ok so Im actually TYLER (im not sure his last name) changed my entire experience here, i had to get blood work and i have very small veins which i told ththe guy who initially came in. he barely said two words and stabbing away literally 9 times in my hands and
was so painful he had no regard that he was hurting me just focused on a vein probably MY WORST HEALTH CARE SPECIALIST INTERACTION EVER. this guy i tell u was rude just talking about how irritated he was in front of me to other staff. OKAY NOW FOR THE GOOD he finally asked for help and thats when TYLER CAME IN very pleasant attitude, conversational, altogether Professional, walked me through each step granted he had to poke me a few time as well it was much more pleasant, reassuring and most importantly he asked my PERMISSION AT EVERY STEP. Well I’m not sure who will see this but I received exceptional service from him.

BF had appendicitis and was transferred by ambulance from emergency room of heart hospital to Arrowhead for surgery — we were in a room for two hours before he saw doctor which means he had no pain mess and a raging fever. I had to ask for ice for his head to bring fever down. Thankfully we got transferred to a single room so I can stay night.
In waiting room now and patient progress tracker not working.
Thankfully this isn’t a life or death situation — but I’m not a fan of this place. Once you’ve been to Scottsdale Healthcare you won’t want to go anywhere else.

Two calls to the hospital for my test results and I still haven’t gotten them. Got the bill and was charged for the entire IV fluid bag when maybe 10% of it was used. In the process of scheduling a surgery despite this hospital not finding any problems. Hummmm… never again will I go here.

I never write reviews but I had to on Arrowhead and share my story because NO ONE else should EVER have to go through what I went through. Arrowhead is AWFUL! I delivered my son there in January and 7 hours later they realized THE EPIDURAL NEEDLES WERE STILL IN MY BACK!!! They said, «Oh, labor and delivery should have taken those out after your c-​section.» I had an infection during labor so my son was in the NICU and they would not let me see my son until 7 hours after he was born. At first it was that I could see him when I had feeling back in my legs, then it changed to well we are switching nurses so we need to wait for that. Then it was well we need to change your antibiotics. Then it was well you need 4 vitals before you can go. The head NICU nurse tells me, a first time mother, «your son is the 1 in 10 babies that scare us.» That is NOT something you tell a new mother and makes me feel like you don’t know what you are doing. They didn’t send my placenta out for testing. Our son stopped breathing and anytime the alarm went off WE HAD TO GO DOWN THE HALL TO FIND A NURSE! That is UNACCEPTABLE! Later we witnessed our son having a seizure and HAD TO FIND THE NURSE to ask what was happening. That was the FIRST time it was documented in the paperwork we reviewed. It made me wonder if he had them before but it wasn’t noticed because there wasn’t a nurse around to see it.
They ended up transferring him to the county hospital without consulting with me first about which hospital I wanted my son to go to. First they were going to transfer him to Phoenix Children’s hospital but then changed it at the last minute because the doctor they were talking to was at county. That’s not a good enough reason. They were ill equipped and couldn’t do anything for my son. He was transferred so they could do an MRI and other tests that he could not get done at Arrowhead. I would not recommend Arrowhead to anyone. They were so unorganized and not prepared. They were not professional. My son was finally transferred to Phoenix Children’s Hospital where he later died. I will always wonder if something happened at Arrowhead to where he would be here right now if something was done differently. I will never go to Arrowhead again.

ER is not trustworthy Doctors are annoyed and uninterested in assisting or really helping patients unless someone has had trauma and is obviously fighting to stay alive in a way that is clearly visible… Paperwork is never accurate or kept up and is often the patients responsibility to advocate and clarify constant mistakes and errors… Its about time we where able to trust our doctors with our lives again instead of fearing for it… If you have had a bad experience at this hospital ER or any hospital for that matter it really needs to be reported… especially in the state of Arizona where the healthcare system is in crisis and lagging so severely its a disgrace… Certain patients are treated better than others and people are therefore LABELED for future visits which is very WRONG in this profession to do regardless of a personal opinion Doctors who do this and participate should no longer work in healthcare because they have forgotten what they started for… To serve and help People not just A select group. To any who are reading this who agree and have or have had issues please keep this website at your ready
To keep the healthcare system Safe and efficient its our JOB to report these things instead of just complaining about them with no action please use this portal to report problems share this with family and friends so we may make Arizona a better SAFER place to be able to receive medical care if god forbid you need to…

We had exceptionally good service here when my wife had a recent stay for a few days. She was transported from one of their mini-​ER locations, and it all went well. The nursing staff was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. It was rare that we had to ask for something, and everything we asked for, we got. They were often in the room asking if we needed anything.
The room was clean and in good condition. Very spacious too.
Nobody wants to be in a hospital, but if I had to be, I’d choose this place.

The ER was great I was seen within 10 minutes. Everyone was very nice and professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Kang was in the ER and very thorough with with asking me about my health and concerns. Then explained that after the test and MRI cane back I needed to be admitted fir a few days. I have never been admitted to this hospital before. But I do not think I will ever come back again to be admitted. They did not have me down for any meals. The nurse was very snappy. But some of the others were nice.
UPDATE: Chief Nurse Robin read my review and came into my room to discuss it with me. First I want to say it is so nice to see that companies really read what people write and take time to talk to them. Robin sat and listened to my concerns and reassured me that this was not typical nor acceptable of the hospital. Robin is a patient advocate and represents herself as a kind and caring person. Thank you for your immediate response.

Gave birth at this hospital and every nurse in the labor and delivery department was so friendly and caring. My baby was born 6 weeks early and the ladies in the special care nursery have been doing a wonderful job of taking care of him so he can come home with us soon. Very attentive and caring staff.

