KABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News

I don’t watch the ABC local news but a family member does and I’ve occasionally endured it while eating. *ALL* tv news anchors are required to be actors to a greater or lesser extent but it just seems to me that John Gregory is so OBVIOUSLY phony that I find his fake persona to be grating. He just tries too hard to lead the «happy news» parade. Christina Salvo, frankly, all too often seems to be a bimbo based on her inane comments, frequent misstatements and mispronunciations (the latter seem to have decreased recently, fortunately.) Example: After a report today about the Zika Virus outbreak, Gregory very inappropriately joked about researchers creating «mutant giant mosquitos» in labs to counter the virus … followed by Salvo saying, «it would be great [to have such mosquitoes] if it would help!» Cheesh.
In another incident a couple of years ago, I remember Marc Brown (who I find annoying, if not a bit a bit of a smart*** and racist) literally almost laughing after saying the last name (Winklevoss) of the two guys who’d originally developed Facebook — talk about unprofessionalism! (By the way, as I agree with the English saying «turnabout is fair play,» there’s a widely-​seen graphic online showing Brown himself reporting on a serial rapist as a police artist’s sketch of the suspect is shown behind him — and the sketch looks EXACTLY like Brown himself!)
One of the few on-​air personalities I like on the local ABC news team now that Garth Kemp is gone (how’d that happen?) are Elex Michaelson and Darsha Phillips, both of whom seem very professional and are, in contrast to several of the others (can you say «Danny Romero?), enjoyable to watch report the news. I also like the new weather lady, I forget her name, who today wore a very nice white «toga-​like» (yet very form-​fitting) dress — and wore it well.

Local news and balanced reporting. Definitely the best weather and traffic information (after shopping around the other stations over the years, I prefer the straightforward approach without the silliness). The anchors keep things running smoothly.

So tired of the same b.s. of looking for a story I heard on the tv broadcast but not finding it at the online site. Tonight, they did a report of a small dog who was stolen from a guy’s backpack while he was loading his bags into an Über car to go back home out of state. He’s offered a reward for her safe return and won’t leave without her. The guy is heartbroken, as any of us who love our animals would be. I want to post his info and the dog’s photo to help him get her back but can’t. Shame on you ABC 7 Eyewitness News!

The fill the buses with toys, are not the same. Nobody want to see these women when Garth has ran with the baton for so long. Chanbel 7 is no longer my news site. Watching a better channel. Too much phonyness. Really? Foring somebody because of that stupid Kris Jenner. The are app talentless, and tome will prove it. They are getting older. Nobody cares about them.

I watch your news every night at 4 and 5. Tonight your ’”exclusive” coverage of a family mourning the loss of their father, without knowing, was just wrong. Who are you to tell a family that their dad is dead is just wrong. What their father did was wrong, what you did to expose a family without prior knowledge was inexcusible. Ever think of talking to a person, know a person, then roll your cameras… never again. try another channel…

Where is Garth Kemp? No explanation, that is so disrespectful to your viewers. He was such an asset to your news channel, loved to see him show so much love for the sheltered and homeless animals. He gave so much back to our community and this is how you treat him. Hope Garth much success in whatever and wherever he goes.

I have been watching Eyewitness new since Dr. George was on TV and that’s a very long time ago. Whatever the problem was the BIG and Powerful Disney should have stepped in and fixed the problem instead of letting Garth walk. No more big elf to stuff a bus or to find homes for all those lonely pets. I feel sorry for the guy who will step in to try to replace him for the stuff a bus campaign he got BIG shoes to fill. I know Garth will land somewhere. I know there is a lot of people who miss him already. Too bad Mickey and his friends let him go. I will be watching my news elsewhere.

I’ve never particularly been an Eyewitness News fan, I was more a KNBC person. I wasn’t really a Garth Kemp fan either. But the guy pitched pet adoption and filled buses with toys and showed real enthusiasm and sincere dedication to those causes, so he gets a thumbs up from me for that.
I’m giving three stars because ALL local news is awful. There isn’t any journalism there. Stories are clipped, often misread, and too often, things are stated as fact that are just «old spouse’s tales». For instance, often when discussing earthquakes, someone will say they were going to stand under a doorway, and that is outdated advice.

Did you let Garth Kemp go? If so, bad decision, you’re idiots. You treat your viewers like crap and don’t even think enough of us to keep us informed. If that Novak (weather person) guy is his replacement, THAT’S A BIG MISTAKE. He’s a boring twit with a squeaky voice. Can’t stand to even listen to him report the news with that voice. He tries to be so cute, and he’s not. You are slowing becoming the worse news channel. Who is going to replace Garth at Christmas when he plays the elf? That right there was way beyond his call of duty. No one can live up to that. While airing my opinion, I’ve noticed Philip Palmer is absent a lot. Are you going to give him the axe also. That would be another big mistake. Disney is making a lot of bad decisions and are going to lose viewers.

I am a Garth Kemp fan for sure. Why was he let go after 17years of service? I think that the viewers are entitled to have a answer. Did he leave of his own accord or was he asked to leave.

Oh the BREAKING NEWS thing!!! omg okay Breaking news now were going to a commercial bull crap sooooo tired of that phrase.
Have been looking at other news but now I am gone ! This station is no longer cool has not been for awhile. Now for sure they are not !

