Wheaton Animal Hospital

Today is the LAST time I ever waste my time at this place. I walked into this business with my dog who was there for a nail clip and a consultation on getting his teeth cleaned. I walked in and as always, the girls were busy. No problem. I had a seat on the bench and was patiently waiting my turn when another lady walked in the door with her pup. The BLONDE who was working at the front desk proceeded to help her and IGNORED me as if I was there just to pass the time. RUDE! I will find another place to spend my money on my fur baby. These girls lack in customer service and being alert and aware of what is going on around them. I left without getting a consultation and will look elsewhere where I can find a friendly atmosphere without being made to feel like your business is not wanted.

We’ve brought our dogs to Wheaton Animal Hospital for grooming, vaccines and boarding. All of our experiences have been incredibly positive. The first time I visited, my yorkie tried to nip at the vet administrating the vaccine. I was incredibly embarrassed but she didn’t make me feel like a bad pet parent at all. She took him in the back and gave it to him privately and it went much smoother.
The thing I like best is that there’s rarely ever a wait – at least the times I’ve been there. At my old vet, we’d have to sit in the waiting room for extended periods of time. I also like that they’re up front about the cost and about what you can expect.
The only reason for 4 instead of 5 is the cost. It’s more expensive than my previous vet, but I feel like the level of care they administer helps balance it out. You also get one night of free boarding and a free groom the first time you use those services.
I’m really happy that I found a vet that I trust so close to my home.

I am honestly surprised this place doesn’t have more reviews! Figured I’d put my two cents in since I was extremely satisfied with this place. My dog has had an allergy problem that we have taken care of with some Benadryl with time. For the past two weeks we noticed a larger flare up on his face so it was time to bring in our 5 year old rat terrier, because we were unsure what was going on and worried. Of course we googled and that didn’t help because we came across some bad infections and the pictures weren’t nice to look at but its what many risks our little pets can get. Anyways after some research found this place and wow they are amazing!!! And the price was just as great!!! You won’t be disappointed! We sure weren’t! We will recommend this place and will keep coming here! You will not walk out wondering if you will be able to make your car payment lol. Our visit was $ 19 with medication!!! First exam is free. Big thumbs up!!! Our jack Russell will be visiting also!

The facility is clean and neat. The front desk staff are courteous at check in and check out. Dr Weinder is knowledgeable and fully explains, in lay mans language, my dogs health. All together I would recommend Wheaton Animal Hospital.

We have had great experience with Wheaton Animal Hospital. We adopted a puppy in early June and their staff has been easy, accommodating, patient, helpful and so very kind. Very glad we were referred to this clinic.

I have been going to Wheaton Animal Hospital for three years now. The front desk girls are very polite and kind. I love not having to make a appointment. The Doctors are very caring and informative.

This time papa was good to me he thought I was perfectly fine, but his mom and my mom started getting over protective and wanted me to go visit the Doc. Can any of you guess for what? Dont even ask.
Cause i was scratching myself, seriously? Is a dog not allowed to scratch himself? Anyways I was also told that i need to have a general check up done so I hopped into my big papa’s car (Don’t know what car it was but it smelt good and the leather was smooth and clean). Entered this huge office, the place was very clean, not that i care and everyone saw me like I was an alien. My papa wanted to see how much i weigh, cause he was telling his friend that he could not lift me, (may be papa has become old .wuf wuff) So they made me stand on this scale which was not big enough for me and they were shocked to see i was 150lbs. We were then asked to move into another smaller room which was clean too were the doctor came in to see me. The Doctor was nice to me, she checked my legs, my skin, then 3 people tried to wrestle me down to see the bottom of my belly for something, don’t know what. Then the Doc let some kinda scope into my ears, don’t know what she wanted there. She said my teeth was not bad (common, its just fine). Once we were done my papa was nice enough to grab a handful of treats from the Docs office (shhhhh). I enjoyed them treats and then we drove back home. Glad am back in my hood. Ok that is enough about my trip, I am done for now, its time for me to go back to my work (napping… ZZZZZzzzzzz)

