La Crescenta Nursery

I drive all the way here from Glendale near Eagle rock because of the friendly and attentive service! They also teach you proper care of your potted plants. A good thing for a newbie like me… They also have a wide variety of blooms and plants great for indoor and outdoor… Two thumbs up! :)

My husband and I just purchased an indoor plant and 2 citrus trees from here. We also got a pot, soil and fertilizer helpers recommended. We’ll see how they go. We are very a beginner.
I don’t understand why some people blame their loss of plants for this nursery… if it dies immediately like within a week, I think you could say something was wrong with it but after months later… seriously? It’s that you didn’t take care of it right.
We are coming back for more flowers!

The selection of unusual flowers and plants was huge and many
types of shade flowers and plants. The staff was very knowledgable
and very helpful and honest. It is a bit out of the way but well worth
the drive.

I love this place! They have a wide variety of pretty much everything. I found out about this place through Unilocal and I’ve been there 4 times since. I love their soil selection too — my fave is their Palm, Cactus & Citrus mix. Great fruit and shade tree selection too. The only two things that I am taking a star off for are — price and no returns :(Have fun though — it takes a while to go through the grounds.

Large an spacious nursery. I was hunting around for a place that sold sod and other assorted plants and La Crescenta Nursery was the best of the best in the area. The place is seriously huge with and a large indoor and outdoor section. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I have been there a few times to buy sod and plant food and had a great experience every time.

Never in my life have I been treated so rudely. The manager of La Crescenta just hung up on me when I asked if they could replace a Redbud tree I purchased from them that died. He offered a 20% discount and then hung up abruptly when I said that was not acceptable. Most of the nurseries I buy from guarantee their plants, including independent ones. I’d actually bought two 15-​gallon Forest Pansy Redbuds from them the same day, one was planted in my side garden and one by my pond. Both were expertly planted. The one in the garden died last year and I just chalked it up to bad luck… but now the one by the pond is clearly dead and for no good reason. It was watered diligently and well cared for. Being beside a pond there is no way it didn’t get enough water. There was no evidence of wilt or any other disease that typically plague these trees. And yet it failed to bud this year and the branches are bone dry. I have spent thousands at this nursery, but La Crescenta has forever lost my business. I will instead give my landscaping dollars to local nurseries that stand by their product and offer superior customer service. I know for a fact that if I had bought these dud trees from my goto chain nursery the manager would be on the phone RIGHT NOW calling around to every location to find me another one asap. And if they didn’t have one he would special order it. He has done it before. The man will not rest until you are happy. And I always am. To hell with these people.

This nursery has the most beautiful orchids! I went in there for some help on plants and Evelin was super helpful! I appreciate her customer service, she went out of her way to make sure I left a happy customer. I could tell she enjoys what she does by the way she treats her plants. Will definitely be back.

I enjoy going to La Crescenta Nursery, a bit on expensive side. Recently I bought some nice rose plants from the nursery and the plants are healthy and with big flowers. I will go back and buy some more plants from the nursery.

I picked out the trees l, they already started to bare fruit which was cool.
They planted all three and total payout was almost $ 600.
Which was a little expensive but the service was really good and seems the planters care about doing the job properly when they come over. The best part is they all spoke English so I understood everything haha.
I may be getting a few more trees I saw.
They delivered and planted same day and the selection is really nice.

Great selection of plants and the service was excellent. The staff knew their inventory really well. They also deliver for just $ 25 which was nice. All in all great experience and I will be back.

Do not buy your plants from this nursery; they will not replace it if the plant they sell you dies 2-​weeks later. Very disappointed in their customer service.

We have bought several trees at La Crescenta Nursery, and Steve and his crew have delivered and planted them very professionally. Steve is a fantastic source of knowledge about all things related to plants and trees. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and are a pleasure to browse through. The staff are helpful and always available for help of any kind.

