Monterey Tow Service

Towed my car while I was on vacation and parked directly in front of my apartment building. I just moved here from Florida so I’m completely oblivious to California’s secret 72 hour parking policy (NO SIGNS ANYWHERE!). I called the company to get my car back which is impossible because the operator is stating she is not on property and can’t help me. She doesn’t even know what time they open. First I was told 8am, then that changed to 9am when I called a second time.

This is the worse customer service I have ever dealt with. The old man who answers the phone should retire. Aside from the fact that he has a hearing problem, he has no patience & hates to answer any questions u may have. If u ask for a breakdown of the (ridiculous) fees they r charging you, he becomes upset & offended. Stay away from these unprofessional thieves!

Spoke with Bob. Was very rude. Had aome questions for him regarding getting my 80 year old uncle’s car put of their lot after an accident. He was very rude. When i asked why he was being rude to me. He replied with «i wasn’t! Screw you… i dont need to talk to you» and hung up. Stay away from these people. They do not want to help you because the longer they keep the vehicle there the more they charge for storage. HORRIBLE SERVICE… DO NOT WORK WITH THEM.

my vehicle impounded with a 30 day hold. Nov 26 was when i was allowed to take it out (thanksgiving) so the jackass said its an extra days charge ??? How when they are closed on the day of thanksgiving for me to get my car. Oh and any other time i have called to ask a question he has been extremely rude and cant even hang up without saying bye worse customer service i have ever received. BY FAR RUDEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.

Jorge came to my rescue in a very hot mid day I was with my son loves out of my car. And AAA was having system trouble. On hold for 34 minutes. Monterey towing dispatched Jorge and he came to our rescue like am Angel. Thanks I said to him and God bless. He said you as well.

Better hope your car never gets towed here. Car was towed here after 2am. Got a price over the phone in the morning that was apparently only good until noon. When I get there at 5pm it’s $ 60 more for «after hours» on the same day. Guy goes on to say, «you’re lucky it wasn’t Glendale PD or it would have been a lot more.» Better believe a report will be filed with BBB.

Very rude and provided wrong information!

Just all kinds of awesome! Tim arrived way before the expected arrival time, was super polite and changed my tire in what seemed like seconds. Super pleased with the service, and he still went the extra mile to try to contact me to let me know I left my hazards on when I went in the house.
I’m gonna ask AAA to send me Monterey next time I’m in a jam!

Any time I need a Tow i asked AAA is Monterey Tow can serve me, it all depends on where i am when it happens of course.
Monterey Tow is a great all around company. I started off knowing them because they were huge supporters in the local baseball and softball teams. I am all for a company who supports the local kids and i use to be one of those kids!
My most recent review is for a job i called Monterey Tow to help out on. I surprised my now husband with an antique fire truck for our wedding. The truck was no where near the wedding location and we needed to have it towed. Monterery tow was glad to help and they were so great on working with us on our times (even during the busy evening Holiday weekend) They helped make our wedding unforgettable!

These guys are thieves. They obviously ransacked my car. I have a distrust for the towing industry as it is. As I was waiting for a ambulance I had enough since to gather as much personal/​valuable items as I could. I begged the fire dept to throw my computer bag on the gurney with me. Well good thing because when I went back for my car it was a mess. All of my CD’s that were in the player were on the floor. I guess they didn’t like my music or they would have taken them. Luckily I didn’t leave them much to take. When I brought it to there attention the guy at the desk said they had to inventory my car. When I asked for a inventory list he said he didn’t have one. I will file a complaint with AAA, CHP and Glendale PD.

monterey tow’s status as official tow for the glendale police is itself a crime, a greasy arrangement worthy of a raymond chandler story. of all the local tow companies their rates are the highest and their attitude is the shittiest. such is the privilege of an opd.
when your car is towed by the gpd you will recover it from monterey tow’s lot. your car will have been searched and items possibly removed, like a floor mat or the knob off your b&m shifter, or some random garbage like a rag or rubber glove may be left in the back for you. your electric fuel pump may have been switched on and left to drain your battery. rest assured nobody at either entity wants to hear about it.
though someone may answer the phone at monterey tow, they may not know what time they open or close or that they even have your car. you may even have to file a stolen vehicle report with the gpd for them to discover your car is at monterey tow. another classic gag is they tell you over the phone how much to spring your ride but neglect to mention necessary gpd releases or other required procedures that would have been helpful information before arranging transportation there or renting a trailer or dolly.
it will cost you roughly $ 135 for the tow, $ 250 gpd services fee, and $ 37.50 for each day your ride is in jail, and that does not include your ticket which you must take care of elsewhere. so even if you follow the truck hauling your car into the yard, the minimum ransom to spring baby will be $ 400. and don’t forget to take care of the ticket. also, thoroughly inspect your vehicle before leaving the yard.
you are a joke to these people and they will treat you as such.

All I needed was a jump start and AAA dispatched Monterey Towing. The driver was really great. He knew more about my 28-​year-​old vehicle than I did (I’m the original owner) and he gave me a few valuable pointers. Very helpful, great attitude, and of course, got my vehicle started in no time.

Christmas Eve i got a flat tire, the guy arrived 15 min after I called triple A and changed my flat to the spare tire i had., then he went that extra mile and towed me to the gas station {then back home} to inflate the spare tire. that was wayyy toooo cool. he rocked!