Unfortunately I had to meet the amazing staff under very sad circumstances. My cranky, old Chihuahua was brought in to cross the Rainbow Bridge. I called about 30 minutes before I planned on coming in. When I got there, they put me in a room within a couple minutes. They’d laid a soft blanket on the exam table and had a box of tissues as well. From the girls at the front desk to the doctor… everyone was nothing short of phenomenal. They were sweet, empathetic, caring and compassionate. They made the visit as easy as they could’ve being what it was. My Martini was treated as if he were their own and crossed over with dignity. They called when his ashes were ready to be picked up and today I got a sympathy card (signed by the staff) AND a little card with his paw print inked on it. I was not prepared for that and I’m eternally grateful that they provided that to me. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

I had multiple dogs that needed to be seen. They not only checked my in from my car but they made sure a room was open so I could get in without my dogs barking at the other dogs.
The doctor was extremely understanding an helpful. She explained everything and was very kind to my dogs.
I just moved her from Milwaukee but I’ve found my new vet. They were helpful, nice and easy to work with. They made a tough experience super easy.

Wheaton Animal Hospital is a beautiful facility and the staff is incredible. When I woke up yesterday morning to our 18 year old cat in absolute agony, I knew we had to make a final heartbreaking trip to the vet. I’m still new to the area and didn’t know where to go so I started looking through reviews of 24 hour vets in the area and many of them had awful reviews so I was relieved to come across Wheaton Animal Hospital’s pleasant reviews and see that they had early office hours. They also have on-​call vets that answer their phones in case of an emergency which I found to be comforting and relieving in what was otherwise a very emotional situation.
My fiancé is in the Army and we don’t have any family in the state so I had to bring our one year old toddler with me. When we arrived I was already in tears but the staff was incredibly sweet to my son and very kind to me. They explained that the vet would not be in for at least another half hour, but offered us a private room which I was extremely grateful for. When the vet arrived he was incredibly compassionate towards our cat, my son, as well as me. He was kind, professional, considerate, accommodating, and made our dear old friend as comfortable as he could possibly be. After an examination he explained that our cat was displaying signs of heart disease and that a blood clot had caused paralysis and excruciating pain in his back limbs. Our cat was a proud, strong, brave, and handsome guy and at the Wheaton Animal Hospital he was allowed the privacy, compassion, and dignity that an owner wishes their loved ones receive in their time of passing.
In light of how heartbreaking yesterday was, I am extremely grateful for the kindness and professionalism the Wheaton Animal Hospital staff extended to us that day. As devastating as the loss of a pet can be, they really did all that they could to provide us with a pleasant experience. The vet himself even carried our cat in his carrier to my vehicle for me while I carried our toddler. (We have a country property that we would prefer to bury him on rather than cremate him.) I cannot say enough good things about this place and will absolutely have them in mind should we ever have to help another one of our pets cross the rainbow bridge.

I take all my animals here and they are all on the health plans. The staff is always very good with all my animals. We had one go in for a dental surgey and they called me just a short while later to update me. Like other posts, they remember my animals and greet my dogs better than me which is exactly how it should be.

We recently moved here from Indianapolis and my dog Gibson loved his old vet. They took care of him and he loved the interaction. I was nervous on finding him a new vet but when we arrived he was warmly greeted. They treated him with great care and his favorite part was a treat for being a good boy. I would recommend Wheaton Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a good group of people dedicated to our pets.

This place is truly wonderful… I have never had a problem.
–Nearly lost my 5# Chihuahua from an attack from a HUSKY (I say that because I have a Pit-​bull and you never hear of other dog attacks!) BUT the staff at WAH got him back to health.
–Staff was very sweet and sincere when I had to put down my Pit-​bull (the vet cried! True sign o f someone loving animals)!
I like them so much I have referred about 7 people to them. and they all agree with my rating
One bad thing: they do not take appointments… walk in only. It works for me since I do not work… but may be hard for those that do.