They used to be my favorite news website. Now they are the worst in the world! !! I mean really? is the station not generating enough revenue without slamming us with not one but 2 adds on a page. Then a 3^rd if you want to check a video on the story. Then after enduring the painful wait for it to finish. The ad still picture stays on the screen. You can hear the audio of the video. But not the picture.
Poking my eye with a hot poker is more fun than trying to read news on their site!!!
ABC straighten out your technical problems. And drop the ads

We are leaving ABC7 news.
I just can’t take the ridiculous banter between Philip and Leslie in the mornings anymore we will be trying other news channels looking for someone who’s actually interested in giving the news and not screeching and goofing off with one another.
It’s too bad really, we have been loyal viewers for many many years but the constant ridiculous joking between Leslie and Philip is not news. They tend to go down rabbit holes and nobody cares to bring them back to giving the news to the viewers. People don’t wake up in the morning and turn on the news to be a viewer of a personal conversation and internal joking, we turn on the news to see valid and accurate details of what’s happening locally.
Professionalism is what needs to be inserted in this news broadcast. Philip and Leslie should watch good morning America; they will see that while the journalists insert their personalities they are quickly brought back to center by George and the news broadcast continues. That is an excellent example of what a good news broadcast is like.
I do not recommend this is program for viewers who are interested in finding out what’s going on in the community in the mornings.

If I hear Danny Romero go on about the «gorgeous» california weather one more minute, while we are in the midst of an epic drought, I will vomit. Governor Brown is putting in a 25% water restriction, farmers are losing their crops, the place is on its way to becoming a dust bowl, and this idiot is prancing around on my screen bragging about how we don’t have any rain here. Seriously? Is he really that clueless?

Okay Dallas… Is it Santana or is it Santa Anna because you change the word constantly through out your newscast… In fact we have a drinking game on whether it’s Santana or Santa Anna depending on what you’re going to say at any given moment. So which is it… Could you please explain on air what you’re talking about?
And George P. tonight you just said that one of the Academy Award nominees is heading back to Broadway to perform her role as Sally Bowles in Chicago… Just a reminder… Sally Bowles is in The musical Cabaret.

A lot of the reviews are based on their opinion of the news channel, but not of the actual station itself. So… insight time. As an intern who has been here a couple of months, the people I have worked with are extremely genuine and hardworking– I see the news department on the first floor up and about all hours of the day, and it is crazy down there ²⁴⁄₇. The amount of traffic they hold is amazing– and I’m so glad I’m not in news! There are many other departments here– finance, sales, news, public affairs, engineering, and more.
The studio itself is massive and beautiful; the CEO said that back in the day, KABC7 used to be scattered several blocks around Glendale, and it was a giant struggle going back and forth to everyone. The buildings were run down and had bugs around the wall, so I am super glad to be working in this beautiful building. The studio does give tours to people who are interested in the news industry or want to learn more. They also have two giant studio spaces– one that can be rented out for events.
Overall, I’m glad I got to spend a few months here– I’ve learned so much and I’ve met so many great people here. We do try our best to answer all the questions and concerns people may have, so try not to get angry and go off on a rant at us! I’ve had to sit through a few of that. and let me tell you– that was not fun. Thanks KABC7 for a great few months!

News programs like this are the reason so many ignorant people know just enough to make the wrong decision at the polling booth. If you want the news and you live in our around L.A. listen to KFI 640am.

I hate the way they all think they are funny cracking lame jokes. I also hate all the banter between each other. Get a clue you dip shits no one is watching you for you lame ass humor or to listen to you talk to each other. Just do the news in a serious manner and STFU. I only gave you 1 star because I had to, you do not deserve it.

Update: I just found out Garth Kemp is no longer working for KABC and I was SHOCKED! ABC, shame on yourselves, you couldn’t have picked a more sensitive, caring, humanitarian to part ways with. So what he made a comment about West and Kardashian, he’s right, he has no talent, West is dog poo poo. He doesn’t have any talent. How can you fire a guy that fills buses with toys for underprivileged children, goes to bat for people in need, and goes above and beyond the call for «public service». Come on, the guys worked there for 17 years, even IF he was wrong in his comment, don’t fire the guy, what’s the matter with you people, is that ALL you care about, your high power cookie cutter jobs and God forbid someone says 1 thing out of line, we’re all human, not the corporate robots you would conceive us to be Disney! Just to let you people in on something that happened to me when I met Garth at a Stuff a Bus toy raiser a couple of years ago, I didn’t really have the money as I am on a fixed income with my girlfriend, I gave Garth 2 20 dollar bills and told him, «you know we really can’t afford $ 40, but we realize other people are in need of the money more than us» to Garth and you know what he told us, «you know what, take one $ 20 bill back, I can see you need it too, we’ll just take one $ 20, that’s fine» For all of you who knew Garth off camera, he was more than just a weatherman, he was a kind caring gentlemen. Now I have no where to go during the Spark of Love Stuff a Bus toy drive. GARTH, COME BACK, WE MISS YOU :-(
I have mixed reviews about this station. Garth Kemp use to work at a station where I lived in NY around my neighborhood (the station at. 103.5 that uplinked the show «Rockline» where people use to call in and request songs). He’s THE man when it comes to weather. Professional, yet personal and not «in your face» weathercasting and makes the weather interesting and not boring. Makes his viewers feel welcome at all times. When I watch the news, I feel I’m part of their family. ABC in itself is the branded «sugar coated» company. Being owned by Disney most all programming 90% or more is «candy cane» safe, «except Kimmel, of course». The problem is their sponsors. 7 out of 10 commercials is a car commercial, not only that, but they insult your intelligence. I see the same commercials sometimes as many as 10 times a day! Between that and the pharmaceutical commercials I’ve practically worn out my mute button! Rubber stamped commercials, and shows like «The Goldberg’s» make me ashamed to be Jewish and keep me from watching ABC more than just the news most of the time.
All I have to say is thank heaven we have cable!

KABC is located at 500 circle seven dr, Glendale, CA. The speed limit beyond the guard gate is 10mph. If your entering on a bicycle, be sure not to be standing on the handlebars and as a reminder, wear your safety helmet.
