felt quite confident recommending this company to other pool owners for regular maintenance service. Thanks to Dan and his crew for making my swimming seasons worry free.

Dan was knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. He carefully explained the details about pool maintenance and helped me feel comfortable as a 1^st time pool owner. Rich does my weekly service and he always keeps the pool sparkling. I am very happy with the company and plan to use them when I resurface the pool this winter.

Where to begin on a highly negative review about a pool re-​do by this company? For 10 months I have waited for the main problem, a problem this company was the cause of, to be rectified, to no avail. I can only guess Dan is waiting two more months for the warranty to be over so he is not accountable for his mistake. This months call was unanswered. Synopsis~ DO NOT use this man for a pool renovation. He is a pool guy for pool maintenance only. He did well when he fixed our pool pump. Not so much for a simple pool renovation. He has no crew or techs relying on him for reputation. He is a very expensive and unnecessary middle man. He hires a crew to do the work and then leaves the customer to oversee the project. I REGRET deciding to hire him.
All I have wanted and STILL want is the leveler to work! A leveler I did not even want. A leveler that was added at his cost and the crews labor because he was not overseeing this renovation. Over a month to complete, I do not lie when I say he showed up TWO times only, until final bill day. An abandoned line was not only not sealed, but perfectly mini pebbled around. To add insult to incompetence, Dan was handing me a final bill while a drain cover was being screwed on to «hide» the mistake. See pictures. You will see my hand and a totally USELESS hole with a drain cover on it (before the leveler was added) as the water was filling up to further «hide» the mistake!
How did a hole like that get forgotten? Honest mistake you can think. But you see, a big deal was made of that area. It was an old line only 2′ from the filter. A new designated vacuum line was desired and hope was to be put right there. But no, Dan stated there was fear of the crew digging in that area and hitting electrical lines of the pool light. We wanted no safety hazard so as suggested we agreed to the new line, at a costly fee of digging and re-​plumbing 20′ on the other side of the pool. Somehow the crew forgot that danger, thought the hole had purpose and left it, as they perfectly plastered around the useless hole of danger. Later when demanded to fix, they had to dig in that area anyways for their solution of making the useless hole, useful~ a water leveler. I flat out refused to have a mini pebble «patch» on a brand spanking new mini pebble plastered pool. It was admitted that a patch would show.
I say that about the crew in jest. Among a communication barrier, they honestly tried as hard as they could with what was thrown at them. The customer pointing out mistakes and the biggest problem, being the absent Dan, the guy hired to do the job! Everything I relayed to him upon our planning discussion literally had to be re-​communicated to the crew at each step. I kid you not when I say, he would call to tell what to tell them! Unprofessional!
So now what I have is the first useless hole in the side of the pool and a useless hole outside the pool for the leveler that levels the pool water if you shoot hose water through it to start it. Then it doesn’t work until you do that again. Four times Dan or the crew came out and that is what they did, blew water through it and it worked that day. As the water evaporates, it has never turned on again on its own since 11÷11÷14. Pics, emails & video has been sent to Dan to show that it is not functioning with out that kick start. Imagine buying a new car and you have to get a jump to start it every time. Would that be acceptable? This situation is not acceptable. Dan said he wanted me to be happy when I looked at my pool. It was lip service because I am still not happy and he will not honor the warranty (as I throw my hose in to fill the pool right next to the non functioning water leveler). I have been very patient. At this point I am pissed, two months away from the one year warranty expiring, wondering if legal action is my only avenue.
So since I have to waste my time writing this review I think it pertinent to add more mistakes for you to consider if you consider hiring this company and as I said, I lay blame on Dan’s shoulders for not being present as HE was hired to do the job …
–Be clear on what grout you want. My mistake maybe, I assumed the grout would be white to blend in nicely with the light blue plaster. It is literally cement grey. Cement, as in used my skimmer basket to strain the rocks from cement and used as grout. The white water line shines brightly against the grey cement grout.
–Later mentioned I need a skimmer basket as I don’t have one. When pointed out what mine was used for and where I seen it last in the garbage pile, a new one magically appeared.
–Another dead line, an abandoned aerator line, was also forgotten to be sealed and covered to the point of being PERFECTLY tiled around. Was fixed. And by now crew and customer is super frustrated and tense. Dan? Nowhere to be seen.
Oh there is more! But there is a cap for writing on here (see pics). I hope to come back and say he fixed the problem! Doubt it after this review.

