Burlington Coat Factory

I’ve been to various Burlingtons the past 10 years or under, the one in
Garden City near Roosevelt Field used to be good, cleaner, better run an organized,
and with better staff and clothing, than this location, and even the one in Massapequa
was better organized (but with not as exciting merchandise and less of it) and cleaner etc.
Anyway, have been going to this one fairly often the past few years, and it is kind of a mess
sometimes but I have often snagged some good deals here. The real problem though,
often, is the absurdly slow checkout register lines, which can sometimes verge on the truly absurd and maddening, making people throw down their merchandise and just storm out, giving up on even bothering to buy the items and put up with a good long stand on a double or triple checkout line.
Well, this happened again to me early this evening (6÷10÷16), and I walked
out without buying my goods, then returned an hour or so later to attempt it, only to find
the line just as long and slow-​moving. I tried to complain to some of the staff but,
and even explain that I suffer from some severe anxiety issues and such, ask for some
alternative to this nightmare, and was met with total indifference or outright hostility (even
after explaining my personal predicament to these staff members),
by one of the security guards in particular (who protested that he had nothing to do
with this aspect of the store and directed me to talk to some nebulous manager,
who I’d have to cut the line to find, I’m presuming). I ended up somehow getting on line, not being able to find a manager, and not wanting to storm in front of nearly 60 people on line waiting, to find one, and I eventually purchased my 3 items and left, but it took a good 40 – 45 minutes of standing on line and waiting. And my complaint had more to do with
wanting the whole checkout situation speeded up and rectified FOR ALL, not just
for someone like myself with extra issues dealing with such long in-​store delays.
This is clearly NOT acceptable. This store clearly has times where it gets quite busy,
ok, but why so slow, when they have at least 7 – 10 (!) cashiers (or nearly) on duty at such
times, including a head «customer service/​returns» one, as was the case tonight, where other such stores don’t even have that many cashiers on duty? It makes little sense to me. Something really needs to be done about this. As for the store itself, it’s got some decent deals to offer, but it is a bit grungy, downtrodden, and often a mess, and it seems a few years ago they had better overall quality of merchandise to offer, but it’s been going a bit downhill since. It would also help to have cashiers on both levels, but I guess this is also a security
issue. Don’t get me wrong, I like Burlington in general, and continue to enjoy
shopping here, at various locations, but this one really needs a boost and particularly
the god-​awful checkout situation, and also cleanliness, organization, and quality of
goods, before it’s even close to being as good as some of the other LI locations.
None of them are exactly Neiman-​Marcus, though, anyway, and I’ve had similar
issues at places like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s, so it’s a common issue with many of
these discount clearance outlet type store chains. Be prepared for waits and
frustration if you shop here, and having to wade through racks of junk to find some
decent items that you will actually wear. And don’t expect much friendly customer service,
or any accommodations for the disabled, etc., that’s for sure. But, in the retail world
of the 21^st Century, none of this is acceptable and needs to be fixed. I’ll still shop here,
but I just hope the management/​ownership can address some of these issues.
And can they ace up some of the seasonal stock? It’s getting very tacky.

Each time I step into this store I say I will never come back and I continue to come back. I am messed up.
I just filled out the BCF survey and gave the whole experience to a robot computer that will collect the data and do absolutely nothing about this awful store, so anyway my experience was this… UGH UGH UGH.
When you walk in there seems to be two security guards talking up a storm and some sort of sign saying bags might be inspected. Ok, these guys were two busy talking like two girls looking at facebook and were totally unconcerned about what was going on around them.
There is a huge jewelry area to the left when you walk in the door and then the purses come after the jewelry. Jewelry is all over the place and when I say place I mean floor or scattered about mishmashed here and there and everywhere. Either there is not enough staff to clean up, or this place is continually shopped by customers who were raised by wild animals.
There has been a remodel in this store since the last time that I shopped here so my thoughts were it would be a bit nicer. Not so much. Again, I think this has to do with lack of personnel who actually care about their jobs and the hoards of people who were raised by the wild animals.
I visited the clothing area to look for a few new tops since according to «G’, I need to add some color to my wardrobe. Some of the clothing was ok, some was clearly damaged. I selected a few items and headed to the fitting room. The employees in there were gossiping about other employees and eating food. They just said for me to find an open room. I guess its self serve/​we don’t care if you steal it mode in this place. So I found the open room and ended up with one $ 12.00 non-​colorful sweater. I headed off to the register. During my leisurely stroll down the aisle I noticed what seemed to be a line coming from in front of the register, wrapping around the area of cookies and headphones, aka, the impulse area before the register and then around the outside of that area infront of perfumes. What the hell, are they giving stuff away? When I saw the line my first thought was forget this $ 12,00 sweater, its not worth it, but for some reason I just got in line and waited and watched the snail pace of these cashiers. They looked so happy to be doing their jobs. They were barely grunting at the customers. One customer had to come back three times to get the security tags off of her just purchased clothes.
It as finally my turn at the register and pretty much not a word from the cashier. She rang up my one item and then told me when to swipe my credit card. I said thank you and she gave me my bag and off I went. As I looked back I saw the line was as long as when I started my journey of the line.
The only good thing about the visit was the temperature in the building. It was good, not too hot, but other than that… stay away, stay far away. Unless you have the patience of a saint.

Always always slow. I used to come here every other weekend but stopped because they are very slow at the registers. Now I placed some items on lay away and been standing for more than 20 minutes waiting for someone to come and tend to us. Even inquired a few times as to where are the workers for lay away and nothing. Alot of these stores do work slow but I think this location takes the cake. And when you go to the home décor section, the majority of items they have for sale are damaged. But I will say they have gotten better from a few years ago. Still some much needed work.