My husband received excellent care during an ER visit recently and we both have had great experiences having outpatient tests there. We highly recommend it! The nurses, physicians and volunteers are the best! (Full disclosure: I am an Abrazo Community Health Network employee. My comments are based on my personal experience with my husband’s care.)

Interesting experience. Never again. We went in to the ER area. We’re vacationing so we weren’t familiar with this hospital. Empty waiting room. Went to the front desk and asked for Urgent Care. Person at the desk gave us forms, took our $ 20.00 Urgent Care Co-​Pay. She was a little bit vacant, no indication they didn’t do Urgent Care there. Short wait we went into a Triage room and met with a PA. Pink Eye, fine we knew that but needed the prescription medication. That takes a visit to a Doc.
Month or two later we get a bill for an ER visit. Not Urgent Care, $ 250 C0-​Pay. Some hospitals do have Urgent Care and ER in the same location. Not this one. We didn’t dirty up any of their ER rooms, just a Triage room meeting with a desk. Still thinking it was an Urgent Care.
Final bill was $ 830.00 from the hospital and $ 310 from a MD we never did see. It was I’m sure for his PA. For a $ 1140 total bill you can get a prescription. They code it as OP ER/​Urgent??? I complained and the reasoning was «It happens frequently» How about fixing it? Post a sign or have your front desk person wake up and tell people it’s not an Urgent Care. Pretty simple but less profitable.

This place is a joke. They are way under staffed. The staff is just terrible when it comes to explanation and anyone working as a team. After being here 18 hours it is not clear the direction they are going or who is actually helping my wife.
I want to say like any company there is outstanding employees. Vincent ER RN was amazing and hope a real hospital like St. Jo’s offers him a job so he is not restrained to be a caring medical staff.
It is clear for a hospital in the elite part of Glendale Az is as crapy of a hospital as a third world country that charges fair prices not thousand of dollars of wasted money time and diagnostics.
So 19 hours no food, water, or direction of care .

For being exactly the same un organized place you were a few years ago.

My sister was admitted here Early Sunday morning and made her wait in the emergency room for two hours before they did anything while she was literally screaming in pain. Her whole stay here has just been full of all the nurses lagging. They gave her her meds over two hours late. They took almost 45 min. for her assigned nurse to arrive once we called her. None of the other unassigned nurses were helping us out. Me and my brother-​in-​law thought of the only two good things in this hospital; the ice (that is at the perfect level of frozen when I didn’t know there was such a thing), and the supervisor Al. We will definitely never be visiting this hospital again.

Have had a couple of instances where we needed to be here… things have always turned out ok for the random ER visit. I had an emergency gallbladder surgery here too.
For the visit that started with acute pancreatitis and turned into gallbladder removal surgery, the nurses were sweet. I was breastfeeding at the time and they provided a pump for me and a private room. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Arrowhead ER sucks. I have been sitting here 4 hours and being sent home and basically nothing. The PA Christina has no clue what she is doing. I will never come back to arrowhead again.

1÷12÷15 took my wife for a small procedure in Endoscopy. The first nurse she encountered was somewhat friendly. In comes the anthologiest, acting and talking like Lurch from the tv series Adams Family. Procedure did not take ten minutes. Out comes the Dr. I’ve had better conversations with a cold dish of oatmeal!
Needless to say never again will I step into that lousy place called a hospital!

The emergency room staff was fast and efficient. Yet they took the time to explain the heart and lung issuues clearly and more than once if needed. They made a good transition to the icu. I would come here again if God forbid we have another emergency.

I give this hospital no stars. If lil Jr. comes in to the ER with a mild cough and you show up 5 minutes later, in obvious pain and discomfort then guess what– you’re going to sit and suffer while the kid who could be treated at home with a slathering of Vick’s Vap-​O-​Rub is seen before you.
The billing department is also a shit show– set up a payment plan, pay on time and then be treated to multiple phone calls claiming they’re about to send your account to collections and shaking you down for the money.
The best that could happen to Arrowhead Hospital would be a total evacuation of all human, canine and feline life to a minimum safe distance, followed by an expert firebombing and razing.
It’s the North Korea of so-​called healthcare.

I had my knee surgery here back in January. That’s the only reason in giving this crap hospital 2 stars.
As I sit here in Arrowhead Hospital now. I realize I will never come back here again.
I came in the ER two days ago in excruciating pain. Everything was fine until I was admitted.
They had put me on an antibiotic that I think did more harm than good. Tonight I have to say I’ve got the worst nurse I’ve ever had. I waited almost an hour and a half for pain medication. Yes. It was due at 8pm. Didn’t get it til 9:30. Some computer problem. Ok. Understandable. But don’t ignore me. Explain it. I’m in pain. I don’t want to chase you for my medication. Do your job.
Gallbladder attack. They want to do test after test. If there’s nothing wrong. Quit trying to find something wrong. Cut me loose. I’m in an incredible amount of pain. I guess that is normal like the tests.
I’d rather go somewhere else and get a second opinion.

I came here in excruciating pain from passing a kidney stone. They were nice enough to give me a shot to remove the pain. But I left with more stones to pass and a prescription for IBUPROFEN & a very rude unsympathetic nurse who treated my like an addict when I requested something stronger so that I wouldn’t need to return for the same thing in the near future! Just another hospital giving just enough service to need to comeback again soon for more money! Stay away unless you are independently wealthy!

Compared to other places I’ve had surgery, the check-​in process here is a lot slower. When you’re about to have surgery, you get pretty anxious and just sitting there waiting doesn’t really help, especially when you don’t get called in until less than an hour before the surgery is to start.
As far as everything else goes, things went pretty smoothly — what I remember of it of course. The nurses were nice, and I felt like I was take care of. If I had a choice, I don’t think I’d come back here again but wouldn’t mind it either.