Do you want to empty your own skimmer baskets, brush your own pool walls and steps, skim your pool and vacuum it yourself, but pay FULL price for FULL service you will absolutely not receive? If so, then Shimmering Waters Pool services is the company for you.
This company boasts that they are a full service company. They even go so far as to capitalize FULL on every page of their website. Unfortunately, full-​service or even partial service is not what you will receive.
My pool service person shows up occasionally, sporadically at best, and when he does bother to show, he provides chemical services. He is here for less than 5 minutes and does not even empty the skimmer baskets. And don’t even think you will be offered a refund when he does not show up, the owner will shrug it off and give you a, «Hmmm… He shouldn’t be doing that, «I’ll talk to him again.» Or «We’ll try better next time». Even better, he’ll try to tell you that they take the week of Christmas and Thanksgiving off (which they charge you for), so maybe that’s why you haven’t seen the pool person around. He told me this in May, so I’m not sure how that can be relevant when I receive pool service approximately 3 weeks a month at best, throughout the year.
My neighbor fired them quite some time ago, and I guess I should have as well.

Dan is a wonderful person to do business with. He helped me put my pool back together for a great price. I have been without my pool for about 6 years and I finally got it back in working order. He totally remodeled the whole thing. I got a new filter and pump to go with it as well. I would recommend him for all my pool needs.

We were with our prior pool company for 6 years that went through some personnel changes. My pool was pretty much green all summer and they just kept coming out and shocking it. Finally had enough and called Dan. He drained the pool, acid washed it, gave me an update on my pool condition. We signed up with monthly service. My pool has never been so crystal clear. They are here when they say they will be and do what they say they will do. Very easy to work with, nice people, and they know what they are doing. What more can you ask for, oh yes they are reasonable in their pricing. Highly recommend.

All I have to say is wow
I called to see if I can get a quote for my green pool. Instead I reach Dan who was very helpful. He walked me through what I would need and how to do it. He explained to me the product I was using wasn’t working and he even offered me I call him back if I needed help. I truly felt as if he wants to help people and not just screw people over with over price and unnecessary chemicals. I would recommend this company because he offered to help and took the time to educate me in proper pool cleaning.

Dan has become my go to person for pool advice, information, and servicing in the valley. After getting a couple quotes from him and comparing it to companies we’ve used in the past, I really value his opinion and trust his feedback. If you are looking for someone super knowledgeable that does a terrific job then Dan is your Man! Thanks Dan, we appreciate you.

Unhelpful. Called to ask if they worked on splash pads, said no. Asked if he knew someone that did, he said no. He then said call a pond company. I explained to him that my setup is just like a pool, I have a pool pump, pool filter and valves. He said no, it’s an accessory water feature, call a fountain company.
One would think with 40 years he might know something. Considering splash pads are popping up all over Phoenix.

I’m in the middle of a home renovation and have repairmen in the house for every possible issue… roof, plumbing, drywall, you name it. Dan has been by far the easiest to deal with. Knowing that I know nothing of spa repair, he explained things to me simply and clearly. He also advised me of the range of prices I could expect for the variety of repair issues (spa was neglected for years and in total disarray) and exactly what was driving the wide difference in repair costs. In the end, each of the repair issues was addressed with the least expensive cost estimate that was proposed to me. So nice and rare to work with someone who is simply honest. I highly recommend him!

Honest very reliable guy, rebuilt my pump for minimal cost, tried them all in wickenburg this guy is the best!

