I tried this place today. The food was fresh and served in best quality. The design of restaurant is in a way that you have the most privacy ever than any other restaurant. It’s chef whose name is Volod is an experienced, hard worker chef with a lot of good ideas about how to make all the dishes perfectly. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

This is a jewel that I just happened upon one day. Other reviews are very accurate and I would visit again at a drop of a hat. Wide variety of menu items to meet even the most finicky eater.

Stopped here for lunch and was impressed. Really interesting menu of Armenian/Russian /middle Eastern food. Unique décor. Clean bathrooms and common areas. Had a beef stroganoff served over thin French fries. Excellent Did ask for lemonade and got a bottle of fizzy pear drink. When pointing out it was not lemons I was firmly told it was Pear and I felt that was end of conversation. Added to charm of place really. Would return but at night to drink more adult drinks and spend more time on menu.

We really enjoyed our gathering together at OLDGYUMRI. Beautifully designed interior in traditional Armenian cottage style with folk accessories and décor that add to the mood of the experience. We felt we were in Armenia, our memories connecting us back to our roots. Delicious food and excellent service as well.

I rarely go out or my way to give good reviews. I am only jumping on Unilocal to leave shitty reviews to places that deserves shitty reviews. Now that the word shit has been thrown around many a times in this reviews, let’s not monkey around, this place is anything but that, shit that is. Really, let’s be serious. The food here is amazing and I really think this place beats that stupid rafis kabob bullshit every single time. Why is this place so good you say? Because the quality of the food and the way they prepare it reminds me of mothers cooking, and even the way I prepare Armenian BBQ is similar. They don’t over season the food with all types of bullshit spices like these Persian or Lebanese places all over the place. Old Gyumri uses fresh high quality meats and they let the meat be the star of the show, not the seasonings. People have to understand that if a restaurant has tons of seasoning on their food, it is to hide cheap quality of the main item in the dish, whether it is meat, fish or anything else. I know it’s a culture thing when it comes to heavy use of spices and seasoning, but the main reason this was used back In the day, was due to lack of refrigerators. We don’t have this problem in America, so stop drowning your food in seasoning to hide cheap quality Meats. Everything on the menu here is delicious and it’s all home made. The worst part about the restaurant is the type of people it attracts. It’s mostly drunk, scary looking Armenian men. Place isn’t exactly setup to be a family dinning experience. I suggest you get the food to go and enjoy everything in your own atmosphere

This place is awesome. Definitely going back. I just wish they make the place look more authentic… it seems plain. Obviously they are doing for the old village look which is awesome but you can make it look better. Also the seats in the private room are not so great if you have lower back issues.

Good place to have Armenian/Mediterranean/Russian/Uzbek food. The shish kebab is a little dry though. Also I would highly recommend the restaurant management to add few sauces to the selection. C’mmon if the kebab is dry you need to add some adjika. Otherwise nice armenian café!

My family and I love this place. The food is always so delicious and most importantly fresh. The people are very sweet and fast, the owner himself comes and checks on you to make sure you’re having a great time. You can have parties there too. I had my 32nd birthday party there this year, and I was very happy with the rest of 40 guests I had. They went above and beyond. Thank you guys very much. I highly recommend this place.

Good decoration but bad food quality. The place was totally empty on a Sunday evening, and we were the only customers. We couldn’t feel any taste while eating their our dishes. The rice was plain with no flavor, the taooq was too large and tasteless, while the lule was dry, thick piece of meat with some kind of smell that I don’t know what is for sure. One try experience for me.

Old Gyumri is the go to restaurant when you want some delicious food and great atmosphere. All the food is amazing especially the ker u sus(eat and be quiet), the lamb chops are amazing! The fries are hand cut from fresh potatoes, a must try, all the food is fresh and authentic and that is really what makes a great restaurant. The waitress was very attentive, polite and genuine, just a great dining experience, 6 stars !

This is a review of food that i had delivered… frankly the best thing was the rice! I ordered chicken kebabs, dry and sinewy, the mutabal, not like any other i have had, no nice smoky eggplant flavor more like they had tipped a can of tahini in there, thick and unctuous, armenian salad, almost OK but had to squeeze 2 lemons over it to get any flavor and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. The extra star is for the size of the portions… really disappointing!!!

I LOVE the food here. Let me just say that first! The lady waitress was also SUPER nice, however, the owner was not so kind. Today, I went in and ordered the Shish Kabob, Chicken, beef Luleh, and Pork ribs, which were cooked to perfection! The rice, hummus, beef jerky, were also stellar! Ive never had food like that, however, right when I got to the roasted vegetables, I found a larvae inside of it. I literally almost freaked the F*** out. Anyways, I didnt think it was a big deal, and told my waitress. She kindly called the boss, and he came by and said that that isnt anything he could control, and basically made it seem like it wasnt his fault, which I did not blame him for. He kept going, and kept acting as if we were accusing him, which made me feel very uncomfortable. I didnt want to start anything, so I just agreed and nodded to his talking. and that made me feel a bit upset. but besides that, food, décor, and service was overall good! Im glad my friend took me here :)