I love Wheaton Animal Hospital! When my cat, Quincy passed away earlier this year, they were very compassionate and supportive. I was so surprised to receive a sympathy card in the mail from them, along with Quincy’s paw print for me to keep as a memento. They are also always happy to see my dog, Emma, and she loves the groomers!
My only negative feedback would be that they are fairly expensive, and that there are often long waits since they don’t take appointments.

It makes me sad to write a less than awesome review for this place. I’ve been taking my animals here for over 10 years and have never had a problem until recently.
There seems to be a lot of turnover as I don’t see the same people working here, which may be part of the problem.
I had a couple of bad experiences. My oldest cat, Butch, has a brain tumor. As a result, he can no longer groom himself, and he does not like being groomed by me. So I called the vet to ask if there was anything they could do for him that would not require him to be sedated. They told me to bring him in. They said they could shave him down, but he wouldn’t be pretty. I didn’t care about pretty, I just wanted my baby to be free of mats.
So I bring him in as instructed, but since there are no appointments, nobody seemed to know what I was talking about when I said they would shave him down. So the girls took him back, shaved one very small section of fur, brought him back to me and said that was all they could do in the time they had «allotted». I was fuming. I wasted hours waiting for this nonsense… all for nothing.
On another occasion, my Butch wasn’t taking his meds. So I brought him in for suggestions. We saw one female vet that couldn’t help herself to tell me he doesn’t have long. Uh, I know. I almost felt like she wanted me to put him down right then and there. She also offered no suggestions. Another wasted trip. I came back another time to see Dr. Enk (great doc), and we were able to get a lotion version of his chemo that goes in his ear. Problem solved, and btw… he’s still alive 1 year later. Just sayin’.
We have found a new vet in Lombard that does take appointments and is much more willing to work with us no matter what issue we are having. I’m sad to leave, but it seems like it’s time.

We foster dogs through a local rescue organization and Wheaton is the animal hospital we take them to. All of the vets we’ve seen the past few months have been great. They take the time to get to know your pet and appear to genuinely care for the animals they see.
We’re probably going to start bringing our own dogs there as a thank you for all they do with local rescues and because their service has been too notch.

Been taking pets here for past 10 years. Would not go anywhere else. Including couple of joint surgeries that went great. Prompt attention, friendly and competent staff, and competitive prices. Highly recommend.

An awesome place to board my difficult, behavior-​challenged dog. They always give her a complimentary bath before I pick her up and send picture texts to show me how she’s doing. It’s great to have a place where I can leave my pooch and not have to worry about the care she’s receiving!

It’s OK.
It’s pretty hard to not like a place filled with cats and dogs.
The people are reasonably friendly (male doctor today, meh) We’ve been having a problem with my dogs dew claw, he’s a German Short Hair Pointer (we rescued him at 8 mos) and his front dew claws have become a real problem. We’ve been here with a broken dew claw four times in a year. They are telling me that I need to keep it clipped (of course) but this last time it was less than two months since the last time that he broke it. Instead of blaming me, it might have been nice to hear about alternatives. The broken dew claw is exceptionally painful to dogs.
But, it’s the system that I really don’t like. No appointment sounds pretty good until your fifteen minute problem turns into a two + hour ordeal. Today, after being in the waiting room for 1 hour and 15 minutes, I was escorted to an exam room, where we waited another ½ hour. The Dr. came in and fifteen minutes later we are collecting medicines and paying the bill
I dread going here because I never know how long I’ll have to wait, if you think I don’t like the waiting… you should see my dog «Chaps»… nothing good ever happens for him there, he’s a nervous wreck. I’ve been out in under an hour, but usually it’s more (with the yearly exam we’ve been here 5 times in the last year or so) Our last vet never kept us waiting long. So I think that this system just doesn’t work for me and now I’m going to try Danada.
It’s not a bad place. At least you get a chance to to meet other pet owners and their animals.
