Custom Color and Art

I was struggling with the replacement/​rebuild of the very steep and prominent roof on my little 1924 french cottage. Nathalie took the pain out of the process and made it fun.
She picked a charcoal gray high definition shingle for the roof and encouraged me to keep the period eyes-​brows, explaining how they broke-​up the large expanse of the roof and how the curves matched the curve over the door and was welcoming to visitors. Using the crumbling remains, new eyes-​brows in metal were custom made, receiving 4 coats of a grey metal paint Nathalie picked to go with the shingle color. Love them!
After the roof was done she looked to freshen the house colors tying the new roof and property all together. The warm green/​grey base color of the house with white trim Nathalie liked, feeling it was a good neutral. The shutters and door color is where she then focused starting with the shutters. I was so glad that first she wanted me to see with and without shutter pictures, opening my eyes to new possibilities and answering that stay or go question I’d always had about them, definitely staying and she agreed.
She choose a rich charcoal gray, twilight black (BM), for the shutters, it is perfect. Played first with a fun yellow which I liked, but the richer color felt like it belonged with the new roof.
Last was the door, red, Historic Red (BM). Makes me smile every day.

Nathalie helped me make my little cottage apartment into a magnificent home. She understood when I told her that I was only here a year, yet I wanted the home to be very comfortable. She found inexpensive ways to give the apartment a personality. Here are some of the reasons that you, too, should consider Nathalie to assist you with your home.
1. She listens. Having worked with loads of ‘decorators’ in my life, I realize that this is a rarity. The home reflects my personality rather than a template home that is the thumbnail of many designers.
2. I purchased one of her pieces of art, and wanted a bit of twist to it. I wanted something like a light-​box behind it so that the light really pushed through the art. She was all for it! She took the ball and ran. Should found the resources and made it happen (even added little ‘extra’s’ (for ~ $ 30) like a dimmer switch for the LED’s behind it.
3. I had several installers for the yard and house. Some of the installers could get ‘gruffy’. Nathalie handled them with charm and kindness (yet did not back down on what we wanted).
4. She makes the experience FUN!

I bought two original prints from Nathalie for my new condo. They’re beautiful manipulations of tree barks with lovely colors that range from orange to purple. They add a lot of pizzaz to a big blank wall.
Nathalie’s prices are reasonable, she’s professional and easy to work with. I recommend her for any interior project you’re considering tackling. She’s the best!

I commissioned Custom Color and Art to create a unique portrait of our 5 year old son. We did not want the traditional type of wall hanging. We wanted an original piece of art with our son as the subject. My jaw dropped by how amazing this portrait turned out. It was hip, fresh, contemporary, and at the same time very sentimental. Every time someone walks in our craftsman home it is the topic of conversation. I loved it so much, I had another copy made for my parents. It was the perfect Christmas gift!

I am practically illiterate when it comes to picking paint colors, and I really needed help when I decided to repaint the interior of my condo… So glad I found Nathalie! She had a fantastic eye for what would look beautiful in our place with the existing light, flooring and décor, and she really listened to what my husband and I had to say about our preferences. After her consultation I felt confident and excited about moving forward with the plan we created. Nathalie is also extremely personable, and I found her rates to be very reasonable.