This company has unsafe drivers. Today, 12−8−10 @ 345pm, location was 245 N. Glendale Ave., I was almost struck by a Monterey Tow Truck. I was in the crosswalk and he was on his cell phone and when I yelled at him he slammed on the brakes and yell obscenities. He almost hit me and he was the angry one. He is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Shame on Monterey Tow for hiring an employee that is a threat to public safety!
Just need to add an update. I was just below San Fernando Rd. and couldn’t believe the disregard for laws by this company. I was waiting for a red light and a Monterey Tow Truck pulled up next to me and was turning left towards their impound lot. I couldn’t believe what happened next. He decided that he did not have to wait for the light since Glendale Police was not visable. It is amazing this company has such a disregard for public safety.

I got into a car accident on the 134 and 5 freeway junction two weeks ago and had to call 911 to file an police report. Because my car was damaged enough to render it inoperable, the officer called for a tow truck and this company responded. I immediately called my aunt, who owns a body shop, and she advised me to tell him to take it directly to her shop. The driver said that he wouldn’t be able to do that because it was company policy to take it to the towing yard first, where they would have to release it to whichever body shop AAA (my insurance) tells them to. Because this was my first time dealing with anything like this, I just agreed. He took my car to the towing yard, where he told me to get whatever was important and immediately needed and just leave behind anything else. His exact words were, «We’re a AAA-​certified company, you can trust that no one’s gonna touch your stuff.» Oh silly, naïve, gullible me. I trusted the man’s kind words. He was then nice enough to go ahead and give me and my sister a ride home, which only strengthened my faith in him and his company. The next day, AAA called me and asked me where my car was. When I told them that it was at the towing yard, they notified me that the driver could’ve and should’ve taken my car directly to the body shop and it was unnecessary hassle and expense that they took it to the towing yard. Okayyyy, that made this company look shady. Then I authorized my car to be released and towed to my aunt’s body shop (she personally overlooked the process). That day I realized that I had left my phone charger in the car and went to pick it up. I opened the armrest compartment thing in my car, which was normally full of my stuff, and realized that it was half-​empty. Some of my stuff had been stolen. I did a quick check and noticed the following things missing:
my backup phone (MyTouch 3g)
two car chargers
one wall charger
two USB data cables
iPod shuffle (brand new in box)
iPod wall charger
Nintendo DS car charger
It couldn’t have been anybody at the body shop because they’re my aunt’s employees and she wouldn’t have allowed something like that to happen. When I called this company, they took my information (make and model, license plate) and put me on hold for ten minutes only to tell me that they don’t know anything about my stuff and that I had probably just misplaced them. Stupid. I am going to call AAA first thing tomorrow to report this company, so that they lose their AAA certification.

I would give no stars if possible.
My wife and I have a horror story with this towing company.
To spare the gory details here are just the points:
1) Wouldn’t accept my AAA because they wanted hard cash and because AAA doesn’t pay as much.
2) Instead of taking my car to a body shop like we asked, took it to their impound yard after blatantly lying to my wife.
3) Gloated in a sadistic way that if I couldn’t come up with the cash, that he would charge 33 per every few hours over.
4) When I brought the money and showed I was indignant that I had to go through all this (I had to drive from Pomona to rescue my car that shouldn’t have gone to an impound yard), he said that I would have to move the car out of the yard by myself before closing at 6:00pm when it was already 5:15pm. He basically told me that I would have to push the car out of the yard myself or pay extra. He would not help me out.
5) Obviously have a nice racket going on with the GPD as they are the only company servicing Glendale and they were called by the cop before I could call AAA.
6) Incredible asshole answering phone calls. He may be manager and people may call him sir, but he is a criminal. He didn’t make any sense, and in his mind the couldn’t come to explain why my car had been impounded when we own the car.
7) Needs to be investigated for their nefarious practices.
8) My wife was so saddened and shaken up by the accident and when she wanted the car towed to a body shop (the driver’s answer) we were being robbed, mistreated and abused by an unkind staff that gloated about our circumstances.
Please don’t use this company. They have a «special» deal with GPD. Hopefully you never have an accident in this very driver unfriendly town.
It is a nice city if you don’t drive. I hope that you guys never have to go through what we went through.

I had 4 flat tires due to a stupid mechanic error and Monterey Tow Service was nice enough to come to my place in less than 30 minutes and refill the air back into my tires. The dude was done in less than an hour.
A bit pricey though at $ 50 for just refilling my tires, but whatever, I got reimbursed from the mechanic so I didn’t care. Will probably call them again if I ever need help in Glendale!

Despite snarled traffic backed up as far as the eye could see, Monterey Tow Service got a truck out to Bumpy and me before the clean-​up of our accident yesterday finished.
The tow truck driver, Ed, was kind and professional. (Not to mention handsome!) He could tell how freaked out I was, so he made small talk on the way back to Pasadena, keeping my mind off the horror of the wreck of which I’d just been a part and keeping me calm.
When we arrived at my house, he was apologetic that we’d gone over my allotted AAA mileage (7 miles) and he had to charge me $ 27. He called in my credit card and I overheard him speaking to the gentleman in the office, who he always called «sir» — I do love a polite tow truck driver.
Because I’d left my emergency lights on during the entire time from the accident to when Ed arrived, my battery died, so he did me one last kindness and jump started my car.
I’ve been towed a number of times, but this was the best service, the cleanest truck, and the utmost professionalism I’ve ever experienced. Hopefully I won’t need to be towed again any time soon, but if I do, at least I’ll know who to call.
