I graduated in December, 2015. What was weird is that I never met Scott, didn’t know about him until I looked to review other schools online. I noticed how well his LA Film School review was done and thought to myself that this is a guy who I can direct important — somewhat life changing questions — towards. He messaged me back a down-​to-​earth response. I was still looking around. I even had a TV/​Film background but needed to refresh my skills. Upon a personal recommendation from a former student who knew Scott, I contacted him and set up a time to sit down and «interview» each other. Scott took time to genuinely understand my situation, asked me as many background questions as I did of him, and screened me for his program. I never looked back. I have to say Scott is as true a professional in this industry as I’ve met.
From day 1 in class, Scott was clear in meeting my qualifications as a personal, one-​on-​one teacher, eloquent Jean Claude Van Damme impersonator (Inside joke, just ask his students), industry savior (enlightening me from some jaded industry experiences), and overall bad-​ass when it comes to a myriad of subjects ranging from storytelling to producing your own production to making it in this dogged industry. He’s not afraid to tell you the truth, constructively critique your ideas and/​or direction and laugh along the way. He will also take the extra time after or away from class to help you with your skills.
His small class size, up-​to-​date equipment, decade of past experience in just about every field an industry expert can teach and drive to succeed rubs off on his students and leads towards their successes. He has real world experience, a demo that speaks volumes and a rare ability to help you grow from your mistakes. Even now, he’s being hounded by professional post-​houses looking to train THEIR editors, some of which have been in the industry longer than him.
For the money, it’s the best program in Hollywood and Scott has been building a legion of followers because of his clear, easy to understand teaching methods, likable personality and great location for many of us in the industry who work closely with Hollywood.
Where do you want to start or finish your education — some overly expensive and large film school where you have to pay loans similar to med students, or a tailored program to meet you individual needs for a fraction of the price? I’m reinvigorated that I did the latter.

Scott is the best. He stayed late to teach me all about photoshop and I basically got a one on one session and learned what I needed to size images, distress graphics, manipulate photos, retouch photos, etc. He was very hands on and passionate about the subject and cared about the students learning everything. I’ve been working as a professional photographer for over 7 years and I had zero clue how to use Photoshop until I took a 4 hour class with Scott last month (June 2015). Scott was incredibly patient (I’m certain I asked a lot of dumb questions) and he focused on teaching me the techniques that would most apply to photography needs. i walked in unsure of a lot of things, most importantly not knowing the job that was right for me… and my mind was immediately set at ease with the thoughtful guidance of the staff at sharp focus and the experience provided during my time there. as a former high school teacher, i’m fairly critical of the way one presents themselves and the content they are trying to teach… i can’t recommend the staff at sharp focus highly enough! they are down-​to-​earth, knowledgable and obvious experts of their craft.

I was working on a award winning documentary, had a demo reel, and a in & out understanding of various workflows. This was well before finishing the program.

This class was introduced and greatly taught by the schools founder, Scott Crawley. Right off the bat, I felt a vibe of «This is the real deal».
I found his insights and grounded perspective extremely of great value.
One promo piece I worked on, I felt was excellent after I cut it down to 2min 15 sec. Scott pushed my limits to get me to cut it down to a realistic time of 1 min, which was very challenging for me. Once I proudly showed him my 1 min piece, he told me it was excellent, but as his «client» things have changed and he needs it to be 30 sec.” An impossible task I thought, but with much guidance, he taught me how to tell a complete story as quickly as possible.
What I LOVE most, is it’s not just some school I went to, I now have a friend in the Industry. Always willing to help me out when trends and technology change!

Not only is Scotts funny and bright personality make it fun and interesting in class, He makes sure everyone is following along and not falling behind.
