It’s pretty bad when you never set foot in the place and you have to write a bad review. But looks like it happened to others as well!
I was very excited about finding Dr. Summers– it seemed like a good match for my husband and we waited a month for the appointment, only to have a series of mishaps cause it to be canceled. They don’t confirm your insurance info until the last minute, and apparently they had dropped our insurance in that month we had waited for the appointment. They also had tried to confirm the appointment via phone while we were out of range and canceled the appointment because they didn’t hear back in 24 hours, a week before the appointment. Sure, part of that is on us for being out of range, but the system just reeks of unprofessionalism. They tried to switch us to another doctor, which seems to be their way. Not to mention how awful the office people were to us as we tried to straighten all of this out. I have now complained to my insurance as well as other formal ways and I would advise anyone considering them to stay away!!!

I tried to see one psychiatrist here and they referred me to another. The staff was actually nice to me. The problem was that the first thing the psychiatrist gave me made me sick and didn’t work. Then he asked me to stop taking everything that did work so that I would qualify for a clinical trial he was doing for an antidepressent. I did not come to him for depression. When I asked what the benefit to my PTSD would be, he told me it would be a favor to him because it means more gant money. I don’t remember me owing that guy any fucking favors, so that was the last time I went. After no-​showing on the next appointment, rather than see if the antidepressents he put me on (which have an increased risk of suicide as a side effect) caused me to jump off a bridge, they sent me a bill for a missed appointment. That’s all. The fact that no one cared that I didn’t show up other than to bill me after putting me on drugs that increase suicidal thoughts was the last confirmation I needed. No thank you. Great ukranian candy in the front office though, grab as much as you can.

This is not a review of the doctors, at least mine in particular, who I like just fine, but of the staff. The women manning the front desk can’t be bothered to get off their cell phones to answer a question. They are also very unprofessional when it comes to billing — it’s unbelievable that a medical practice can thrive under such ineptitude. If you have a question about their billing practices, which are strange to say the least, they’re rude and short. In the past, if you were unsure of your co-​pay, they demand you pay the full amount upfront, because «your insurance will reimburse you». I was several times asked to pay in cash instead of using my Health Savings debit card, which meant the hassle of filing claims for reimbursement (and defeats the point of the card). After one appointment I was actually handed a HAND-​WRITTEN receipt. Are you kidding me?! And twice now, they have submitted the wrong code to my insurance company so that I was over-​billed, most recently $ 400 for a $ 100 office visit. I have refused to pay it until they resubmit the claim with the correct coding and they are threatening to send it to collections.
I don’t know if it’s just plain negligence or a bald attempt to defraud insurance companies, but I’m not sure it’s worth sticking with my doc when a 15-​minute appointment almost always results in a drawn out and painful interaction with these harpies.
