Extremely shady business tactic and website design.
When googling «nonprofit credit counseling» they come up as one of the top results with the description as «ClearPoint Credit Counseling is a national, nonprofit agency offering free consumer credit counseling, student loan counseling, budgeting help, mortgage …» but once you are on their site there is no nonprofit to be found. Go ahead, use their own search engine to look. Also there is a misleading link that states, «Want Help with Your Credit? A free budget and credit counseling session could be the answer.» This is an outright lie. You click the link, sign up, and are contacted by one of their representatives who sends you documents to sign. In these documents you agree to pay various amounts on certain dates, all before even speaking with anyone. And if you actually read through the documents, you learn that they are a DBA and actually are acting as a liaison for credit collection.