So lately I have found myself in this store on my lunch break & I have found little cute pieces… They are one of best in Queens. Not always clean though, but you will find great deals

This store is hit and miss. Sometimes you can find what you are looking for but the next day the item might not be there. What I find really interesting is when you look in the men’s underwear section there are many packages where somebody has shoplifted individual briefs out of a package. For example there’s a package of four but one or two have been removed. How desperate are some people that they need to shoplift a pair of underwear?

I came here just knowing I would find the long black wool coat of my dreams after all it is a coat factory right? Well the pickings here are very, very slim it’s disorganized and not once did I see anyone I could ask for help. I don’t think I will make the trip here again ! I will stick to the one in the city !

Place constantly sucks! Never enough help and the help that is here is incompetent. Too bad. Place is close but that’s not going to get me back in here!

They have organized the store quite so in the last few months. Hunting for a steal is more efficient because the layout makes sense now, with bags near the accessories on the first floor, across from the women’s clothing. The line for checking out items of course gets crazy when there lots of shoppers. But hey it’s Burlington; an improvement as simple as switching up their layout has resulted in a tremendously better shopping experience. Not the best Burlington I’ve gone to, but it will suffice for your shopping needs

Very disorganized! I happen to pass by this store and decided to check it out because I was in the market for a new coat. The costs looked used. I left the store after 10 mins.

I like this place a lot! I used to come here all theme they have a huge selection of clothes and for really cheap too! My only issue with his place is finding customer service is nearly impossible! And also preparing to wait long lines checking out

Definitely will recommend this store to you if you are in search of great bargains and good customer service. Granted this is not the cleanest department Store I have shopped at, I Think they need to do better with the cleaning, otherwise I have always been satisfied with their prices and I am a satisfied Customer, at the end of the day that is what matters most.

This location is better than most and the only BCF I visit. The inventory on coats is great. When they mark down items for Clearance the prices are astonishing!!! I bought a Gown for $ 25.00. A pair of Juicy Couture Sunglasses for $ 30. I found real leather pair of Arturo Chiang riding boots on clearance ! If you have time to dig and find bargains this can be a 1 stop shop. Like Marshalls you will be surprised at what you can score here. Their Baby Depot is excellent also for car seats and cribs. Good sale prices and you should check most baby magazines for the 15% off coupon. The inventory for the shoe dept has been lacking lately. I also wish they carried clothing of higher quality.

Pretty beat-​up and ghetto. It feels stuffy, dim, and messy.
Burlington does have occasional treasure finds, but one looking for an exhilarating shopping experience would most likely leave feeling unsatisfied. Good place for bargain hunters.

I’ve been to this burlington a few times and most times it has been messy and disorganized. However, my most recent visit was a total surprise. The store was clean and there seemed to be some organization. I was looking for a dress for a coworkers wedding and found one quick. They had a huge clearance rack that seemed to be organized as well. I browsed the home area and scarce shoe area but nothing caught my eye. I did have a repeat encounter with some young guy who conversed with me about items I liked in the sotre,. I knew he had to be undercover security because I saw his ass everywhere. It didnt bother me because the store was fairly empty and I was just happy how quickly I found my dress that looked very cute on me. There’s a huge parking lot that fills up fast on the weekends.

The place is nice with its low prices. The problem s good luck find your size cause everything is mixed. And all the colors an brand are mixed. Don’t bother seeking help fom the rude and clueless staff.

I’ve been going to this location for 4 years to buy jackets & clothes.
However; today I went there to buy a set of jeans, and while going to the fitting room, I noticed that there several pins stuck down on the carpet floor; and felt uncomfortable trying on a set of jeans.
When I complained to an employee; the employee told me that management has known about this, but refuses to do anything about it. When I found the manager, I addressed the issue, but she pretended to act surprised & stormed away claiming that she was going to take a look.
This situation is unsanitary; I don’t know whose been in these fitting rooms or may have stepped on those needles; and whether or not they may be contagious or not.

They have recently begun to make more of an effort to clean up and declutter the store, which is very appreciated. Before, it was a hot mess full of way too many items jammed haphazardly onto racks and displays. Now they have attempted to tame the beast and it is really cleaning up nicely. I was there just the other day and they had very nice items. I always come out of Burlington a happy camper, and my wallet is happy too.
PS — If you’re an overgrown child like me, they have the best Hello Kitty pajamas ever.

My friend does really well shopping here, but not me.
In all the time this store has been around, I have only lucked out once. One red dress does not make me rate this any higher than one star. And that one star is for the red dress only!
This store is normally very messy & dirty. The staff just doesn’t care. Management for this location should be ashamed at the appearance of their store… but good luck finding a manager.
Their prices might be really good, but I can’t shop in a pig sty.

One of my dirty little secrets of retail (and trust me, I have many) is shopping here. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve stepped environments that border on hazardous in the name of fashion (American Place.) But Burlington is unique in its ability to cluster#### eight different styles and colors of clothing on a single rack. (Needless to say size is a free for all.)
There is of course, the ghetto fabulous clothing that I usually walk past, followed by the sports jackets, coats and button down shirts, which are serious bargains. Then we come to the casual section, which occasionally has great labels. But getting to it feels like taking a dive into a textile mill. While you’re in the deep end, get a friend to wait on line for you, because the cashiers move at a snails pace.

worst retail store!!! employees are RUDE and don’t have any etiquette whatsoever. i would rather pay more than deal with the nonsense in this store!
EDIT: after more thought… I’d rather hammer my left nut with a stilletto heal than shop here.