I purchased pigmy palm tree for $ 450 about 4 months ago as soon as i noticed my tree one side only was getting dry and other side growing fine I call the store and talk to Steve whith emailing pictures all he was trying to blaime me not treating the tree wront or not watering enough, but I had a springkler right on it. And as soon as I ask about warranty he told me no warranty an he was tring to sell another tree $ 450 I could get twice of same tree, they are expensive and no customer service at all

I purchased a hopa crabapple tree and total spent $ 200 w/​$ 25 delivery fee. I asked if the was a warranty on the tree and was told that there wasn’t but that they would come and take a look at the tree if it is not doing well in next couple of weeks.
Sure enough about a week later there was some serious sap leakage at one of the branches. The rest of the tree looked fine except for this one spot. I called and asked if they can come to look at the tree as they said they would but got put on hold. i could sense that they didn’t want to make the 5 block drive to my house. I offered to send pics of the problem spot so that maybe I can save them time. I was provided an email to send pics to but have not received a reply in a week.
The tree continues to leak sap but nothing I can do except wait it out. It’s not worth paying an arborist to come out.
If you like spending top dollar for plants that have no warranty and a company that does not stand by their promises… this is the place for you.

Alberto is basically a Botanist. Man knows EVERYTHING about plants, how to take care of them and can help you find the best match for you. Also, The nursery itself is large, with a ton of selection.

Beautiful and very large nursery, but expensive.
I was here a few weeks ago. Saw a few cactus plants that I loved, and have not seen those particular types at other nurseries.
I do think the prices are high as I bought a bag of polished rocks to decorate over the soil of a few cactus/​succulent plants. I didn’t have enough, and ended up at Virgil’s in Glendale yesterday and the same exact bag of rocks was $ 3 cheaper.
I also thought the potter section here was weak.
Highly recommend for the plants, but you can do much better on rocks and pots elsewhere. My two very favorite places for pots are Sunset Nursery in Silverlake, and International Nursery in El Segundo. The latter is quite a drive from Glendale, but worth it.

Today we decided to choose plants for our rooftop patio which gets lots of sun.
My beau had been to the nursery and has been recommending it for weeks.
We arrived and immediately received a welcome and instructions where to find the sunny or bird-​attracting plants.
The choices are really nice and set up in sections so that you can find items appropriate to your garden. We got salvias, coreopsis, 2 varieties, queen anne’s lace, vinca and a bunch of others in great mixed colors.
We keep lots of color on the patio and with our trumpet vines and bougainvillea plus several different hummingbird varieties in the foothills we enjoy dinners up there with the birds.
I would have liked to see more regular tomato plants for what was there either was a gigantic pot for $ 18 or some smaller grape tomatoes for $ 4 or so. I wonder if we were going there too late in the season for other tomatoes… Could be our misunderstanding of the season too. Other vegetables and herbs were good.
Staff at the greenhouse are plentiful and we got help taking the wagon of stuff to the car.
The staff place a barrier under the flats when they put items in the car so that you don’t get dirt all around.
Prices of the flats and pots were very reasonable. I much prefer coming here than to a big box store (where my nostrils are eroded by the attack of pesticide odors in the air). This place is peaceful, beautiful and a great new find.

As my rating reflects, I LOVE IT HERE.
There are plenty of parking spots as you pull into the nursery. This is a LARGE nursery that you can spend a lot of time just wandering around, taking in all of the gorgeous, seasonal plants.
We’ve used this garden for so much — during our wedding planning, we decided against fresh cut flowers, and instead bought a bunch of small to medium succulents, as well as their really cheap terra cotta pots! We spray painted the pots, planted the succulents, and VOILA! Instant table dressings for the wedding for NOTHING. Their succulent selection was expanse, and beautiful. The colors of their plants were gorgeous, and they were all so healthy. Our guests all loved it, and they all were taken to different homes around the country!
We also come here for all of our vegetable garden needs. They sell raised bed /​planter boxes, tons of healthy, in-​season veggies, and have a HUGE selection of soils.
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and so helpful. They’ve always been able to answer my stupid questions, and managed to make me not feel dumb about myself.
I highly recommend this nursery. The prices are a little higher than some of my other closer nurseries, but the selection, health of the plants, and the knowledge of the staff cannot be beat.

I bought some sod and was told a plastic sheet would be placed underneath the sod to protect my trunk. Needless to say, when I got home and unloaded the sod, my trunk looked like a dirt and mud-​filled pit. I literally see more mud and dirt in there than trunk lining.
Lesson: Protect your car! Don’t go in to pay and let the employees load your car while you’re away. You must supervise them or load your car yourself!
PS – TJ’s has way better prices on orchids and small potted plants. Don’t waste your money on these items here.
