Stepping Stones Together empowers parents to teach their young children beginning literacy skills. Parents/​caregivers partner with their child to bond while using resources to teach them beginning reading, writing, and reading comprehension skills. The program uses 5 easy steps and one fun game to teach skills in just 15 minutes a day.

History

Established in 2010.

I am a parent of 3 children but also an educator with over 15 years of experience as an elementary teacher, principal, and professor. I searched for an easy to use program to teach my eldest daughter to read and came up with difficult/​boring and phonics based programs that did not develop an initial love of the reading process. I decided to develop a research based program designed for children to be successful with the reading process using brain research, best practices, and tested success with children. In just 6 weeks my non-​reader was reading at a second grade level.

Business Owner

I am a parent of 3, have been an educator for over 15 years, and am dedicated to closing the academic achievement gap starting with early literacy. I have a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s in Elementary Education, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Research. I have taught grades K-​3, been an assistant principal, and am currently an educational research professor mainly advising students with their dissertations centered around literacy.

This is my second educational company. I co-​founded a successful elementary supplemental education company in 2005 called Orion’s Mind.
