iComputer

James is certainly just as talented and smart as everybody here says he is. Energetic too, and a hard-​nosed business person in an industry full of flakes.
But all of iComputer’s fans should know the business has changed since the old days — significantly. Used to be stores on Cherry Creek and on Santa Fe, which have both closed down. The latter was my favorite, a central location with coffee across the street, full of people able and willing to help in many ways from business administration to remote support. Even when they screwed up, there were enough people around to come up with a solution.
Now all that is gone. There’s just James in one smallish shop some blocks to the east of Colorado Boulevard. That’s it. He’s still a skilled and resourceful repair person, with good networks for finding parts. And I’m sure that lots of things lend themselves to that kind of service on a walk-​in basis.
There may not be a way to integrate that kind of a business with higher-​level system maintenance and reconfiguration. Syncing, for example, can involve Microsoft, Google, and Apple across many devices. Rooting out some kinds of problems takes frequent interaction with the tech over several hours. And even when it works at first, unanticipated problems can require a few minutes remote access.
All of this is what I liked about iComputer, that James cannot possibly do on his own. He seems to know it, and insists that you do business his way to make it happen, and do without your computer for days so he can work in the walk-​in business too. Makes sense. Plus the gnarly location, this is not the iComputer we knew and loved.

Great fast service at a reasonable price. They replaced my hard drive when it crashed and had it back the next day. I also was having trouble with my track pad (a different time) and they cleaned it instead of replacing it and it now works great. Honest and won’t over service just to make an extra buck. When I went to the apple store in the past, they sent it out for 5 days to replace a battery, seriously??? I didn’t know better but now I will now go to icomputer as I trust them with all of my macbook computer needs. I have also bought accessories here at a more reasonable price than the apple store.

IComputer exceeded my expectations when I took my Mac in for repair.
The computer had frozen up and would not re-​start. I knew my mechanical hard drive was failing, and now it had died.
James at IComputer quickly diagnosed the problem… offered to install a replacement Solid State Drive (SSD) at a very reasonable price… somehow handled the data migration from the old drive… and had the computer back in my hands in a few hours working like new.
A few words to describe my experience – James was friendly, efficient, very knowledgeable, reasonably priced, straightforward and honest.
UPDATE… I had another serious issue with my Mac today. Needed fast service to meet a work deadline. James once again was terrific to work with. He is patient and efficient. Small shop… big service!

I was receiving a «Service Battery» message on my 13″ Macbook Air which I’ve had for around 3 years. I went to the Cherry Creek Apple Store and the techs told me I just needed a new battery. However, they wanted to mail it out for five days to merely replace a battery. Not ideal. James had it done in 10 – 15 minutes for $ 30 less than the Apple Store. Will be back.

James replaced my broken laptop DC (power) jack in just 1 day. He also fixed a broken hinge for no extra charge and got the case to actually stay screwed in. All of this for the price of the DC jack. I’m very pleased and will definitely use them again.

Got a new laptop and got my old one working! Got my data recovered and transferred. Saved!

These guys replaced my buddies screen quickly and we’re affordable. While we were talking to them they fixed my headphone jack for free on my phone. Would highly recommend for phones.

Great service. They took my works imac mini at the last minute and had it ready by the next today. i will definitely use them again.

I love these guys! They really helped me out with fixing my Macbook Air. I took it in originally because the keyboard and trackpad stopped working. It had a dead battery and had to always be plugged into the wall, but this was a new problem and meant I couldn’t use it anymore at all, so I brought it in to be fixed. I didn’t spill anything on it or do anything to it, so I didn’t have any idea why it stopped responding. I didn’t take it in for a few months because I was broke, so I also had forgotten my login password and needed it to be reset.
It turned out that the dead battery had swelled up inside the case for various science reasons which were explained to me but I forgot. Anyway, apparently the battery is right underneath the keyboard and trackpad sensors or something and it was pressing against them and that’s why they stopped working… iComputer replaced the battery for me with a new one that they had to order, and also reset the password to one I asked them to change it to. When I got it back it was working exactly like it did before the battery died! I was very pleased. Everyone I spoke to was really nice and polite, and even though I had to wait for them to get a part, it didn’t seem like it took a long time to do the fix. Communication was okay, they called to let me know about the diagnosis and the delay because of ordering the part. Generally speaking I had a great experience with them and if anything else goes wrong I’ll definitely come back and ask them to take a look! I also noticed they sell used Macs, and the prices seemed pretty good… my Air is getting kind of old, so I might go and see if I can trade it in for some credit towards a newer one.
Warning, it can be kind of hard to park around this area (it’s on a major street) at certain times of day.

I got my computer here over a year ago and it still runs like brand new. If something ever acts funny, they are always a huge help and actually show me what the issue is. Very nice staff that knows what theyre doing and they always go above and beyond. A++++

I have brought my computer in here multiple times for small problems and they have always been able to find the problem and fix it right away. It’s nice knowing there’s a reliable neighborhood computer store that I can go to instead of the Apple store.

If you have to hide behind walls, you probably don’t run an outstanding business.
I was told that if i ‘committed to sell’ my computer, i was going to get an offer of cash value or trade in. I kind of did not like this idea initially, but was in need of a resolution to my problem and didn’t want to pay a diagnostic fee when I already knew my fans were failing, the battery was completely dead and the hard-​drive was also probably failing. The next day I was told that my MacBook Pro not something they wanted to buy or use for a trade in and to come pick it up.
–but here’s the catch, they offer $ 50 off a ‘new’ secondhand computer, $ 100 if i pay cash. If someone offers you twice as much for cash, somethings not right. I get it, credit card companies charge processing fees and maybe pay at certain times, but that’s a little much, or too good to be true as I thought. I act interested in the cheapest machine they have, priced at $ 500. Ive got $ 400 in cash in my pocket, and need something so it was an easy sell; until they wanted to keep my computer and confused me, so I walked out.
If you don’t want to take my computer in on a trade or buy my computer, what do you call giving me $ 50 or $ 100 off and keeping it?

