THIS PLACE HAS SHUT DOWN!!!
Sucks that this place closed down! I was walking by the other day and big signs all over said that the school is now closed! It was a pretty good place to go for a quick blow dry for $ 7, nails for $ 5 and other great services. Just thought I’d post this up so people can know that it was there but not anymore…

This school is good for passing the state board and it helped me grow as a professional and I would recommend this school to anyone wanting to pas the state board

Wow. Today was my first experience with Miss Moro herself and, already, her professionalism and willingness to help me has surpassed my recent visits to local beauty schools. Where other beauty colleges were lacking, Miss Moro picked up the slack by going above and beyond my needs, and I haven’t even registered yet! Needless to say, I am already a very impressed potential student. Can’t wait to meet her and see Moro Beauty College!

I have been putting off this review for the longest time. I wanted to make sure I passed my stateboard test first and not get any bad vibes! If I could list 100 reasons NOT to go to this school as a STUDENT I would! If you like being stuck in the 1960’s and learning nothing but that then this is the perfect place for you! The teachers are ancient, the owner only cares about the money and your lucky if you learn anything! This place is downright DIRTY! The rat poop in the lunch room was a nice touch and the mold forming on all the ceilings is a problem. I will state that after finishing my 1600 hours here threw countless fights and tears I did get my license a month ago! Can I say I felt ready? NO!!! I thought for sure I would fail and I can almost promise you the fact that I was pregnant and had my belly got me to pass! I was beyond uncomfortable the whole time and the amount of time they give you for each service is NOT enough at all! If you work at your pace and remember what you read out of your textbook NOT what you were taught you will be golden!

Do I recommend this school? My answer would be NO

before going i called i ask how much for blow dry. They said $ 7 and up. So my hair lenght is by my shoulders teacher said she would charge me $ 35 for the blow dry. I said $ 35 for a student to do it where i can go to a Professional salon and get charge $ 25 so i said no thank you.

I LOVE their facials. Seriously, they do a better job than most places I’ve been to. I’m an Esthetician myself, so I know what a good job they’re doing. Mrs. Moro, who is adorable, is teaching them well because every time I go, each girl is just as good as the last. I’ve never had a bad facial from a poor equipped student. They all know what they’re doing and are confident and skillful. I’ve had better results there than from a professional technician. Another cool thing is that I can overhear what she’s teaching in the class and it’s helpful and cool things that I didn’t necessarily learn at my school. She teaches them like she’s their Mom! So carefully and thoroughly. I wish I had a teacher like that! And you can’t beat the price for the length and results of the service.

I attended this school many years ago. While I cannot vouch for their performance in the last couple of years, I can say that I had a good experience learning what I needed to pass state board tests and acquire a position in a lucrative salon. They teach what you need to know, from providing services to clients to passing the test. Not a bad school!

Love and support beauty schools! I had a mohawk once… for a Latina female who has grown up with long black, feminine hair her entire life… I didn’t cry when I buzzed it. Thus… I am not afraid to be a hair salon guinea pig.
The instructors here are amazing, they love their work and are on top of the students when you decide to get a hair cut. Not only is it affordable at $ 7 a cut, $ 10 with wash and style, but its comforting to know that I’m giving back by choppin my locks.
Side note ~ there’s also a esthetician /​skin care school upstairs. That’s where the wonderful Ms. Morro is usually situated. She’s had this school open for YEARS and there’s a reason why they are still there. I’ve had the European Facial several times and they seriously do a GREAT job. Depends on the students level and experience of course, but I’ve never left unsatisfied. $ 30 — make an appointment!

I went here many years ago to get my esthetician license. I already knew a lot about skincare and make up from working with cosmetic companies, and their training, so I was mainly interested in getting my license. I like the small family atmosphere, even if the building is older, not new and shiny. The point is, they train you to pass state board so you get your license! It’s not fancy, but then again, it’s a lot less expensive than the fancy schools, so I thought it was money well spent, not thrown away on what the school looks like. If you want to get your esthetician or cosmetology license, get it done, go to this school and save your money!

The first 7 weeks I spent in a classroom enviornment with Ms. Patty and built a foundation I wouldnt have recieved anywhere else. Everyday I was eager to get up and learn something new! The detail and facts are on point, and to the book. I learned everything I needed to know about state board and the basics of hair, skin, and nails. After the 7 weeks you are given a mock state board test AMAZING! It really lets you know where you are, how much you know, and prepares you for the real test.
BUT. After those 7 weeks you sit in a room with 30+ other students, 1 teacher and repeat repeat repeat. No more learning. No more structure. No supervision. No color class! ((that is a major thing in this industry!)) You will know 3 basic haircuts, how to do a perm and old lady hair-​dos. the end. It is a Stateboard ONLY school with old school teachers. So unless it was popular 20 years ago or is bare basic. you wont learn it.

I have been going here off and on for 8 years. Mary the lady at the desk is hilarious! This is a great place to go if you need a quick trim or a wax. I get my eyebrows done there. $ 6 and I have never had a problem with them. In between getting major haircuts when I need a trim. I come here. You go to a salon and it can be $ 30 for just the trim. I save money by coming her. I have never gotten my nails done here. That is only because I like the massage chair.

I guess u get what you pay for. It’s cheap and convenient since there is no appt needed or very little wait time.
Took my mom out there & I’d say if ur getting ur hair & nails done for an outing then pay a little more for a professional. Otherwise you might be a little dissapointed cuz the trainees just aren’t perfect :)
