History

Established in 1960.

Originally named Capital Pattern and Model Works, the company was founded by Richard Steffey in 1960.

In the mid 1980’s Capital Pattern started to implement its «turn-​key» approach by supplying customers with prototype patterns and prototype aluminum castings.

In 1990 Capital Pattern and Model Works was purchased by Douglas Steffey, son of Richard, and the name changed to Capital Pattern and Model, Inc. By then Capital Pattern had taken its operations to a new level by introducing significant advances in technology into its pattern-​making business. Capital Pattern was on the forefront by implementing CAD/​CAM and CNC machining into the pattern-​making process in 1991. Capital Pattern established a large prototype casting client base and continued to expand on our «turnkey» casting solution by aligning tooling with foundry and machining companies.

In 2012, Capital Pattern and Model, Inc. name was changed to more closely convey the scope of the business, CPM Industries.
