My dad walks a lot and never keeps his dress shoes clean, so I figured why not go to Payless since he gets his shoes from there? So he picked out a pair, went to the register, and grabbed a bottle of shoe polish. I was in the process of purchasing it. The merchant asked for a phone number for coupons or rewards, but I don’t like giving out my number at the mall. I asked my dad if he wanted to give his number and he also said no. We walked around the mall. While we were walking back he decided that he didn’t like those shoes anymore so I went back upstairs to Payless while my dad waited downstairs by Macy’s. I walked in, but no one was at the register so I had to call for help and it was the same merchant. This is how our conversation went. Me: I would like to return these shoes. Merchant: What is the number that you registered with? Me: I didn’t give you a number. Merchant: You didn’t, but your dad did. Me: No he didn’t. Merchant: Yes he did while you were over there looking at those flats or up here looking at there. Me: um okay… I just didn’t feel like arguing because it was pretty useless. First of all I don’t wear or like flats at all. I was the one who purchased the pair for my dad so why would I be wandering off somewhere else? After I met up with my dad, I asked him if he gave the merchant his number(just to be 100% positive) and guess what? He said no. So unprofessional, so rude.

I have always liked Payless. It probably started growing up, as my parents were not well off. And, this was were most of my shoes came from. I have tried the $ 200 shoes… they last just as long. How long something lasts depends on how well you take care of it! As for this particular store(and the rating). The service was pretty good. It was packed on this day for the back-to-school crowd. But the employees were doing a great job to make sure everyone was taken care of.
