History

Established in 1997.

I-​Stay U-​Go Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Services was founded by Hilma Shahinian in 1997 as a small one-​person operation.

Hilma saw her company grow into a full-​time occupation as clients realized that her experience as a California State humane officer and a professionally trained veterinary technician translated into uncompromising care for their pets.

Currently, with a total of 24 years of experience in her field, Hilma runs both a pet care business and a full service grooming salon (opened in February 2011) to not only provide quality pet services but to be a source for valuable pet care information for her clients.

I-​Stay U-​Go Grooming and Pet Care Services provides professional, loving care for all clients, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, and reptiles. Our services include dog and cat baths, grooming, pet sitting, dog walking, overnight care, prescribed veterinary treatments, dog training and much more. We cater to you and your specific needs.

Business Owner

Hilma started her pet care career as a California State Humane Officer. After many years of working with stray and wild animals, she decided to enter the field of veterinary medicine and attended Bel-​Rea School of Veterinary Technology in Denver, CO. She applied her knowledge in a regular practice and in several pet emergency hospitals. Clients soon realized her value and from there, I-​Stay U-​Go was born. Her commitment to providing excellent pet care has resulted in the growth of her business to a store front. Her motto is not only providing service, but to provide clients with a wealth of knowledge regarding their beloved pets. Ask a question and you will get more than the answer you were expecting.

I discovered I-​Stay U-​Go more then 13 years ago. They had a storefront up on N. Verdugo Road at the time. I was traveling a lot of business and had two adult cats who needed attention while I was gone. Hilma took excellent care of them! Then I moved from a condo in to a home. My nephew came to live with me so I had a built in pet sitter for a while. Over time, both of my adult cats died but I wasn’t cat-​less for long and now have two boys. So, when I had to go out of town, I called up Hilma and she sent me Tammy who came and took excellent care of my boys while I was on my trip.

I cannot stress how thankful I was to be a customer of I-​Stay-​U-​Go. Before this place opened, we would take our dog to numerous places like Petco and the petstore on Glenoaks and both very unsatisfying. Once ISUG was open, we tried it and would never second guess going. Hilma is amazing and her staff are practically dog-​whisperers. My pup was always looking great and the prices are definitely worth the service. This place is so trustworthy and so caring, I always have and always will recommend it to everyone. My dog had been allergic to certain shampoos and Hilma had always used the right one to keep him from itching. Up until my dog got a brain tumor and passed away, Hilma was our go-​to person, and once she found out she sent us a card and flowers which were extremely generous.
Once we bring our next pet we will definitely be back,

I saw the reviews on Unilocal and checked it out because I live two blocks away. Hilma was so down to earth and genuine. It’s small but cute and clean. I have a five month old pug and to my surprise, Hilma has a pug as well so she gave me great advice and took care of him. He smelled and looked great! This is now my go-​to groomers. Definitely needed a place like this in the neighborhood.

Professional and friendly service! Hilma is very knowledgeable and makes me feel comfortable to leave my little one in her hands. I’ve taken him twice and he comes out looking so handsome! I’m one that researches before I take my boy anywhere and I’ve always been against those corporate chains because they don’t take their time. Incredible service. They really take care of my puppy with lots of love. I get him groomed here regularly and they always do a great job. I also have Tammy stop by the house to feed my puppy and take him out when I’ve got a long day planned at work.

I took my cat here to be groomed for the first time. I was a little nervous since it was his first time although he is very well behaved. In about an hour he was done and looked cute as button with his lions hair cut. She forgot to put his collar back on so she kindly dropped it off at my house. I will definitely be back!

We used this place for two different services when we lived in Glendale. One was grooming for our Australian Shepherd and the other was for petsitting & walking. This review is mainly for the petsitting & dog walking because we decided that was the best service they provided us.
Just a quick note on grooming — They only lost one star because the grooming wasn’t entirely up to our standards. After our grooming visit, our dog experienced some temporary skin irritation on her back — possibly from dryer burns, hard brushing or just an allergic reaction to a shampoo used. Also, her hindquarters were clipped awkwardly, although that one may have been my fault for being unspecific in my request.
Our dog and cat seemed like they were well taken care of on all the occasions we left them in this company’s care. It was clear that our dog loved them. Our cat is sort of a snob, so who knows what he’s thinking, but he did seem as content as usual when we got home.
Tammy was our main sitter/​walker there and our normally shy dog adored her & her little dog. Sometimes we’d run into them in the neighborhood and Star would get super excited to say hello. That says a lot!
Also, the company was great about communication, before-​during-​after, provided easy billing, set up easy key exchanges and they were always pleasant & gracious. It was also nice that our home was always clean when we got home and everything was in its proper place.
We recommend their petsitting & dogwalking services to others in Glendale. And we wish we didn’t live so far away now so we could keep using them!

My little prince and princess love this place. My dogs have been groomed here since it opened and I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Its clean and friendly, plus my dogs don’t get the nervous shakes when we walk in here. They are at ease and comfortable, and are treated well.

I’ve come here a couple of times & I’ve loved it. I drive down to Glendale from USC! But, I went last week my dog had lots of knots. Takin that into consideration I was charged $ 5 extra dollars on top of the usual $ 40… That’s not what I’m complaining about. Later that day I found 2 cuts on my baby! I was NOT told he got these cuts from grooming. It would have been nice to have been told. The cuts did get worse & now vet bills have to be paid. I won’t be going here anymore & I just wanted to let you know to check your dogs before you pick them up. I thought I could trust them because I had been there before but I guess they got lazy.

I can’t say enough good things about I-​Stay U-​Go! Hilma is super friendly, professional, knowledgable and has a sincere passion for animals which is very evident from the way she treated my puppy. At one point, my puppy, Molly was licking Hilma while she was getting groomed, for her first time there no less! I couldn’t be happier with the service. I love that my puppy didn’t have to wait in a holding area with a bunch of other dogs waiting for their turn like other places. Hilma was also kind enough to give me some tips on how to care for Molly’s fur and ears as I’m a first-​time owner. Molly and I will definitely be returning!!! Oh, and the place is totally adorable!

I’m glad that this place is finally starting to ramp up its social media and getting some good reviews, because they do a really great job. To be fair, it is a bit more expensive than going to a larger groomer, but your little pup gets one-​on-​one attention here. They usually only have one, at most, two dogs at a time, so I think it stresses my guy out a little less.
Hilma, the owner and groomer used to be a vet tech so she knows her way around dogs. She expressed my dogs glands from the inside, the way they do at the vet (for an extra fee), and my little guy stopped scooting and didn’t seem bothered at all or irritated by the process.
Grooming was top-​notch, he came out looking and smelling great, but most importantly, he didn’t have any nicks or scratches which are, unfortunately, very common occurrences at pretty much all of the other groomers that I’ve tried.
Takeaway: I Stay U Go is a great local groomer. Prices are a little high, but you know that your dog gets treated with a gentle hand and isn’t stuck in a cage waiting for hours for his turn. Fido still doesn’t like going to the groomer, but at least I can have some peace of mind knowing that he will be treated with care, and turnaround is pretty quick. Picked up my dog in about an 1.5 hours if memory serves.