Took my computer to them in December ’14. iComputer’s tech were great at helping troubleshoot my PC issues, recommending a new configuration, and upgrades on hardware. They told me upfront they would contact me after their diagnosis and before they did any actions that would incur further billing such as replacing parts. Their tech called me several times to keep me updated and waited for the go ahead before replacing parts. Highly recommend if your Apple or Windows based PC is having issues.

These guys are awesome! They gave me a great deal on a new battery, cleared up some issues I was having with my computer and were super friendly :) it’s my new computer store!

Chick with the tats was very helpful and seemed knowledgeable about what had gone awry.

This place is joke. Period.
Back in June I took my computer in for a simple clean up. At the time my computer was running fine, just had some extra cash to put towards my Mac. After two days of them working I finally get a call back. I drive down to the store to find out they upgraded the software which I was happy about. But cost me $ 129.
Not even a week later my MacBook Pro crashed. Not knowing the problem I took it back down to the store. Chad, the store manager, told me I now needed a bigger hard drive. Was it because they knowingly downloaded software to big for my current hard drive? I don’t know… $ 300 later I have a hard drive TO BIG to screw back into the bottom of my now shaky/​uneven laptop.
Since then my Mac hasn’t run the same. Always having some technical difficulties thanks to these jokes.
If I could rate them zero stars id do it with a smile. I would rather flush $ 400 down the toilet before ever retuning.

I gave these guys only one star simply because I came in for a diagnostic on my MacBook Pro and was immediately told I needed a new hard drive for $ 299.00 and not to waste my time and money on a diagnostic for $ 49.00.
So,
I went two blocks south to a competitor who was able to get my computer up and going in two hrs for on $ 40.00.
Again simply because they were absolutely no help to me, other than suggesting a better drive, I gave one star.
Needless to say I’ll have the competitor install a new drive if and when I’m ready to.

THIS PLACE TOOK ME (and my money) FOR GRANTED.
Maybe I should be ashamed of myself for knowing so little about computers and having so much trust. Here’s what happened:
I spilled liquid on the keyboard of my Macbook (probably less then like 30 mL, but right on the keyboard…) which I was assured would probably be a quick fix, no more than the standard $ 200 fee, ended up costing me just under $ 500 AND THAT ISN’T THE WORST PART.
Originally I thought the worst part was the $ 500, then it was the fact that I DIDN’T GET MY COMPUTER BACK FOR OVER A MONTH, Then it was the fact that IT ONLY GOT WORSE.
When I was finally notified I may pick my computer up and was assured it was in perfect working order, I was so relieved. I was wrong to feel that way.
When I first opened it up and got it going, only to find the middle 8 keys are the only ones still lit, I thought, yeah, that makes sense.
Soon enough I realized the back of the screen was falling off. The track pad was behaving erratically, no longer trustworthy. I took it back in and WAS ACCUSED OF MISHANDLING MY OWN COMPUTER.
I originally came in because of a minor spill, my own fault. Suddenly these guys are trying to blame me for whatever they want?! It hurt my feelings, honestly, and left a bad taste in my mouth. When people get so defensive, its hard to trust them. I feel bad for them, like who hurt you? But I’d rather not trust them with projects like this.
They did repair the track pad for free. Thanks guys. It still doesn’t work right.
Anyway, I’m writing this because I put a cd into the disk drive for the first time this week…
I was dismayed, but not surprised, I guess at this point, to find that it cannot be ejected. So every time I open my computer and that irritatingly loud whirring and clicking starts from that disk that will forever live inside my computer starts up, I am reminded how important it is to NEVER GO TO ICOMPUTER FOR HELP, because they cannot help you. If you’re anything like me, they may even hurt you. Not on purpose, but a little bit because they can.

This review is for a while back. My screen was all jacked up on my toshiba so I took it in. They told me up front that there was a fifty dollar diagnostic fee or whatever – no problem. Basically it took them several days to figure out what was wrong with it, they quoted me a price for the repair and it was too much so I decided to just get a new computer. I knew I wasn’t getting the fifty bucks back, which was a bummer, but fair.
So far no complaints.
When I went to pick up my jacked computer, however, some guy who seemed like a manager or something said that when I get the new computer to bring it by and they’ll do the data transfer for me, since I’d already paid the fifty dollars. I thought that was cool of him, so I did. I left the new computer, making sure they remembered me from before, although when I came back to pick it up the guy ringing me up went into the back, grabbed the one who’d originally offered to do the transfer, at which point he awkwardly explained that the transfer would be $ 50 (I think that was the price. Like I said, I’m a little foggy on the numbers bc this was almost a year ago).
Anyway, mostly a communication issue, I think. Although I am curious why the guy ringing me up, assuming they’d forgotten the offer to do my data transfer, had to get the manager in order to tell me it was fifty dollars. That part made it feel kind of like they’d just changed their minds.
Two stars because, throughout, everyone was pretty polite.

My apple password is f*ckapple. I made that at the apple store on a frustrating day prior to learning of icomputer. They are fantastically knowledgable, helpful, and good looking.
Wayyyyyy better experience than the apple store. Do you have an appointment?
They sell and service new and used computers. I got a great deal on a used Macbook Pro in excellent condition.
Now, I think I’ll change my password to iloveicomputer.