I have been through many pool companies for cleaning, repairs, etc until I discovered Shimmering Waters. I have had them as my pool cleaners for about a year. They are professional, their work is superb and they are very friendly! I don’t even have to wonder & worry if they are going to show up on the day they are supposed to for cleaning, like I had done all the time with the prior companies I hired. There just aren’t enough nice words to say about Dan and his company! Thank you Dan and everyone at Shimmering Waters!

Horrible service, horrible customer service, and horrible quality of service! Do not waste your time or money using this company for your pool needs. Dan (602)363−8267 broke my pool filtration system and left it in a nonworking condition. He will not repair the issue he caused, and told me to go somewhere else.
Save yourself the hassle, there are plenty of other quality pool companies out there.

I just bought a new house with a pool. The pool was not in a good shape, since the previous owner didn’t take good care of it for a while. I called Dan and had him come to take a look. He gave us a fair estimate and explained to me what needs to be done. He cleaned the pool and came back to installed a cleaner. I paid the invoice thinking that his job was done. But no, he came back few more time to check on the pool and did more work on it to make sure that it gets back to good shape. It’s been more than a week since his first visit. As I am writing this review, he is calling me to let me know that he was there to take a final look at the pool and give me more caring instructions.
I am really happy that I chose Dan, because he is reliable and responsible. He is always willing to help and take care of his customer. I recommend him to anyone who may need a pool serviced.

Dan come out to inspect my pool pump and determined the issue right away. A broken valve which is covered by my home warranty. He also gave me good information on how to properly clean my pool and what chemicals to use.

It took him a year to respond to my post and this is some sort of back handed apology I think… for some reason stating that I have a low income or that I am on a fixed budget. I see there are a whole two positive reviews on here! Wow… There are a lot of pool companies in the phoenix area. Im not trying to refer anyone in particular but I would guess there are many better than this one. This all came from one bad experience. The explanation of the experience I gave was correct. The situation was handled very poorly by dan and this response to a post on Unilocal,which had a few more lies in it, just calls his character into question a little more. I’ve left this alone for a year now, I had one bad experience and explained it just to let other people know of what I went through. That is the reason Unilocal is here Dan, to give examples of good and bad experiences. You responding in this way just shows your lack of integrity and capabilities as a business owner. If you do use this company good luck and I really do hope dan has improved on on the way that he conducts his business because all I see is lies and trying to cover up the mistake that he made in past. I thought this was over but him questioning my integrity is not right. His pool tech never came by that week to find a locked gate, he simply did not show. He did over charge me and became very defensive upon me even asking about it.
I just can not believe he would say some of those things that he did in his response. It is very disappointing that a childish response to my one year old post was something that dan felt he needed to do.

Dan was just at our home taking a look at an apparent electrical issue with our pool pump. He was able to quickly identify where the problem was, and refer us to another business that deals with electric pool issues. I’m very please with Dan and Shimmering pools for a few reasons.
1) He answered his phone one the first call! (that’s always reassuring)
2) He came out less than 24 hours after we called, and was very flexible with our schedule.
3) Promptly identified the issue and gave us his recommendation
4) Asked for us to follow up if we needed another recommendation.
Dan and Shimmering Waters will be our go to pool guy from now on. We previously would go directly through Leslie’s but found the wait to be usually 4 days to a week or more. That’s just too long when it’s this hot outside and you pool need attention!

I hired Shimmering Waters pool services because I was unhappy with my previous service providers.
I felt that my pool was just not cleaning the way it used to and my old provider was very unresponsive. When Shimmering Waters took over, they identified the problem and even suggested before I have them fix it that I contact the original builder to see if it was still under warranty. It was! I saved hundreds! It would have been easy for Dan to charge me and never mention that. That’s integrity!
Dan and his team do an excellent job. They answer all of my questions. The service is consistent. Communication is good. Repairs and such are done well!
I would recommend Shimmering Waters without hesitation!

Shimmering Waters is truly a wonderful pool service. They are friendly and do an amazing job. I cannot say enough good things about this place! I would recommend Shimmering Waters for anybody that wants outstanding service and their pool to look fabulous!
